2016 Training Camp - Day One

The rest of your post was quite reasonable, but c'mon. Not rooting for him? We should root for every single one of the players who are in training camp, simply because they're Patriots. I want all of them to do well. May the best man win.
Unfortunately some would rather say I told you so than be pleasantly surprised.

I don't know if this has anything to do with my post, since that's what reamer was responding to, but I am not in that camp at all. I've defended Dobson to any and everyone over the years. I don't think I'm being unreasonable at all in giving up. That's just a natural reaction when a person has been waiting for something for so long that has not presented itself. If this is the season he shows what made him a second-rounder, I'll gladly revisit this thread with anyone. I'm as objective a person as they come and, as such, I have no problem pointing out my own false steps in life. And likewise, I'm not going to speak highly of a player who has failed in every aspect of his job just because he plays for my favorite team.

I'm not rooting for Dobson anymore, and I'm not nearly as optimistic as you are, my friend. But for the sake of the team, I hope you are correct about it being his breakout year. Someone with his physical gifts would make the offense completely unstoppable. It would be one more person that DC's around the league would have to plan to stop, and we already have so many of those. However, few of them have the ability to consistently get down the field naturally, needing to rely on clever play design to accomplish it instead. Dobson has the natural ability, but he struggles with almost every other area of being an NFL wideout at this point, specifically catching the ball cleanly (the MOST important aspect of receiving). He also can't seem to stay on the field either. I guess I should have started off with that since you can't really do anything on the field if you're not on the field.

We've all been waiting, but I cannot fault anyone, like myself, for a lack of patience and optimism because of how long I did afford the young guy those things. His time is now or we need to simply cut bait (which some would argue should have happened long ago already).

Dobson is ascared of the middle of the field when there are defenders out there hitting him.

Yup, and it's pretty obvious too. Something just has not clicked with him and it's apparent in numerous aspects of his game right now. There is nothing, other than being hurt, that he's been able to do consistently (and I'm not even trying to be a smart ass). He really has shown zero consistency in any of his development as a football player to this point. Again, I'll state that I'd be happy to see him mature in year four. But until then, I cannot defend him anymore. I've done it and he's made me feel stupid one too many times for doing so. He's got some work to do if he hopes to make it onto the final roster this season because the Pats are loaded at his position. I really don't think I'm being unreasonable at all in my assessment of him at this point in time. I'd rather him look like trash and get cut (sadly) than to look brilliant and cost someone like Keyshawn Martin a job to enter the season and wind up on IR or ineffective. It's what we've seen and I cannot prognosticate something different just because I'm hoping for it. We've just not seen anything good on the field when it matters since the second half of his rookie season.

He and Gronk both looked gassed after that drill.
They likely were. This is the first time since the end of the season they've been pushed this hard. I don't believe OTA's and minicamp tax the players as much as TC, even on day 1.

There are two reasons they call him Dropson.
1) He drops and bobbles passes because he's ascared of the contact.
2) He drops to the ground after catches because he's ascared of the contact.
Or is that only one reason?
I don't believe that he's going to all of a sudden become ok with the contact.

The reason he got the nickname Dropson was for two reasons.

I agree. I just don't think that he's magically going to become a different player because everyone says this is make-or-break. However, and I am truly saying this in all sincerity, I would be happy to see it. I just am not holding out hope.

Thank you, pats4life12.
No Problem I am up at training camp once or twice a week. I'll try to post what I see and articles that seem accurate to what is happening on the field.

Question decidedly off-topic : Why is it that when I open these threads I do not see the tweet? I must be doing something wrong but I cannot seem to solve the problem.

Please do. I don't trust many media outlets anymore, even some of the local ones. I'm just jaded over the years thanks to a certain network that that shall remain inconspicuous (*cough* ESPNFL).

Ya, I feel you. I have found that T Town Sports does a good job at covering the Patriots. They are definitely a smaller news outlet but they are up to date and most of the time tell it how it is. I have resulted to finding smaller media outlets as I am with you and could not tolerate ESPN/NFL Network anymore.

Love it! Patriots Way with a comedic twist.

It was perfect. I have a feeling if he answered it straight, it would have been just the soundbite the media needs to perpetuate a "QB CONTROVERSY!!!111". GRONK was the perfect one to get that question, I think.
