The Jimmy Garoppolo debut thread

I really hope he plays well to the point where hes gonna before sure our next starting QB, I really hope we pull a 49ers/Packers after Brady, I speak for everyone when I say I hope we dont suck after brady retires so I really hope Jimmy G is our future and if he shows in the first four games then we are set Post Brady retirement cause if he plays like he can be our starter then no amount for 1st rounders would make them let Jimmy go even if it means Brady not playing as long as he would have if we didnt have a legitimate starter as a backup.

If Brady can play 3-4 more years it will be difficult to extend JG. He has to play. He cannot sit another 3-4 years. Even if they offer him starting money (which they wont), he cannot stay on the bench for so long. My sense is there is a chance for this transition in couple of years time. So lets put it in the hands of father time for now and enjoy seeing another great QB leading NE offense.

Yeah, the timing sort of sucks to be honest.

It would be perfect if JG were a rookie (not to start in place of Brady obviously, that's a whole other area of sucking) but to be the successor of Brady if he's worthy of it. I see Brady playing 2 to 3 years after this one, and as you say that doesn't work well to keep him. And I want Brady to stay with the Pats and break every freaking record on the planet.

Color me intrigued. I can't wait to see him when it counts. I am upset that it won't be TB12 for the first four, but I'm not going to let that ruin my Patriots experience. Let's do this!!!

A lot of good ideas in this thread!

How many snaps does Brissett get this season?
I hope he gets a few series at the end of games JG has safely won. Would be nice to give him some seasoning, just in case, if the game is solidly in the bag late in the fourth quarter. Gotta keep the pipeline filled.

Young QBs will make mistakes and i expect some bad passes the first 4 games..comes with the learning curve. I just hope if he has 1 really bad one... we can overcome it

everybody is talking about Gronk-Bennett making job easier for JG
i see a very productive Garoppolo-Hogan connection
(especially if Edelman misses start of the season)

I'm hoping no worse then 2-2, very possible we do that or 3-1.

Yeah, I think Hogan is going to be huge. He can line up in the slot and at split end and be productive. He's good at getting off the jam and getting open quickly. If Edelman can't go, Hogan and Amendola won't be bad to have. Hopefully Lewis will be in there too. Garoppolo is untested and, as a result, defenses are going to be very aggressive with him at first. He will see a ton of blitzes to force him to think quickly and find the open man. Lewis would be very nice to have early on.

During the regular season games? He won't get any snaps other than kneel-downs.

"I see a very productive Garoppolo-Hogan connection."

I would add a what if scenario how about a Garoppolo-Dropson conection.:D:cool:

Yeah I think there's far too much blind optimism for a QB starting his first few NFL games, against 4 solid to great defenses, with a questionable offensive line.

I just pray he doesn't throw Gronk a suicide pass in traffic.

Watching that video of his coach talking about him makes me think it's not entirely blind. There are some very knowledgeable folks like Jeff Christensen, BB and Josh McD that have the belief that he's going to be a good QB and they are far from blind optimists. I say that in the belief that BB and Josh would not have kept him and set him up in this situation if they did not believe he was going to be good.

I think JG will be throwing alot more than we would like. Teams are going to play the run and force JG to beat them with his arm. I am hoping for 2-2 but would not be surprised to see 0-4

I'm looking forward to Aladdin carrying the clipboard again.
