Tom "They hate their coach" Jackson fired from ESPN

Gotta admit tho, with the hiring of Randy Moss for all 3 of their biggest NFL shows- there's a real possibility that Randy and Tedy Bruschi end up on some segments as the only 2 analysts- and I dont give a **** what anybody says- that would be fun to watch, not to mention informative.

The epitome of all that is bad and evil among the worst of the Park Avenue sycophants.

Never once did I ever hear of a cogent thought emanate from him.

Jackson often looked bored on camera, is ugly, and didn't offer any insight. Easy target for the ax. I don't watch ESPN anymore but this is nevertheless satisfying.

So long stuttering douchebag! "An an an an an an an an and the way I see it . . . *insert verbal diarrhea here*"

I blame PTI. Stu schtick was different in flavor but not all that different than Berman's nicknames and funny noises.

I think PTI changed the game, instead of reporting sports it became put two guys on screen and let them argue or act holier than thou.

Wholly schnikies can't we just show some highlights and mix in some humor and call it a night. No need to argue or preach and definitely no need to spread league mandated propaganda. Just show some highlights and get out the way.

Ironically, that's what ESPN used to do. The 1 hour NFL Primetime (I think that was the name) show that Berman and Jackson did was appointment viewing if you were a football fan in the early 90s. This was long before the NFLN and the red zone channel. If you didn't have Sunday ticket, this show was the best way to see highlights of every game.

Of course, even though the show was great in it's original format, ESPN decided to change it and put more focus on their studio panel instead of the games. Aside from some nostalgia, I guess my main point is that it's been a long time since Tom Jackson was part of something worth watching.

Jackson will be best remembered for his "error in judgment" on that day. HOWEVER his biggest mistake was NOT that he said that "they hate their coach", but that he stated as if it were a FACT. Let us not forget that they just come off Bill cutting a very popular player, and losing to the team that picked him up 30-0. So when Jackson came out with that "they hate their coach" comment, I'm sure we didn't like to hear it, but if we are being completely honest with ourselves; AT THE TIME, we were all wondering if it were true.

Now events of the the 2003 season prove conclusively just how wrong Jackson was. And it IS fun to pile on him for making it. We've done it now for the last 13 years almost without a let up. Now Jackson is just another victim of ESPN's slow decline, and it's about time.

As much as I dislike Jackson ... reading up on it shows he was not fired, just removed from the on air job and retirement or s different role is up to him. Seriously ... if I am ESPN or any of these shows I change the on air people every so often. Young people watching the game have no clue who these people are half the time.

Have to throw in a link to my favorite NFL Primetime music - "Power Surge". For some reason they used it all the time with Bills highlights, like this clip:

BTW, you get to see some good Flutie action in that one.

Shannon hates this news....

Regardless of what Tom Jackson has said about us, I've always liked him. I thought he was one of the few respectable anchors on that network. There are about two dozen bozos that I disliked more than him. At least Jackson had semblance of a real sportscaster, unlike so many of the charlatans they threw out there over the past decade.

Why, did he make a comment in favor of Pats, Brady and called Witch Hunt for what it is? goodell* phoned Walt said can him. Oh and BSPN blow off P.Manning imaginary investigation story.

Yeah, pretty much agree with this. When the Pats got annihilated by the bills, it was because the team was absolutely, 100% dead emotionally after Malloy was cut. But right, saying categorically they hated the coach was foolish.

It's funny, getting slaughtered the way they did was probably the best way to snap out of it. One game to get it out of their system was all they needed.

Just because there were/are two dozen bozos that (you) disliked more than him, doesn't mean he wasn't horrible at his job. He was. His anti-Patriot/Belichick agenda was so obvious for so many years and he didn't even try to hide it and he didn't have to. You're at least partially right in that there were people even more obvious with that agenda, i. e. Lewis, Carter, Hodge, Storm, Schlereth, Ditka ,Mortensen (to some degree) et al. But, the bottom line is that all of them flaunted that agenda because the bosses there not only allowed it, they encouraged it. It will be very interesting to see how many of those who got greased end up getting hired elsewhere. To my knowledge, Lewis, Carter and Ditka are still unemployed. Wonder why...

Hopefully all these high profile people who are leaving ESPN (probably not by choice) can start giving us a little behind the scenes of how stories are crafted by the execs (aka NFL cronies).

Guess they'll only do that when they retire, otherwise who'd hire whistleblowers.

They'd probably get buried in lawsuits because they probably all had to sign NDA's to work for the mega giant ESPN

BSPN is having a purge of execution. I love it.

But their website and 570 fios cable channel are dead to me. So, even if their new group is more acceptable, I'll never know it.
