It's actually a decently written article by Volin.. Though I'd say most of the information is what people on this site have talked about previously..

Ben Volin: Some Patriots will be under the microscope during training camp - The Boston Globe

1 - Grissom / Flower - I'd add Chris Long and Rufus Johnson to the idea that they will be under the microscope to see who can step up and help the DE rotation now that Chandler Jones is gone.

2 - James White - I feel that Volin is unfair to White in his analysis. Running between the tackles is not White's forte. Furthermore, the O-line was in shambles by the time White was being given the rock. Also, many of the passes in the AFCCG weren't on target.. Can't fault White for that.

3 - Stork - Volin makes 1 valid point.. Stork has a history of concussions. And it's a concern. But Volin ignores the fact that Stork played RT last year in a game and did fairly well. Also, the idea that there are only 4 Interior line positions is ridiculous.. There hasn't been a season where the Pats started with less than 5 people who could fill play the interior.

4) Cyrus Jones - Sorry, but volin is way off on this one. I don't believe the pats are expecting Jones to win the Nickel position immediately. If he did, that would be icing on the cake. Justin Coleman is the one who will have the microscope on him. As will Darryl Roberts. Coleman is the incumbent Nickel. Roberts was looking great in camp until he was injured last year. And wrist injuries are tricky things as we've learned previously.

5) Aaron Dobson - Pretty sure that Volin got all his information from Patsfans on this one.. We were talking about this months ago..

To me, outside of Jimmy G, everyone on that O line will be the ones who will be under the bigger microscope early in the season. They have a lot to prove.

I think Jones wins the nickel corner job immediately too. The real competition will be at the other outside corner position. I'm hoping Roberts can win that one. He has all of the physical tools you could want to be successful there.

There were quite a few (at least 2, IIRC) where the ball was thrown five feet in front of White and was uncatchable.

Now was Tom Brady inaccurate, or was White not able to get to where he was supposed to be? We've got a lot of tape on this Brady kid. Dunno.

It's been months since I've read words "Boston Globe". Why is the Globe still operating...besides perpetuating John Henry's agenda? Are people wrapping fish with it?

So essentially, instead of reading Volin you could just visit Patsfans.com?

They should put our owner under the microscope. Maybe if he had sued everyone but he was too busy asdfsd

Man that kid is perfectly built for that position. Really pulling for him. His measurables are up there with almost anyone.

I think Foster beats out White. Neither likes contact but Foster is simply better at that role. I don't want to get into why, but he was misused his last year. Hes a 14-16 touch guy coming out of the backfield. And fwiw I like him better between the tackles.

I think Foster pushes guys like Blount, Gaffney, Bolden, etc. If someone is pushing White it would most likely be Donald Brown, although there are plenty of scenarios where some of these may overlap.

In other words, I wouldn't think that Foster would take over White's 3rd down role.

Let's go egg Bobby's house tonight. #makeBobbycry

As funny as this is, it is denying us the your typical insane insight, which IMO is a net loss. Also, please stop switching the side of your avatar that's wearing the glasses. If you're into that kinky ****, wear a monocle.

That must be a big f*cking microscope.
