What if Deflategate backfires on NFL?

The leaks today won't affect jack sh*t and there's already similar evidence against the NFL and...it didn't affect jack sh*t.
Don't be a dream crusher :D.

You don't get rid of the GOAT while he is still playing like the GOAT no matter how good the backup plays.

Plus, that would somewhat recoup the 2 1st round picks the NFL STOLE from the Patriots for the overhyped and fabricated spygate and delategate scandals.

I'm not even worried about recouping, that's on the past now, BB will once again outcoach and outmanage the league by keeping our level of excellence even with another ripoff.

My point of view is just that GM's are throwing money around for QB's like crazy, trading a king's ransom to move up in the draft, so if Jimmy shows something and BB decides to bet on Brady for another few years then he should ask for something like that. That's nothing absurd if a team has a chance to hit on a franchise QB.

Same here. If he tears it up and there's a chance the Pats have their QBOTF, they need to keep him and not trade him away. Brady will be 40. It sucks, but the team needs to start looking ahead and if they have the next big thing on the roster, he needs to stay there.

Yeah defamegate can be a blessing in disguise, if we get another dominant QB for another 15 years the owners will hit their heads against the wall and Goodell's too for that. These 4 games will be decisive, if Jimmy doesn't play a single snap during 4 years and Brady doesn't decline in a first moment, we could very well trade him for something just like happened with Mallet. And then regret later.

The best revenge is on the podium at the Super Bowl, Brady refuses to go up and get his picture taken with a proven liar because he is trying to rehab his image and it can't take that bad a hit. On the podium is Joe Smith who hands Roger three envelopes. Dan Patrick (or whatever mediot is there) asks him who he is and he explains he is a legally disinterested party. Roger holds up the envelopes and asks what are these. He says, loud enough for the cameras, "Those are three subpoenas," as he walks off the podium.

That would be good revenge.

(Personally, I'd do McNally's suit at the Super Bowl and Brady's at the AFCC to whatever minor official is there. You know, to make Roger think it is over.)

The only way deflategate can backfire, and I pray that it does, is if it is the reason the players grow a backbone and strike. And by strike I do not mean over the summer posturing or the first 2 preseason games. I want there to be no football in 2019 unless gotohell is gone and a fair/reasonable 3rd party arbitration method is set up. If I was the NFLPA I would refuse to even sit down at the table until Rodger was gone. Until that happens, no deflategate was a total success and the league has won. They got our draft picks, they got our money, they got TB12 slandered hated and suspended, and most importantly to them IMO their power confirmed with precident to take all future disputes to NY instead of Minn. It makes me sick to my stomach the abomination of justice this whole saga has been but right now until there is a massive strike that hits the league in the wallet, they've won. Sad thing is except for a few players like Sherman who see the bigger picture I do not expect the players to have the fortitude to hold a long term strike.

Deflategate fails if Brady gets another ring and the Patriots get a first for Garrapolo. Belichick managed to turn his late 7th round picks into a 4th next year and Garrapolo would restore their first, and while that's not a perfect deal it's the best they could hope for. I think the narrative on Brady's suspension will turn in his favor but the haters will still hate.

Nobody is advocating that. What we're saying is that, if he looks like the real deal, the team needs to find a way to keep both on the roster.

The problem with that is that he is only going to have 1 year left on his deal and if they pass on getting something for him, next draft then nobody will give anything after that because he will be a free agent. Imo the window tip get something for him is between now and the draft and they obviously aren't going to move him now. I get why, people want to keep him but unless Brady shows real signs of going downhill I don't see how they do it. Garrapolo is going to want to play and to get paid so the smart, thing to do is to maximize his value.

That said I'm clearly biased because I'm in the camp that Brady can play at a high level for 4-5 more years. He's throwing the ball as well as he ever has and, he is by far and away the smartest player in football. The advantage he has over defenses is like no one else. He has seen and done it all and he will be facing guys who have a fraction of the knowledge he has. There are no Ed Reed or Ray Lewis' defensive players left to try and match wits with him, now it's simply a mismatch. If Brady stays healthy I really think he will win 2 more rings and leave the game as the unquestioned best player of all time, and I really want him to see that happen here.

If Jimmy goes 4-0 I want 3 first round picks. They gave that to an unproven RG3.

Forget 3 1st rounders. If he goes 4-0 against that schedule, I'm looking forward to 15 more years of dominance.

It's just not realistically possible. If Garoppolo looks like the real deal, other teams will be desperate to scoop him up. And if he is 1/10th the competitor we hope he is, he will go to another team where he will start instead of just being a career backup. Look at what the Texans gave Osweiler. Belichick isn't going to match that for a backup.

It's had at least some effect. The NFL has hired a PR firm in an effort to rehabilitate RG's image. Same won that took on Clinton in the Lewinsky deal I believe.

Deflategate is Kraft's fault, 100%. A *REAL* owner would have hired Guatemalan assassins, imo.

Goodfellas: " Tom, we want to see your cell phone to see if you complied with the suspension."

You know that is coming and hopefully the only number he dialed was 1-800-GFY-ROGE.

That's the latest exhibit of what's wrong with this league. The game and the players sell the NFL. The commissioner does not. No kids are getting their friends together, going to a park and throwing around the word "integrity." No one is watching Goodell's old press conferences on YouTube to learn how to evade questions and speak in empty platitudes. The commissioner's image shouldn't be an issue because the commissioner should rarely be in the spotlight for the league. That should be for the coaches and the players, the people the public wants to and pays to see.

If the league wants to really improve the commissioner's image, they should hire a new commissioner. If they want to improve Goodell's image, put him behind the scenes as much as possible. No running the 40 in the NFL offices, no replays of the Goodell-themed Mother's Day special, no more hugging draft picks. It should reach the point where people have to think for a minute to remember what he looks like. That would improve things.

You keep Jimmy if he is the real deal. I do not fear a Brady-less future. It took a decade for Brady to win another sb(best game ever). It is not implausible to think another qb could get us to the promised land within that time frame.

Your not saying it Kontra, others clearly are.

Regardless of outcome, Goodell needs to be cast as one of the victims in the remake of the movie "Human Centipede"

I'm not posting a pic.........look it up if you dare
