Honestly, as much as I'm not a fan, I think Quinn made the right move. Eye test isn't impressive but, Caldwell's track record is solid. Def deserved another season.Don't forget Jim Caldwell. The fact that he got hired a second time as a HC pretty much obliterates that entire point.
Soooooo...lynchings of black people decreased after the 50's? Or they started coming out from hiding in the shadows a little more?Yes and no. The black population has not changed all that much percentage wise over the last hundred years but the minority population has. Biggest growth coming from the hispanic population.
So in terms of diversity within the media, government, sports etc... there was not a good balance in the 1960's or 70's. I haven't looked into it yet but suspect there are many reasons for why that was. Good ole boy networks (not in a racist sense), lack of media outlets (as we only had 3 channels etc..), segregation de facto and of course racism.
With the recent additions of cable TV, internet and all the other social media outlets things have changed.
The problem for me is that as a white guy I get tired of everything and everyone being "racists". It's as if the boy who originally cried wolf to his town now has an iPhone and has internet access to the world.
I do know that racism exists and have seen it first hand including as a white guy living in Asia. I've seen it in the Army and as a manager. I once was asked, "why did you hire the razorback?" and have heard "why are you hiring a black guy?", so although rare, in my experience, it definitely exists.
Complicated discussion.

I was just gonna flag you with a "disagree" but I'll say it out in the open, that this isn't true, and quite frankly bullsh*** There was plenty of diversity back in the 50's and 60's, but minorities had to contend with open discrimination tolerated (if not legal) not to mention segregation was an accepted fact of life.
Felt I should point that out
OK Now look, man, as long as you have that picture there everybody's gonna have to wait a few minutes every time for me regain my focus.
These are my last 5 threads
Is the 2016 season Brady's last best hope for a 5th Super Bowl Title?
What will the Patritots' W-L record be with Jimmy G?
Flashback: Easily Malcolm Butler's most impressive performance yet (non-SB 49)
Warriors fans ask Patriots fans on how to cope with loss
POLL: What is the more impressive regular-season record in sports...16-0 Patriots or 73-9 GSW?
^^Don't really see an anti-Patriots bias.
Your stat table proves my point. From 1950-1980, the percentage of the U.S. population that was Caucasian hovered between 83 and 89 percent. Yet extrapolated through 2010 all minorities have gained in percentage while the white population DECREASED a whopping 17.2 percent. THAT quantifies a significant increase in diversity. As someone who grew up in the '60s and '70s, I certainly recall things changing in terms of minority representation culturally and politically across the board. Some of it's attributable to general "social progress," but I think changes in population percentages have had and will continue to have just as much if not more to do with it.Yes and no. the country is 12.3% African American
the pats coaching staff is 14.2% African American
leave it to an African American to write the article
I proper we add a new reaction option to posts: Like, Useful, Winner... Racist.
That could create some humor I think.
Maybe also add a "Pink Stripes" option.
Total liberal BS. Please provide an example of your "fact" that someone named Washington was denied a loan or an interview based on their name alone.when in fact just having the last name Washington (most common black surname in the US) can get you automatically denied for loans and interviews.
or the pink power ranger....Belichick would hire the purple teletubbie if he thought it would improve the team.
You did not want to be black in the United States in the 50's, not exactly an enticement for people of color to stand up and be counted in population measurements. Things are not much better today, depending where you decide to go out.Not sure what you're asking.
I like purple AND pink...or the pink power ranger....
