Saux doing a nice job post All-Star break beating up on the recent weaker schedule....and I include SF in that grouping considering no DH for NL teams on the road. Going forward, 2/3's of Saux remaining games will be on the road which is never a positive. Regarding the pitching....despite the bullpen degradation due to injury, the Saux are so much improved IMO. Of course, it will be the offense that decides their playoff fate and this nice offensive surge of late needs to extend its life on the road. Should be fun.....which is more than can be said the past few summers.

you include sf because their pitcher didn't get to hit and an actual MLB hitter was the DH? that makes no sense. NL teams are better when the pitcher doesn't hit.

Enjoying the week at Dennisport on the Cape, not enjoying watching the churlish bonehead Price pitch like garbage, again, just as I predicted he would here. You 're welcome.

Oh Captain my Captain.........you are pulling a Clinton here ......."Depends on the definition of 'is' "
Offenses for NL and AL teams, thanks to the DH, will both be "better" in interleague games in AL parks vs. NL parks so you are correct to write SF will be "better" if pitcher doesn't hit. But statistics support the obvious conclusion that AL teams are "more better" at home in interleague games than their NL opponent because they can deploy their heart of the order professional hitter in the DH role while NL teams must add on their #9 hitter into their lineup. There's a reason the top 8 teams on the list of Best All-Time Interleague Records are AL teams....and it's not because NL teams are "better" in AL parks under your definition

the nl number nine hitter[DH] is better then the pitcher hitting and that makes the team better. stats support that. look at the players batting average and other hitting stats compared to the pitcher. not pulling a clinton just using common sense. never said nl teams are better when they play in al ballparks. they are better because they have a better hitter in the line up instead of using the pitcher. you included san fran with the lousy teams the sox beat and you shouldn't have. you want stats look at san frans win and loss record. they are a good team.

It's official: Dumbrowski just threw away the Sux best pitching prospect for trash with padded National League stats.

Meanwhile, Theo trades for Aroldis Chapman...nice little "wink wink, nudge nudge" deal between he & his buddy at the MFYs.

its what we all thought when DD got the job...trade away our farm for players. Looks like a horrible move so far

did you see what Cleveland gave up to get Andrew miller? four of its best prospects. be thankful DD didn't give up more.

Dave feckin DUMBrowski is a feckin IDIOT.

This feckin franchise is FECKED.

anybody watching?
I'm paying attention.

The big money starters are doing what they're paid to do. Porcello might even walk away with a trophy if he keeps racking up the wins. The bullpen is a big question mark and unfortunately the Dombrowski formula of paying for stars and crossing fingers with their bottom relievers is once again rearing its ugly head. Injuries aren't his fault but relying on old and previously damaged relievers to cover innings 7/8 will give us all gray hair. This team should be 25 games above .500. Hopefully with open roster spots and $$ made available next , he will bring his guys that serve this team better in the middle innings. That Fat Panda contact sure limits team options, even for a high budget team.

The offense, for all its run scoring ability, is still so young and inexperienced and I see it in their approach in close games and against stud pitchers. Third base is a black hole despite their many attempts to fill the void. I don't like Betts at #4 behind Ortiz for two reasons. Papi clogs bases and Mookie is swinging for fences now. I know Farrell values the lefty right thing and in high leverage games, that becomes valuable....but...its not perfect now either. Pedroia looks so much more comfortable at lead off plus it lessons annoying double play grounders. Good to see Young back and contributing...which allows Bradley to hit at #9....which I love. Bradley at #9 protects the 7/8 guys and lengthens the lineup. The Saux peaked in run scoring when Bradley was at #9. JMO.

As constructed, this team has a shot...but their key IMO is getting runs on the board early. Playing catch up hasn't worked and their bullpen is just too sketchy...but if they can dictate the course of the game and hurt the opposition starters...then I like their chance.

Bottom line, the Saux are a Built for Fenway team and being #3 seed in the playoffs earns them extra road games which could be problematic. But so much better than the past 2 seasons.......so why not the SAUX!!!

the sox did great on the road the last two west coast trips [7 and 4 and the last one they went 6 and 3]. as far as panda goes. his contract won't hurt them one bit if they decide to move on from him. the sox have plenty of cash. the bullpen worries me as does sloppy base running and hitting with the bases loaded. and then there's the manager. he's clueless.

Rodriguez is so frustrating to watch. One day unhitable the next start he pitches like a ****y. So inconsistent.

Yeah, Rodriguez has been so spooked about the pitch-tipping thing that his at-rest position & windup has become totally messed-up.

He's going to be useless for the remainder of the season; he'll have to wait until the winter to correct everything, or at least attempt to correct everything.

Dumbrowski should've traded for a more reliable #4 plus a more reliable reliever at the deadlines.

so...who is going to be our ever important #3 starter going into the playoffs (if we make it). Porcello and Price are 1 and 2, but # 3 is really up in the air. Wright is still hurt, Rodriguez is a head case and Pomeranz stinks (MLB should redo this trade).

are we counting on Buchholz to save the season? He has looked ok, but damn.

on a good note, this offense is lethal!

4 games up with 12 games to go ... :D:D:D
Everytime Porcello wins I wonder if Felger & MazzHole (PorcelBlow) are paying attention.
They hated on Porcello, Hanley, Bradley ... now they must suffer through this run.
Hopefully it's a long one to the World Series, wouldn't it be something Sox vs Cubs ... how many theo draft/trade picks in that?

MLB Regular Season Standings Major League Baseball

I really, really hope that the Cubs don't make it that far.

If the sox dont go, i wouldnt mind seeing the Cubbies doing it

Just head for the hills if it happens

Amazing how much baseball I am watching these day.. nice to enjoy the Sox again.

This is 6 in a row.. 4 over the NY Yankees and 2 over Baltimore at Baltimore. Impressive pitching and clutch hitting.
