Hey gang, I haven't seen this posted (mods, please delete or merge if it has), but what if Deflategate backfires on Goodell and the rest of the crooked front office and owners?

Scenario: Jimmy Garoppolo starts the season 3-1 or even 4-0. Team with losing record offers Patriots 1st round pick for a now somewhat-proven young quarterback.

I think it would be sweet, sweet karma to see all these idiots just lose their collective minds to see the Patriots come out ahead with 2 first round picks going into the 2017 draft.

Even sweeter? Belichick trades up higher into the first round.

Cherry on top? Brady sues NFL/Goodell/Wells/ESPN and gets awarded discovery at a minimum.

A man can dream...

It would take a lot for our access to Jimmy G plus the lost picks to be overshadowed by the picks we got in trade for him.

  • A rough wash? Possible, although not the most likely outcome.
  • A clear win (in terms of overall pick/player value) for the Pats -- pretty far-fetched.

If Garoppolo is that good I'd want to keep him. That would be more valuable than a first-round pick.

This has been suggested here before. Garoppolo would really have to kill it, but I do think that's the only way we could "win" Deflategate. Even reversing the punishments would just be an even break, so 2 1st for Jimmy and we win.

But I doubt it.

If Jimmy goes 4-0 I want 3 first round picks. They gave that to an unproven RG3.
Plus, that would somewhat recoup the 2 1st round picks the NFL STOLE from the Patriots for the overhyped and fabricated spygate and delategate scandals.

If Jimmy has a solid performance he could certainly demand a 1st and change. He'd have to light it up like nobody's business to demand two 1sts. More than likely, a team trading a 1st for Jimmy would be a significantly higher pick than 29, so it could prove a net gain for the Pats. A top 10 pick would be poetic justice.

Pats have a better chance of getting a first round pick for Brady than Jimmy.

Same here. If he tears it up and there's a chance the Pats have their QBOTF, they need to keep him and not trade him away. Brady will be 40. It sucks, but the team needs to start looking ahead and if they have the next big thing on the roster, he needs to stay there.

The way the Pats have groomed Jimmy works in his favor. Not that he was needed to play right away, but coming in and sitting for 2-3 years before playing is better than thrusting a QB into the starting role immediately.

It didn’t hurt Aaron Rogers, and that is the way teams did it before free agency.

It's the right way to do it. Brady is unquestionably the GOAT and he's my favorite player of all time, but he's getting up there. Decline could happen at any moment when you get to his age and, although he's still playing at an incredibly high level, the team needs to keep the future in mind at the quarterback position now where they didn't have to do that before. That's why I think that the people who aren't watching the first four games are insane. I want to see how only the second guy that the Pats have had line up under center as the unquestioned starter aside from Brady since 2001 does.

I love this kind of speculation and hope it's all true, but I'll be OK with 2--2, a proven backup and a rested Brady who turns that into another first round Bye.

I seriously hope this is not Giselle posting under a pseudonym, looking ahead to younger, better stuff.

What do we get for the emotional toll it has taken on the team, fan base and most of all, TFB?

While going to the SB would be perfect, it'd be the team that earned it. The only way I will feel satisfaction is if the internal communications with the NFL* office get made available and we can dole out the crap we've been receiving to other fans.

Though, I'm sure we'd all take the high road :D.

Man, I would love nothing more than to have a Sony/DNC style hacking of emails with a mass release to the public happen to the NFL.

Does Guccifer 2.0 take requests? :D

The leaks today won't affect jack sh*t and there's already similar evidence against the NFL and...it didn't affect jack sh*t.
