Goodell* sucks. Hard.

I disagree, Roger Goodell reminds me of how broken society is. If it wasn't for him and the corrupt 32. I think I would still be blind and ignorant to it all. So I say thank you to NYJFL* for showing me the truth.

If this thread is word association I'll go with 'Asshat'

OK, I'm for waterboarding. Who's with me? Not kidding, we need to discourage corruption and malevolent abuse of authority.

What is worst thing that ever happened to the NFL?

Oops sorry I thought the title was a jeopardy answer under the category DOUCHEBAGS

Actual Pats Fan statements:

August 9th, 2006:

-I was disappointed, angry and distraught to learn that Roger Goodell has been elected the new commissioner of the National Football League. He is an attorney who knows nothing about football, and that is a recipe for disaster.

September 11, 2007:

-I was disappointed, angry and distraught to learn that coach Mangini made such a trivial complaint to the league. At the most, if deemed necessary, the league should place a phone call of less than three minutes to coach Belichick clarifying where his staff may operate in the stadium during games.

July 16, 2008:

-I was disappointed, angry and distraught to learn that Boston has failed to retain James Posey. Insodoing, the Celtics are saying to the world, including the league, their opponents, their fans and especially the team, "We are NOT committed to multiple and/or consecutive championships. The players do not have our support. Players, you're on your own." Beyond completely agreeing with Tom Heinsohn's assessment, I can say now that it is over. There will be no more championships.

January 20, 2015:

-I was disappointed, angry and distraught to learn that organizations still attempt to waste the league's time with nonsensical accusations, such as these latest of supposed ball tampering by the Patriots. The Baltimore Ravens and Indianapolis Colts should be penalized and fined for making false, trivial complaints only because they are sore losers.

July 24, 2016:

-I was disappointed, angry and distraught to learn that Mort is still spewing his crap that most people, because they are stupid, believe.

I already loved him, but that made me up my respect for him even more than I ever thought was possible.
I'm a little biased as a good friend of mine works there, He's known as The Sales Guy on the site, and I've loved and followed the site for well over a decade.

My buddy was one of the guys that got arrested with Portnoy last year protesting for Brady.

I hope we have the opportunity to make a similarly important statement after the game in Houston February 5th, in the name of justice and rights...

...preferably with Pat Patriot on our helmets & wearing our real uniforms, instead of the insipid, bland, vapid, inscrutable, nondescript, unattractive, inappropriate, stoic, lifeless profile that the NFL perpetrated upon us in 1993.

For some reason I assumed he was an attorney at that time too. He's not. Though he has spent his entire career cloistered among NFL executives and owners - and if he WAS an attorney we wouldn't be in this mess.

Pretty much any qualified attorney would have some understanding of arbitration and the need to follow a fair due process to adjudicate matters in keeping with the CBA and basic established labor law

At times I think Goodell is feigning ignorance - but at times I think he's just stupid - like when he did a 180 degree turn on the cellphone issue, pretty much failed to address the matters actually before him as Arbitrator and just randomly came up with a new charge and penalty that Brady never saw coming or had a chance to defend himself against.

I mean, when you walk in to appeal a decision and then the arbitrator just ignores that while trumping up a random new charge, it's a pretty significant miscarriage of justice.

The bottom line is that Goodell may have won the battle but he lost the war - as Sally Jenkins noted he's done as Comissioner having no credibility with players or anyone who actually knows the facts here

My feeling is that Goodell's "retirement" is going to be used as a bargaining chip with the NFLPA, seeking some type of concession - but Goodell is done - Brady won the war ultimately as Roger will be out the ego boost and $30 mil a season salary that being NFL Commissioner brought

The "truth" is always known but when the NFL history books are written it will reflect that Goodell was the worst Commissioner in the history of the NFL, despite the increase in revenues (which truly, he had very little to do with - the popularity of the NFL has more to do with Brady than with Goodell and that's a fact

If Kraft had any backbone he would strangle Goodell with piano wire, but we all know about Backboneless Bob Kraft the Draft.
