Sally Jenkins Eviscerates Goodell in Washington Post

Continuing with my factory chicken slaughterhouse theme, before they eviscerate them, they give them an anal cleansing to clean them really good. Goodell needs that as he is really full of it. ;)
Get those hoses from Silkwood.

Yep. I kinda put Montville in a different category than Willie as he is a columnist and author of a number of books. From a writing standpoint, while I am certainly not an expert critic, I put Montville a couple levels above Shank. His books just had more depth than his.

With that said, if you wanted a story and juice no one was better than Willie.

I think the story is that when Whitey got out of prison (I think the stretch in Atlanta) Willie got him a job at the Globe in the copy room. Whitey lasted 2 weeks.
Yes, I think what happened was that Whitey got nabbed cleaning out the dough from all of the vending machines in the cafeteria.

Have to disagree with you saying "Sally lost." You don't lose when you speak the truth and are on the right side.

Shaughnessey's just pathetic. He's always believed that taking positions against the Boston fan makes him somehow noble, or tough, or something. He's just pointlessly contrarian and smallminded. Awful person.
In fact, sometimes you do lose when you speak the truth and are on the right side. Brady is example #1. The fact is that life is only always fair in fairy tales. It's quixotic to pretend that Brady and Jenkins didn't lose, but the hard reality of life is that they did - Brady much more than Jenkins.

Mike Reiss seems to be enjoying the latest bash Roger Articles: :D

Poorly written article by Joe. Great, he doesn't believe Brady had anything to do with ordering the footballs to be deflated under the league requirement. Brilliant, wanna know why? Because the balls were never deflated to begin with, Joe.

Secondly, his "but I do believe Spygate is much, much worse than we know" is so ignorant. Yes, placing a camera on the sidelines instead of in the stands FOR ONE GAME provided sooo much advantage to the Pats. It was such a big deal that the league didn't care about it until the 2006 offseason when they told teams to stop putting cameras on the sideline via a friggen memo without even amending the NFL bylaws.

Ignorance abound.

Just picked up Howie Carr's book 'The Brothers Bulger" which was conveniently right next to me and apparently the copy job was a no-show gig Willie set him up with. Didn't say why or if he was fired.

Paid him$76 a week. LOL

I agree but I was eluding to Mike Reiss who works for BSPN posting anti Goodell articles. I'll bet deep inside he has wanted to write an article with that type of tone for a long time.

Disagree, but probably should have been clearer--it's obviously true good people get screwed all the time. I was really referring to Jenkins here, and her position as an opinion journalist. Disagree that she "lost." (Sorry, this is probably a good topic to spend more time on, what "losing" would mean in this context, but I don't have the time, and now don't want to delete what I've already written. Damn lazy.)

My bad, Tony. I understood your point of the post but as I read Joe's piece I got a little irate considering that's one of the more rational pieces you'll read from somebody outside the NE market (sans Jenkins/Florio). It's amazing how ignorant so many people are.

It's pretty apparent that Reiss has his own opinion of Roger but can't fully express himself because of his employer. Instead, he references a lot of other articles and provides the occasional nugget that supports the Pats.

Finally just watched Black Mass on HBO last week. Its great reviews were well-deserved.

You know Reiss is squelched. With that said it's self-imposed.

I was a slightly disappointed but liked it. Seemed to drag a little. Loved the book.

With that said Depp was excellent.

Goodell still has a job making an 8 figure annual salary for screwing up a sport I used to really enjoy watching. Tom Brady is sitting out a 1/4 of the season. The NFL has officially denigrated into nothing more than an outlet for nastiness and stupidity.

To add insult to injury, Goodell resides in the most batsh*t crazy state in New England without any negative consequences.

I fail to see how Goodell has "lost" in any way, shape, or form.

This is exactly it, you nailed it, especially your opening sentence.

I've been watching the NFL my whole life and loving every minute of it, but the first time that this hobby of mine got incredibly soured was literally the year after Goodell was hired as the NFL Commissioner. Since that day, the Patriots have been punished with unprecedented penalties multiple times and are a constant target of the league off the field.

There isn't any proof, but you could even point to things like Gronk having more offensive PI's than most other teams have combined among all their skill position players.. or Brady having like more than double the yardage of the next QB that were lost due to penalties (He had over 500 yards lost to penalty). That Denver game last year in the regular season was the most in your face obvious BS one-sided officiating I've ever seen since the 2006 AFCCG.

No other dynasty or great team is ever discussed with controversy, scandals or accusations... Only the Patriots.. and it all started with Roger Goodell, who is slowly destroying what use to be a great escape from reality on Sundays.

Either the owners have decided to incorporate some "Real World" reality tv angle to their product and milk more money from the 24/7 coverage, or Goodell is one of the most corrupt pieces of garbage that has ever held the office of NFL Commissioner and is carrying out a personal vendetta that he's held onto from his 20+ years with the Jets.... or both.

and I simply find it incredible that every other sports league's commissioners do everything they can to limit controversy in the media coverage... Goodell literally creates controversy.

It is amazing. Everything was hunky-dorry around here until Goody showed up with his brownshirts.

Think of all the **** that has happened to this franchise before he arrived on the scene that the league let slide.

Goody would have had a conniption.

1990- Lisa Olsen - Goody (...and rightfully so) would have nailed the players and Kiam to a cross.
1986- Coke scandal- Goody would have got bat-**** with suspentions
1985- Rust implemented a "most sacks on the QB" incentive. Gawd
1979- Willie McDonough and Ray Clayborn get into a fight. Goody would have had a field day.

While I love Sally Jenkins and wanna marry her, I actually disagree with this tiny excerpt from her:

IMO Brady lost in the court of public opinion. Pretty much 99% of non-pats fans think he's a cheater.

He has won in the court of public opinion only because he has swayed the rational non-Pats fans. There is a large segment of the population who will continue to believe Brady cheated even if Ted Well and Roger Goodell came out and said they framed Brady. This group would just say that they are falling on their swords to protect Brady.

Brady swaying guys like Peter King, who has his head up Goodell's butt, and Mike Florio is a huge win for him.

Whitey Bulger is a lowlife pos scumbag ****y. Sorry but I know people who were victimized by him and his ****y friends. F**k him. Almost wish I was doing time with him- I'd pigstick him in the gut and twist the **** out of it. Sorry for the language and I'm a nonviolent person. I am now anyway. But I'd make an exception in his case.

I agree, Jim. He deserves to die in prison painfully.

Just discussing him in a historical sense. Not intending to glorify him.

No, no what you wrote was fine- I have a pretty thick skin most of the time, but I'm probably not completely rational when it comes to him. That being said, I followed every minute of his trial down here in nc via Howie Carr's superb coverage. It was riveting. I plan to read his book at dome point. He did a helluva job covering that trial. I've seen the aftermath of bulgers dirty work- he was a weasel-not a tough guy.

The Brothers Bulger is a great book. Highly suggest it.
