Article: Miguel is NFL worthy (my judgement)

Well written article.
I cannot imagine the amount of work needed to do what he does. And yes, Miguel's contribution is far more than just spreadsheet output. Miguel uses his cap insight to propose insightful alternative player moves the Pats could or might make. Why posters here at Patfans post trade or cut suggestions that show no cap sanity confounds me. Inexcusable with this resource.

"“I was born in Cambridge,” said Benzan."
Hey, I was born at Cambridge City Hospital! Maybe we're related?
What we have in common is playing with spreadsheets, love of the Patriots and the fact that we were both driven out of MA to other states.

Miguel, you are the man. We're grateful for helping us understand the comings and goings in Foxboro all these years.

Two comments: 1) Nice shot across Felger's bow, and 2) kudos to you and the reporter for getting Ben Volin to fess up that he depends on your web site and, by extension, this board for all of his information.

Thank you, Miguel, for all you do! That is sincere and you should be proud.

He is hands down the best and will always take time if anyone has questions.

It does my heart good to see Miguel start to get some well deserved recognition from this article. My only complaint is that it probably is about a decade late in coming. Miguel has been doing this for a long time. Felger should be ashamed his views on the cap are so wrong when he's had "the source" available to him well over a decade. It will be a great day when we finally hear that Miguel is going to be on F&M to educate the ignorant on the nuances of the NFL cap.

The thing that's great about what @Ian has put together here is it provides and opportunity for contributors to impart their knowledge and well thought-out opinions without ridicule or recourse. It is the very definition of a community

What is even more amazing is people like Miguel and others who put a ton of work into their efforts and ask for nothing in return but what the reader receives makes them more informed.

Thanks, @Miguel. Your work is MUCH appreciated.

Ironic that the smartest words to ever come out of Volin's mouth are because of a Patriots fan and cap guru. Thus the power of @Miguel.

Keep up the great work @Miguel. You'd be an asset anywhere you went. Thankfully, you're ours.

Nice to see Miguel getting the recognition he surely deserves.

The question isn't if Miguel is worthy of the NFL. The question is if the NFL is worthy of him.

With Goodell as Commissioner, I'd say no..

Miguel gets major props from the Globe

Nice article giving much praise for Miguel, our resident capologist.. have heard comments in the past from Sports Talk hosts who say they go to his page for up to date salary cap information.. without regard the world now knows what we have known for a long period, Miguel is the salary cap guru for Pats Fans.com.

The recognition for Miguel is well deserved..

How one Patriots fan made himself a salary cap guru

Long before Miguel Benzan was widely recognized as an expert on the Patriots salary cap, he was a fan like anyone else, happily consuming all of the information he could about his team in the newspaper. That was until one day when he spotted an annoying discrepancy.

“I was reading in the the Herald that it would cost X amount of dollars to cut a player and his contract was worth X amount,” Benzan recalled. “The Globe the next day had entirely different figures. So I just said if I could keep track of it.”
