Brady accepting suspension:(

I actually feel a little relieved to be honest. Even though the outcome is horrible, at least we know now. I can only imagine how stressed Brady was not knowing what would happen, and how irritating it all was to BB.

I'm also a fair bit excited rooting for Jimmy and the rest of the team. There would be few things sweeter than Brady's backup going 4-0 and completely ruining the NYJFL's schemes.

" innocent men wouldnt give up " hmm how does tom accept a 4 game suspension for something that never happened???? this will drive him crazy for a long time. i hope never does any off the field things for the nfl. no sit down interviews/still pissed that he attended that SB mvp halftime farce!
English, please?

It's just a bad day for us Pat's fans. I had proclaimed I would never watch another NFL game again, ever after the suspension was announced. I rejoiced and said **** you to all the haters when Tom won in court, and played the whole season.

Now this happens, and I'm just torn up about it. I feel physically worn from this. I usually get excited about everything Patriots, including training camp, preseason games, etc. But once again, that excitement is gone. I'm not sure I want to watch the NFL anymore. I feel the league is so corrupt, it's just very disappointing. I don't know if I want to waste my time.

Honestly, I'm the kind of guy that roots for the team, not the name on the back of jersey, but Brady has given us so much, and this whole debacle has ripped the heart out of me. I should be rooting Garoppolo on, but I don't feel enthusiastic about football anymore.

I feel your rage... the one thing that I'm focusing on is rooting for the team to survive this BS and root for Jimmy.. there are expectations of him, he was drafted with a 2nd round pick for this exact scenario, albeit with more of an injury type situation in mind rather than a suspension, but he was drafted to be the guy to step up in this situation.

Then what I'll be extra excited about is week 5, when Brady returns with the fury of a thousand suns and a thirst for vengeance.

The curtain has been pulled back on the NFL, and for many it will never be the same.

While I whole-heartily agree.

I think you have to put the selfish and/or jealous owners in that category as well.

That's who I meant when I said screw the 31, the other owners and their fans, screw them all.

I'm doing what Toms doing- onto football. Tom did not lose. Goodell lost. The loser crybaby teams lost. Pats will smoke the league. Pats are favored in 3 of 1st 4. But I think zona will be close. A few tidbits I saw on how JG can win all 4: cards are one of worst teams in NFL defending 2tes.:) zonas also blitz-happy-we know TB destroys that- hopefully some of that has rubbed off on JG. Miami ranks #26 vs. "11" personnel( 1rb 1te 3wrs). TB destroyed them with this. If Dion is healthy-look out! Texans d one of worst vs. playaction- and of course TB may be greatest playaction qb of all time-again some has had to rub off on JG. Finally the Bills d is terrible against qbs who get rid of ball fast-all TBs passes in 1st game were under 2.2 seconds- fastest in 1 game in the last 5 years. By then hopefully Jules is a go- maybe lot of qhick strikes. So I see no worse than 3-1-and then the fire- breathing goat enters to lay waste to everyone in his path. This is going be afun year!

I wish the NFL would lose viewers and $$ over something like this...but it won't and never will. Too big of a machine and i love this team too much to stop watching

This is actually a brilliant move in convincing the SCOTUS that the case is about the rights of union members in arbitration proceedings. Since Tom no longer has a personal stake in the case, the fact that the NFLPA is going to proceed with the appeal is stronger IMO. Whether or not there was any ball deflation or not is moot (something you would think the dumba$$e$ on the 2nd CA would have understood).

mediots: He should just drop the appeal and accept the suspension

(drops appeal)

mediots: He's admitting guilt by dropping the appeal

no you idiots he's doing it for the good of the '16 Patriots season.

My 2 cents:

1. I was out of town working for a change and didn't hear the news until I got back to my hotel room and hooked up the wifi. I only read the last 3 pages of the 13 page thread, so my apologies in advance for any redundancies.

2. In a strict football sense, it was probably for the best. One of the worst things you can have in a football season is uncertainty. Now the situation is clear. The Pats know what the situation is and can plan accordingly for it.

3. I hate it. I hate it. I HATE IT! Goodell's apparent victory is appalling, galling, and just plain WRONG! I can only hope that Brady will eventually file that defamation suit, and SCOTUS takes the NFLPA's case. Because it IS an important issue that needs to be sorted out. Unfortunately I doubt now that either of those things will happen. In the end, I can only hope that some intrepid investigative reporter will "write the book on this miscarriage of justice, and history will rewrite the wrong that was was perpetrated today.

4. And although I am massively pissed and permanently pissed off at the NFL forever; I hope we can keep this massive injustice in some perspective given its impact in comparison with what's going on in the rest of the world. THIS miscarriage of justice is small potatoes compared the the injustices we are seeing every day.

5. BTW- we should also know that these injustices have been going on LONG before these current years, it's just that the internet, social media, regular media make everything so immediate and global. When I was growing up in the 50's Boston regularly had over 100 homicides in a year. That rate is down to around 40 on average. Yet we are led to believe that more people are being killed than ever, because if no one is getting killed here, they will tell you about someone who was murdered somewhere else.

6. Pardon me for getting OT.

7. An interesting speculation now that we know the suspension will happen. Brady will be able to practice with the team during preseason, however after the final roster has been announced, he can no longer be with the team or even go to the stadium for the next 4 weeks (IIRC). So my question will be, what will Brady do to keep himself ready and prepared for when he does come back. I really don't think we can expect a 100% Brady in week 5 after not being with the team for the last 4 weeks. I can only hope that Brady will be 85-90% when he comes back.

8. This is a really good team that is going to play a lot of very tough games this season. So this team is going to have to be particularly mentally tough because they are going to me in a LOT of close games.

9. In the end we are losing our QB and best player for a quarter of the season....but it's JUST a quarter of the season. Denver won a superbowl without ITS HOF QB....and it was an improvement. ;). The Texans made the playoffs and never had a QB as good as JG for the entire season. And there are many other examples.

The team WILL survive these 4 games, and in the end they COULD be better off for the experience as several people have mentioned. However none of this changes the fact that this is just so very, VERY wrong in so many ways.

10. BTW- as a fan base we were constantly outstanding in standing up to the misrepresentations and out right lies that the NFL, the haters, and the ignorant have tried to spread. It would have been easy to just "let it go" after it going on so long. The fact that we didn't is a credit to our species. However we cannot stop now. If we hear or read stupidity and lies, we need to continue to put them down with the same ferocity as in the past.

11. BTW-2. I happen to be in Wilkes-Barre, PA the weekend, and was wearing my Pats Championship cap in a local casual restaurant this evening. In the booth next to ours was a group of people in the 40's I guess, 2 of which had Steeler paraphernalia on. One thing led to another an a great discussion went on. The general tenor of the Steeler fans were that they were THRILLED with the suspension, BUT to a man, they acknowledged that Brady didn't do anything.

So I think in the end, most fans know it was all Bull ****, but it was BS that hurts us and helps THEIR team, so in that short sighted sense it is a good thing.

12. I have by and large defended Bob Kraft on these pages despite the horrendous decision he initially made in this case. He has publicly acknowledged his mistake and his 20+ years of superior ownership of this franchise far out weighs this one incredibly bad misstep.

That being said, I had better NOT see any clips or pictures of him making nice to Roger Goodell after this point. Icy politeness better be the limit of his interaction with Goodell at this point.

13. Oh, my, I have once again rambled on. It's past midnight and I have a 5:45am wake up call, so I better end this. ;)

Hopefully all the shenanigans that Rog and the league have pulled leads to a lengthy work stoppage. If they lose a season they'll lose viewers.

I know I'm in the minority in saying this, but I really think the Tom/the team was guilty. However, I do think what they allegedly did -- deflating footballs -- is laughably insignificant. I don't think it tarnishes Tom's legacy at all. I don't care what sensationalized networks like ESPN say, the knowledgeable and respectable writers won't bat an eye over it.

Jerry Rice admitted to using stick-um. Joe Montana, when asked about the accusations, laughed it off, and admitted his lineman used to slick up their jerseys to help fend off opposing defensive linemen. Lots of the greats had minor infractions. I think bending the rules a little bit is within the spirit of the game.

I think Tom is the best quarterback ever. I'm glad he's our guy. I'm just happy this is over with. It's dragged on for way, way too long.

Just like to say sorry for what your going through right now TB. We know the needless stress and mud thrown your way by other fans over this completely unjustifiable ruling. There is no shame in trying to get on with your life after you have fought the good unwindable fight. Im sure the legal fees alone are not worth continuing. Heck you might even see it as a well desurved vacation for all the good you do.
Roger Goodell your an ass hat two faced juvinile egomaniac. Remeber to stay in your appartment like a coward and you did last time in NO, and enjoy the hotel food because I doubt youll get served anywhere else.
Saints nation stands behind Tom. Im sure he made the best judgement for him and his family. There was a certian relief for our fans that it was over, even though we looked guilty. Hope Pats fans can put things behind them and know alot of Saints fans really respected how Tom fought so hard.

I'm glad it's finally over. Tom Brady fought the good fight until the moment when further expenditure of funds seeking relief from the courts became unfeasible.

Tom Brady has my support as a fan and and a citizen who cares about limits on power that allow the unfairly accused to redress their grievances.

The NFLPA has to step up now and formulate a strategy to reform the collective bargaining agreement. The NHL has the most thoughtful, objective grievance procedure with checks and balances. The NFLPA must be willing to walk out or be locked out if they receive anything less than a disciplinary procedure that is fair and includes the players, GMs, and owners as partners in the review of every sanction.

Good luck, Tom Brady. Stay dignified. Prepare for 2016 as best you can. Support Jimmy Garoppolo in every way possible. Come back stronger and more determined knowing that you have our support and admiration.

Just like "spygate" the Saints weren't doing anything that hadn't been a common practice in the NFL for decades and decades and their only real mistake was ignoring the memo. The real problem is Roger Goodell and the NY JETS run league office. It's not surprising that the same incompetents who couldn't run a franchise have failed miserably at running the league. What needs to happen now is a fan movement to "give the fans what they really want" which is a complete housecleaning of these league office, starting with Roger Goodell but including everyone above the status of receptionist.

Good luck to your Saints this season.

Ken, you were in my territory! I work in Pittston, PA which is only about 7 miles up the road from Wilkes-Barre, and live a few miles up the road from that. What were you doing in these parts? Work-related?

Let me refresh your memory. Kraft issued a bold statement prior to the owners meeting and then crawled out on all fours apologizing to his fellow owners and their fan bases for winning too much. In my opinion the craven capitulation is and was his true sentiment and everything he said after that was PR and window dressing.
Actually the time for Kraft to stand up for his team and its fans was in 2007. If he has shown any courage then this incident would not have happened

Okay but back in 2007 in Spygate, there was actual evidence that the Pats were filming defensive signals. There's nothing to defend there.

Now, in this situation the only recourse Bob had was to appeal to Goodell and we all saw what happened to Tom. So what else did you want him to do? Sue the league which opens up a Pandora's Box of pain not only for Tom and the Pats but for the League itself.

Filming defensive signals was not against the rules then. What the BB did was did not agree with Goodell's interpretation as issued in a memo about location of the camera. Kraft threw BB under the bus at the behest of Mara and Rooney to allegedly protect the Shield. Try getting your facts straight please.

I wanted him to stand by the GOAT coach in 2007 and work to get rid of Rog. He could have built relationships with the teams getting hammered by Rog and been in a good position to oust Rog after the Ray Rice fiasco. Instead he stood beside Rog at every hamfisted punishment and during the Ray Rice fiasco.

The signs were out there that Rog is a two faced scumbag and the league's front office was anti-Patriots. Trying to make nice with Rog was a big mistake and one that Bob seems to be standing by.
