Brady accepting suspension:(

unfortunately..

btw kudos to all of the posters on this site who read all of the documents/providing everyone on here with info. at the end, it was a gigantic waste of time.:)
I think that those of us who put in that time are really the only ones who can evaluate that use of time. Speaking personally, I feel it was time well spent and that I learned a lot. For me, life is a continual exercise in learning and expanding horizons. I also value the time I spent standing outside the Courthouse last summer so I could shout a word of encouragement to TB. He doesn't know me from Adam, but he looked over and smiled just before he climbed into his SUV after I yelled "We love ya, Tommy. One more for the thumb."

cool story.

watching around the horn atm, bill plaschke calling brady a cheater bothers me. lol this is the same dude who worships kobe bryant who raped a woman!

I feel like goodell won the war and it makes me sick. The only justice would be to win the superbowl. I can't believe this crap.

I don't know where I should post this but this bothers me a lot. I'm sick to my gut of the NFL over this. I am not ready to watch a game and I don't know if I ever will be again. The whole organisation comes into question over what Goodell has done.

I definitely won't watch a game before week 5 but I'm not sure I could even stomach it then. This whole process has really upset me. It's clear that Tom Brady and the Patriots were railroaded here and it's just so wrong that a person who runs a company can get away with doing this.

I've never hoped for ill will on anybody in my life but I'm very close to wishing it on Roger Goodell now.

Just saw that and I love it. Showed he has no idea of the actual facts of the case. But his ESPN bosses I bet will give him a nice bonus for making sure he kept the company message in check and towed the line.

I'm not sure this victory was worth it. Outside of NE, I bet people would toss beer at Goodell, but buy Brady one most of the time. No sponsor has dropped Brady. Both have taken hits, but nationwide, Goodell's reputation clearly has been punch-drunk....or what we now call CTE.

If he's still around for the next collective bargaining agreement, Goodell is "more probable than not" going to preside over a strike-shortened season.

Adam Silver’s NBA is dominating Roger Goodell’s NFL in every way this summer

What I find the most perplexing in all of this crap is how current and former players went out of their way in bashing Brady with such hollow suspension. Such reckless accusations can and will potentially affect them in future grievances. Brady was singlehandedly trying to set a precedent, to offset the union's negotiating shortcomings. To bash on one of your fellow union members for your own personal gain is just baffling.

Hate this outcome but totally understand the decision. I think Tom didn't want to risk getting suspended late in the season or during the playoffs if the supreme court decided then.

OTOH by fighting as long as he did, he did accomplish two things.

  • He gave Garoppolo an extra season to prepare.
  • He divorced his suspension from the theft of the first rounder. (Yes, it's a loss, but the NFL wanted that pick to be a lot earlier than 29.)

Granted I'm not the one who has to deal with, and I'd try to convince myself there are other ways to "win" aside from in court. I'd even try to convince myself that the continued legal battle would prohibit the real "win" on the field.

But in the end, I can't help but keep repeating to myself "I guess the Patriot Way includes accepting punishment from the league".

Edit: But at least Brady had some fight in him I guess... I suffered injustice, I spent 7 years in school to get a law degree to try and correct it. Opportunity cost of that was way more than Brady's 4 games' wages.

Too bad he gave in, but this must have been done in conjunction with all of his advisers and attorneys..

I hate to see his rep tarnished by such idiocy..
What? Whose rep tarnished? I don't see Brady any differently than I have since I first heard of him at Michigan.

My dear, dear friend, surely you have better things to do in your life than to waste it watching ATH?

Anyone down for sending the Browns team 500 things of KY Jelly a few months in advance?

Eric davis on the rich eisen show says it was bought on by tom. he shouldve simply said thats how he likes the footballs ! WTF is with these people ???Why would anyone admit something they didnt do ?Just getting so angry with the media victory lap today.

Avoiding anything ESPN is a good thing, I have mixed feelings about today, the game I'm going to this season is the Bengals game, would love to see the stadium nearly full when TFB comes out for warm ups then...

Let me get this straight, in some peoples' minds The Supreme Court taking on a case solely regarding labor law and litigation would have proved that Brady wasn't a cheater but because they denied the request to take on a case solely regarding labor law and litigation he's definitely a cheater?

It's just a bad day for us Pat's fans. I had proclaimed I would never watch another NFL game again, ever after the suspension was announced. I rejoiced and said **** you to all the haters when Tom won in court, and played the whole season.

Now this happens, and I'm just torn up about it. I feel physically worn from this. I usually get excited about everything Patriots, including training camp, preseason games, etc. But once again, that excitement is gone. I'm not sure I want to watch the NFL anymore. I feel the league is so corrupt, it's just very disappointing. I don't know if I want to waste my time.

Honestly, I'm the kind of guy that roots for the team, not the name on the back of jersey, but Brady has given us so much, and this whole debacle has ripped the heart out of me. I should be rooting Garoppolo on, but I don't feel enthusiastic about football anymore.
