Brady accepting suspension:(

I still would be willing to kick in some bucks for a group to hire a helicopter and drop a few tons of steaming cow manure onto the front of Goodell's house in Maine.

No, cow manure would benefit his yard once it is rinsed off.

A good replacement for Goodell would be Vince McMahon. He would be the perfect guy to take over after Roger. Clearly, the NFL owners are moving in that direction.

A good replacement for Goodell would be pretty much anybody but Goodell.

If there's any justice in this universe, there will come a time when Commissioner Scheisskopf has to testify under oath about what happened here, exposing the extent of his duplicity, corruption and abject stupidity.

I actually disagree that people will look at this as an admission of guilt. People who think he's guilty will always think that way. People who thought he was innocent won't change their mind because of this decision.

Actually from what I'm seeing the reaction is quite favorable to Brady himself for this decision.

this statement is so ridiculously pathetic

Actually, with all due respect, I get that statement. I really do. I go back to the 70's with this team, through plenty of heartache but never anything like this. The NFL has not only alienated one of its greatest players of all time and one of its top franchises of all time. It has done so over Deflategate. I repeat, over Deflategate!

We could lose to the Giants in another Super Bowl this year and I'm not sure that could be worse than how the NFL/Goodell has handled Deflategate, our team and our Tom Brady! (well, maybe not but you get the point). They literally divided an entire fan base permanently from the the fanbases of the rest of the league's teams.....hell, I even have good friends that I cannot even discuss this issue with in a civil manner. That infuriates me!

As we see the NFL leadership/ownership handle the concussions issue like the Tobacco industry handled the links to cancer...... their laughable talk of 18 game seasons, changing/crapping on the rules of the game, moving shamelessly into the gambling industry, and money grabbing foreign markets that we could care less about....is it really that inconceivable that some of us might begin to re-evaluate our priorities as fans and consumers when it comes to the NFL. I think it's totally fair.

I would even say, what better time to do that than when Bill and Tom retire?! It doesn't mean that we won't keep the Pats forever in our hearts, but there's literally not a better way way to say FU to Goodell and the 32 greedy as hell NFL owners than with our pocketbooks and time.

Going for 5, baby!! Our ultimate FU!!

Peace

Here it is:

I wish he would have fought it to the end, even if hopeless. Failing to take it to the bitter end will just give the haters more ammo.

Maybe he knows something we don't know

Kraft statement:
Statement from New England Patriots Chairman and CEO Robert Kraft

The penalty imposed by the NFL was unprecedented, unjust and unreasonable, especially given that no empirical or direct evidence of any kind showed Tom did anything to violate League rules prior to, during or after the 2015 AFC Championship Game. What Tom has had to endure throughout this 18-month ordeal has been, in my opinion, as far removed from due process as you could ever expect in this country.

Kraft's statement is bold and says what we're all thinking.

Unfortunately it's WAY too late now.

Wish he was that bold from the start and maybe we wouldn't be here...

Speak for yourself about Kraft "Todd".

So...you're not thinking that...

Really? You're not thinking that? Okay then, why are you even here "PatsFan2"?

Todd if you are buying that from Kraft I have Bridge I like to sell you.

Everyone is throwing in their 2 cents so here's mine :D

1) I honestly believe that, for Brady, this was about gaining some certainty. Sometimes it is worse to have something looming over you for so long than it is to just bite the bullet, not to mention the very real possibility that he would have to serve the suspension later in the season (or playoffs).

2) I know his MyFace post says he will "no longer proceed with the legal process" but I have no doubt he would allow the NFLPA to use his name on the suit if they want to proceed. He will still have about a quarter million at stake, but that is something that I doubt he would lose a second of sleep over.

3) I will still be paying close attention to CA8 to see how they rule with Peterson. It could be a textbook example of a split-circuit.

4) The NFLPA has until mid-October to move forward. Stay tuned.

I'm not buying anything. It's the truth of how most of us feel right now.

I've been as critical of Kraft as anyone on here. I still to this day think he fudged it, but my personal feelings aside, his statement resonates.

He's not saying "Just wait fans! I'm going to do more!", so there's really no reason to get up in arms about it. What's done is done.

Lets just agree to disagree and leave it at that good day.

Well, this sounds bad for the United States. I'm disappointed Tom Brady will not continue this fight to the bitter end.

The one thing I'll take from this is it opened up my eyes on the corruption of the group of 32 and how powerful the propaganda machine is. With the precedent this set for arbitration having no effect on me, this ends up being a net positive for me for what I've learned of the NYJFL* and how the media is used.

I really hope that they still take this to the Supreme Court even though Brady sits the first 4 games.

It's all good - SB victory #5 is guaranteed barring a multitude of key injures like last season.
