Court denies Brady a re-hearing!!!

According to @IanPGunn there were no dissents from the denial of rehearing. Doesn't mean that everyone voted in favor of denial, only that no one was worked up enough to publish a dissenting opinion.

Given that the en banc grant rate is so low, is it common for anyone to publish a dissent in cases like this? My gut tells me no, but IANAL.

This is what we all expected from the outset, but seeing it in print really hurt. This MAY be a correct decision according the "law" or precedent, but as we know the "law" is not always just.

No Ken. It's not what "we all expected from the outset". In fact, many of us had hopes that the 2CA would do the right thing and grant at least grant En Banc because the evidence is so crystal clear that the Commissioner violated the Laws of Arbitration. And people were saying this BEFORE Kenneth Feinberg filed his amicus brief.

The fact that the 2CA has chosen not to rehear it just said that an Arbitrator can make sh*t up and doesn't have to follow the rules of arbitration and can deal out his/her own brand of industrial justice..

2014? So, I was supposed to know they were going to do this before it even happened?

2015, I watched occasionally, but only in situations where that tv was going to be tuned in to the game whether I watched it or not.

Have fun. Just remember that you are doing exactly what Goodell and Kraft knew you would do, which is why they did this in the first place and why they are fully incentivized to do it again, and again, and again...

Whatever.

Billions of fans not watching the NFL or abstaining from buying gear is not realistic. Real change is when the players go on strike and demand the CBA be changed or Goodell is forced out of power.

If you want to be righteous about it get off this board as the more posts and posters Ian has the more advertising revenue he gets from the Patriots Pro Shop.

this basically destroys any enthusiasm i had for the upcoming season

what does tom do now?? he's going to show to training camp/etc work hard for nothing since he's suspended the first 4 games. does he take snaps with the second team now? jimmy needs 1st team reps. basically brady's summer has been destroyed.

im so ****ing angry right now

Given that she and Scalia were—politics aside—very close friends, I think we can give her enough credit to assume "guilt by association" won't factor into this.

yeah.....it's a little too late for that

Definitely is, but it would make my homer self feel better :(

I still think this entire saga became screwed when Brady got up to that podium and played dumb instead of vehemently denying the accusations and setting the record straight.

The passive approach bit him in the ***

Billions? lol

Goodell and Kraft knew that when they came up with this scheme in the first place. You want to go along with it and just play along? Fine. But don't act like it's the right thing to do.

Why would I be opposed to Ian taking their money? It's giving money to them to which I am opposed.

except that he watched

you either watch or you don't watch.......the notion that 'oh I watched because the TV happened to be on that channel' is as spineless and lame as it gets

So, here we are hoping for a successful Hail Mary appeal to the Supreme Court to rescue Brady from a penalty for something that never happened. How did we get here?

1. A petty NFL employee steals a kicking ball prior to a game in BAL and, to avoid immediate discovery, replaces same with a frsh out of the box new - underinflated - football.

2. Ravens note substandard ball and suspect Belichick shenanigans (because Belichick is always the *first* explanation)

3. Ravens whine to NYJFL friends

4. Ravens tell IND to be on lookout.

5. NYJFL underlings, sensing a chance to crack the Strawberries in the Wardroom Case, cook up a sting with Colts

6. Colts sieze game ball and illegally tamper with it, measuring pressure without authority

7. Find, as weather conditions demand, that ball pressure is below Rule 2 specifications

8. Kensil and Grigson go into raptures and run to Goodell for their forehead stickers

9. Goodell sets in motion the NYJFL's propaganda wing, BSPN

10. Belichick lays the wood with his Mona Lisa Vito press conference

11. NYJFL sees too much fight in that dog so redirects to Brady

12. Goodell hires Wells to cook up fake study, exacts heavy-handed penalties based on it.

13. Brady appeals

14. Goodell decides Goodell was right all along.

15. Kraft caves[ entered only once for brevity]

16. Brady goes to court

17. Berman says "NYJFL? WTF?"

18. NYJFL appeals

19. Chin rings up Mara and asks what the case is about; Mara says Brady cheated; Chin says 'ok, got it'.

20. Chin goes into the tank and takes lazy parker with him; Chief of 2C embarassed by their laziness and stupidity

21. Brady appeals

22. 2C circles the wagons around Chin and Parker; deny Brady

23. ???

at this point, I am looking at it as just another obstacle......just another poking of the bear.....the pats will kick ass again and that's it

He was damned if he did and damned if he didn't really. People outside of NE fans mainly think he's a cheater regardless of what he says and how he says it. And they've believed that since before this whole mess took place. Anything he said wouldn't have changed anything.

I checked on PACER and it's a simple 1-sentence denial: "IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that the petition is denied."

I hear you........I have figured for some time now that this is where it was going to wind up and I hate the feeling of jackoff goodell getting his way no matter how wrong it is.....dwelling on it would drive me nuts

if you go back to bountygate, none of us here had any sympathy for the saints

A victory for parity honks everywhere.

People wonder why Pats fans come off grumpy and defensive to outsiders? We're backed into a corner taking unfair slings and arrows from not just rivals but random fans, some players, the media, and the freaking league. Been happening for almost 15 years. Oddly enough I think these adverse situations don't break us, they just make us circle the wagons and stand by the team and each other. That goes for the team itself too, I'm betting.

I really believe if you're a Pats fan, it's unique and unlike being a fan of any other team in North American pro sports. If you aren't a Pats fan, you don't get it.

If there is any truth to the theory (I don't think this happened but in case it did ) that Brady did ask his equipment guys to make sure footballs were 12.5 if they felt "wrong" - like in that Jets game - then lesson learned.

If it happens again - Belichick should keep his team off the field until it is fixed and then make a lot of noise about it and demand blood until he gets it.

Well, that's that, I guess. See you all July 28th and EVERY WEEK after that until February 2017. I am not going anywhere and my team, my organization will have my full support.
