The 25 biggest 'villains' in New England Patriots history

The first three should be fairly obvious to any fan of the Patriots, though many would flip-flop numbers two and three.

After that most of the nominees I am okay with, though I would have re-ordered the list, moving several up or down.

Off the top of my head I could think of only one glaring omission.

Hint: Ken Stabler himself said it was not a penalty.

Bernard Pollard has got to be in the Top 5, right? Cost us at least one ring (2011), two shots at a ring (2009 and 2012) and who knows what would have happened in 2008 with Tom Brady coming off a career season.

EDIT: Went through the whole list. I'd say he's in the right spot. Oh, and Goodell sucks.

Ben Drieth, wasn't on the list. That makes the list bogus. Prior to the "-gates", he was either #1 or #2, along with jack Tatum. Goodell clearly #1-Tatum gotta be #2- total scumbag-kensil,mangini, pollard, Ryan grigson- but Dreith HAS to be on the list after those guys.

Any list that isn't #1 Goodell, #2 Tyree is useless.

Ben dreith couldn't hold Goodells jock with respect to incompetence and an anti patriot agenda.
I understand you're perspective, but I guess mine is influenced by having been in Oakland at the game that afternoon.

Can't argue with 1 and 2. Might even flip them.

Where is Ben Dreith?

Parcells should be on this list for the way he bailed on the Patriots, the fact it was the Jest, took BB and staff with him and stole Curtis Martin

Shannon Sharpe should be on this list.

So should Bryan Cox even though I liked him better in 2001. :)

The Mannings shouldn't be on the list. Neither should Miller.

What Colonel Tavington didn't even make the list!? :)

This is an interesting dilemma when you phrase it as: If you could erase the ill-effects of one of these people, who would it be?

In no particular order, but the three I'd anguish over would be: Hernandez, Goodell or Pollard with a dishonorable mention to Mangini. Thats a tough one.

#1) Kraft
#2) Goodell

That's all it takes to irrevocably ruin the whole thing.

There has to be a better way to do this than "slide shows".. the most aggravating way to present a list.

As long as Tatum, Pollard, Goodell and Grigson are on the list the rest is all gravy..

Agree on Goodell, but Tyree isn't a villain as much just as a lucky nobody. The refs who didn't call blatant OL holding on that play deserve greater blame.

flying elvisers worship at the altar of St. Bill Parcells, but choose not to accept certain facts about him because he wasn't on the plane ride home from losing the Super Bowl in '97, even though that action was the seminal event leading to Belichick coaching the Patriots. Parcells vouched for Zeke Mowatt, whom he knew and coached for years, and he preferred Pat Patriot and our real uniforms, and flying elvisers do not like that.

Goodell isn't even in the same stratosphere as Tatum. He's a crooked and/or inept idiot who jerks off to himself in the mirror wearing a sheriff's badge but he didn't paralyze someone in the preseason and then never show any sadness on the other person's behalf and not give a **** about them until trying to make some bucks with a Maury-esque book tour or whatever.

I mean **** Goodell, but Tatum makes me wish Hell was real.

I don't see the opponents who cleanly beat the Pats as villains. On the whole, they were generally classy about it, or in Rex Ryan's case respectful and funny.

I totally agree w/ the Deflategate, Spygate and dirty-hit guys. Ditto Ahern.

I'd add more media members (e.g. Tomase) and bad-guy players (Zeke Mowatt was the big Lisa Olson offender, correct?). LDT rates at least a dishonorable mention. Cases can be made for Parcells and Adalius Thomas. The beach that did in Robert Edwards was a good call.

There is no doubt who the top 5 are.

Goodell
Kensil
Pash
Girardi
Wells

Those men have caused more damage than any player ever has.

Grigson, Polian, Harbaugh, Tomase, Mort, Kravitz round out the bench.
