Alan Millstein: Brady's chances of en banc hearing dramatically improved with latest amicus filings

You're a troll who does nothing here but insult Patriots fans and trash talk Tom Brady for opposing his suspension. You attacked me personally when I invited you to leave the conversation if you don't want to take part in it.

This forum is called PATS FANS - not Jets trolls.

Damn, you're on point. That post was up for like 10 seconds before I deleted it.

It went up by mistake. Was gonna post it, but decided not to. Then the site went down for a while. Guess when I went to reply to someone else, it had auto-saved previous stuff.

Well done.

But yeah, not trying to be a troll regardless of your thoughts on it. Cheers!

Of course you are. You think being passive aggressive makes it easier to fool people, but it doesn't.

Coming into a Patriots forum as a fan of another team to bad mouth Tom Brady's actions and his legal strategy is pretty much the textbook definition of trolling.

Well for someone who doesn't want to argue, you sure are disagreeing with an awful lot of my posts, troll.

I don't understand the decision you've made to decide to become an aggressive jerk towards Kevin Arnold.

I hate the NY Jets a lot, but I'm
also an adult, so I guess I'm at a loss. Your last few posts have the tone of someone trying to start a fight.

Because I don't like seeing a Jets troll coming into a Patriots forum telling Patriots fans what they should and shouldn't talk about, all while throwing in the occasional dig at Tom Brady. So I am speaking my mind.

"and then the Jet fan said "we have a long and storied histo....ba deep beep beep...we interrupt this episode of NITWITS ON CRACK to bring you this important message....leave the Meadowlands before THIS happens to YOU!"

Captain Jet rules! Cool guy too.

I want to be as optimistic as possible. En banc decisions set a stronger precedent than normal decisions, correct? So even judges who want to ultimately rule in the NFL's favor may vote to hear this case in order to settle the matter. Yes? Maybe?

Four games is ridiculous.

Not really. The current appeals court ruling will be the "law of the land" in CA2 if there is no en banc hearing (actually, as mentioned in this thread, it already is the law of the land in CA2). It doesn't become "stronger" within CA2 if it goes to en banc and gets the same ruling. I suppose an en banc hearing could give other judges the chance to add vernacular to the ruling they feel is appropriate, but I don't really see that as an incentive to hear a case all over.

Clearly the judges in CA2, who have granted en banc something like 8 out of 27,000 times, are not terribly concerned with hearing cases en banc just so they can issue the same ruling, slightly reworded. They aren't going to go through all that hassle just to wordsmith something they already agree with.

So, does Belichick have to consult a lawyer before deciding which quarterback gets the starters reps in training camp?

6-10? Yet Geno's rookie year we went 8-8 with a team not nearly as good. Makes sense.
You mean the same one that was 3-10 the last time he was a starter?
Geno smith is a terrible QB. But I hope you are right and the jets continue along their stories path.
Let Fitzpatrick walk for no reason. Go 5-11 with geno then turn the franchise over to sackenburg. Lose for 3 more years before realizing he sucks too. Then fire the coach and bring in someone with a completely different philosophy so you have to rebuild all over again. I think we e got 6-7 more years of futility all seen up.

OK, it's a valid opinion. Has been for over a year. Just as you don't care much about Geno/Fitz, I'm sure you realize most non-Pat fans don't care much about this court case.

I do because of fantasy implications.

All I'm saying is this has been a cr@p offseason dealing with these annoying issues. Waiting for any word on things and debating possible outcomes to death with endless speculation from the knowledgeable and not so knowledgeable.

I'm sure everyone (or mostly everyone) will be happy when this BS is over.

The Brady case isn't about football anymore it's about something far more important. When Brady was having his appeal Roger Goodell ignored the issues under appeal and created new grounds to sanction him that were not a part of the appeal being heard. Kenneth Feinberg, who is the top arbitrator in the country and who oversees both the 9/11 and BP arbitrations wrote the court an amicus brief informing the court that if they uphold Goodells actions that the abuse of arbitrator authority by imposing sanctions for issues that were not a part of the appeal will undermine all arbitration hearings going forward. Goodell is not an arbitrator, does not know what he's doing, and is both abusing and distorting the arbitration process in such a way as to nullify it and diminish it's usefulness. The decision needs to be overturned for the good of everyone, not just Brady.

Did you purposely choose to omit the word integrity, because that's all this is about... integrity. :p

Thanks. Do you know where that information is posted? I can't find it on the CA2 web page.
Thanks again.

It's based off of Sheilla dingus's analysis of recent CA2 cases. i hope this helps! according to her, there ahave been 21 en banc petitons filed since april 25 that CA2 is still deciding. it seems like this is a very conservative court procedure-wise, so they will likely issue their decision in order of receipt. brady filed his en banc appeal end of May, so probably we'll hear something late August. i don't think they will make a special exception for brady and the nfl.

Well, I guess it's a classic example of "Half Empty" or "Half Full."
Half Empty: They denied seven en banc petitions. :(
Half Full: One of them wasn't Brady's. :)
Actually, that was sort of the classic post by Wallach about all this.

Cycles through all these numbers and stats, cases heard and denied, blah blah blah. Then concludes: "Do any of these numbers actually mean anything?" The verdict: "Probably not."

Alrighty then!
