Hello Pats Fans!

We are two patriotsfans from Sweden that are going to our first Patriotsgame at the 18 september vs Dolphins.

We have some questions that we will be very happy if somebody could help us with.

* Transport to Gillette Stadium from Downtown Boston. We can find three solutions:
-Rent a Car = Not a good solution for us, a lot of work.
-Take the Patriots train = Arrive 30 minutes before the game. As this is our first visit and we come from far away we would really like some seightseeing and some tailgating so we want to arrive earlier.
-Rallybus.net = Bus that arrives at 10am (three hours before the game). This seems as the best solution for us but have any of you tried Rallybus? Cant find any reviews from Boston.
-Any other solution?

* Tailgating
Like I said we are two Patriots Fans from Sweden and we dont anybody in the US. Is it easy to find some people to tailgate with or are we going to tailgate all alone? :)

Would be very happy if anybody could help us :)

GO PATS!

If you want tailgating...then the train is out. The bus is an option but I really have no info on it as I drive and get there for when the lots open.

If you park next to someone who is tailgating as well..you always share some conversations or play some cornhole ect. Very friendly as everyone has some drinks in them. We always chat it up with the people next to us most games.

Car is probably the best option for the tailgating experience...but you would have to buy stuff to do that with like a grill ect. But like you said tough for you.

If you don't get a car there are tailgate party packages that you can buy tickets to and there are bars at patriots place where people pregame that you can go to.

Do not take the train. It is unreliable, I speak from experience. Never heard of rallybus. You might wish to reconsider renting a car, that way you have complete control. I suggest you rent a car and arrive when the parking lots open, around 9 a.m. You then can experience tailgating (if you arrange meeting up with other fans in advance) and Patriot Place at your leisure.

Where do u live in Sweden?
I was in Sockholm 2 years ago!
I'd agree with Tuna. Do not take the train. It's reliable transportation but you won't be able to tailgate. I'd rent a car n given it'll b the 1st home game it'll b doubly fun.
Will u b staying in Boston? I'm planning on going. Send me a PM

Thank you so much for your answers!

We will think about it and maybe rent a car.

If we take the bus it departs from Boston at 8.40AM and arrive at Gillette at 10AM.
Does that seems as a correct arrivetime? Is the traffic really bad as early as 10AM or should we be fine?

If we arrive at 10AM, is 2-2,5 hours enough for a good tailgate? :)

Once again, thank you!

PatsGuy, I send you a PM!

I've never taken the bus, but I think it would arrive after 10:00 because traffic is not good on game day. Also you want to go in the stadium early because the lines at the gates can get really long and you don't want to miss any of the game. So if you arrive after 10 and go into the stadium a little early, you won't have much time to tailgate. If I had to make a guess, you would end up having 1-1.5 hours to tailgate. If you rent a car, you could get here much earlier and have way more time to tailgate. If you took the bus, you wouldn't have to worry about the stress of driving. Just thinking about game days are getting me excited for the season! Hope you enjoy and have a good trip. Only 21 days until football starts again!!!

Prepare for a slight disappointment in your tailgating experience. Smoked fish & sardines are in short supply.

What about Uber to a drop-off on route 1 outside the stadium at 9:30AM?
Problem would be getting back, but maybe available 90 minutes post game when you would take Uber a short ride to the T station on Route 128 and take the T back into Boston.

I would Uber over to the stadium. It may cost some $, but it would avoid the nightmare traffic.

Another option is to spend the night at a hotel in foxboro. I know there is a $10 shuttle service that will pick you up and drop you at the game.

Thank you all for the answers!

We will think about it and book something good :)

We'll see you at the tailgate before the game, look out for the Swedes :)

GO PATS!

What about Uber? Or will they surge price out the wazoo on game days?

How did you manage to get tickets? Did you get good seats?

Surge will be up there..new roommates in southie all drive for them during AM and PM commutes..said game days will be like a PM commute ect.

We got the tickets from Stubhub, section 329 so not the best tickets but I think we will see Gronks arm from there :)

What do you think a cab/uber will cost single way from downtown Boston to Gillette?

Thinking about taking a cab to the game and the train at the way back, what to you guys think of that?

I think that is a fine idea if you can buy your ticket for the train in advance.

I checked on TaxiFareFinder - Estimate Your Taxi Cab Fare, Cost & Rates and the cost single way with a cab is about 100 dollars.
100 dollars + 30 dollars with the train is about 130 dollar for us two.
Do you think it would be cheaper going by Uber?

The Rallybus.net is 80 dollars a total.

To rent a car cost 80 dollars, then there is gas and parking. How much is the parking?

I think we are choosing between taxi+train or Rallybus. If Rallybus is correct we arrive at 10AM with them. We have to deside if it is worth 50 dollars extra to get there 1-2 hours earlier then that.

Rallybus depart from South Station 08.40AM. Is it likely that we arrive at 10AM considering traffic and so on?

The last solution is that we maybe have a nice patsfan here that can offer us a ride, we promise good stories and to learn some Swedish on the way ;)

Once again thank you! :)

This is your first and possibly only time. However you arrive, aim for no later than 10 a.m. From 9 a.m.-forward when the parking lots open, you will encounter significant traffic. I am a 25-year season ticket holder and have seen/done it all. This is what I would do if I were you: rent a car, plan to park in a private satellite lot about 1 mile walk from the stadium by 9:30 a.m. (this also will help you avoid getting stuck in traffic after the game). The private lot will cost you roughly $30-$40 cash; stadium lots are $40 and while closer, will be a much longer wait to leave. After parking at the private lot, forget about tailgating and walk to Patriot Place -- the stadium's adjoining business area full of shops and restaurants. If you arrive on foot at Patriot Place by around 10 a.m. you should find seating in a restaurant (I recommend a place like Bar Louie, which lets you stay as long as you want and you can kill time before the game eating, drinking beer and watching pregame coverage on TV. Other places like CBS Scene pressure you to leave after eating so they can bring in other customers.) You also can spend some time visiting shops and the Patriots pro shop.

Just remember that everything within about 1.5 miles of the stadium -- including the highway, parking lots and bars/restaurants/retail establishments -- gets VERY crowded and VERY slow-moving after 11 a.m. on game day. If you want a good experience, control as much as you can as early as you can. After the game you can go back to Patriot Place, hang out and enjoy the atmosphere for an hour or two without worrying about rushing to catch the train, etc., etc.

What the man said.

One thing you should know and bear in mind is that what you can bring into the stadium is VERY restricted (look on the site for exact details) and stringently enforced. If you have a car, you can leave stuff in it. You can't do that with a cab or the train.

Thank you so much for this!
We are going to check the possibility to rent a car.

Another solution I came to think of as to take a morning train from Boston South Station to the stop that is closest to Gillette Stadium and then take a walk. Which trainstop that you can go to on regular basis (not the Pats-train etc) is the closest to Gillette Stadium? We have no problem walking for like 30 minutes to get to the stadium. Would be great to know and then check googlemaps about the walk.

Forget the train! It is unreliable, and any other stops before Foxboro are too far to walk. Once I took the train to Gillette, it arrived late and I missed most of the first quarter. Another time I took the train, it arrived late, and I had to run to the stadium. NEVER AGAIN! Do yourself a favor and take guesswork out of it by renting a car and driving.

Another idea: stay in a hotel close to Foxboro and take a taxi to/from the game.
