Nice handful of jersey.

I think his name was Collins. Earlier in the game he got a way with a bear hug on Ronaldo which possibly prevented an earlier header.

Yes I saw that but he played good D overall.

He did. Absolutely. If not for a 5 minute breakdown defensively they would have had a good chance to win it.

Today i disagree with you.. I dont like this Germany team as i like France... Both of squads lack good CB/W
Both have solid defenders, but the Frech side has better and younger talent all over the field... Schweinsteiger, Gotze, Gomez and others are all way past their primes.

Neuer

Sagna
Hummels
Varane
Evra

Pogba
Matuidi
Payet
Muller

Griezman
Benzema

8 x 3 France IMO
LOL! Schweinsteiger (31), Gomez (30) and Goetze (24) past their primes but you have old man Evra in your 11? Varane is young and has potential but I'll take Boateng right now. I'd take Boateng over Hummels. Has played at a better and more consistent level than Hummels the last 2 years. Also I'll take Kroos over both Matuidi and and Payet.
Benzema is not part of the 2016 Euro team. If we're bringing injured players into the equation Gundogan and Reus would have been undisputed starters on this German team with the seasons they had up to when they got hurt. With a healthy Gundogan, Schweinsteiger becomes little more than a team mascot. Fullbacks and traditional Center Forward is what Germany has a shortage of. Everywhere else they have ridiculous depth.

First of all...

Schweinsteiger, Gotze are subs in their clubs ( not important ones) ... Gomez is a bellow avg striker.. Evra is in my 11 because both teams lack good CB/W. Reus and Ribery they could be in there if they could manage to stay healthy... Big if...

Neur x Lloris

Kimmich x Sagna

Boateng x Varane
Hummels x Koscilemy

Hector x Evra

Khedira x Kanté
Gundogan x Matuidi
Kroos x Pogba
Ozil x Ribery

Reus x Griezman
Muller x Benzema

Germany subs: Draxler, Gotze, Schweinsteiger, Gomez ( Cant see that ridiculous depth). Draxter humm meh. Gotze ( 1 UCL GS + 11 bundesliga GS and 4 goals), Schweinsteiger LOL, Gomez dont know where he plays
France: Payet, Martial, Giroud, Coman ...

France has played one good game. They have more talent on their team at the moment. But Giroud is a World Class ****sucker and therefore I hope France loses.

France is a good team, but they have not played anyone of note in Euro 2016 so far. They play one good game and all of a sudden they are world beaters.

Did you really just list Ribery? Why not Lahm too since we're going to go with retired players. Hell throw in Zizu and Platini while we're at it.
Yes, Schweinsteiger is past his prime now. Evra left his prime 4 years ago. Even with he lack of FBs in Germany I'm not sure I'd take Evra on my starting 11.
Also, what happened to the Great Payet on your starting line up? And are we talking about the same Kante that just made his first competitive start with France against Romania in this tournament? 3 competitive starts Kante?
Muller is a Right winger. Not a Center Forward like he would be in your Germany line up. But lets say that he is. That means that Kroos is playing CAM not DM. So comparing him with Pogba is cherry picking in order to fit your argument. If Khedira and Gundogan are playing DM. Ozil is at RW and Reus at LW. You can swap them if you'd like. They often do switch sides during games .

LOL... I know what Muller is i put him there because the comparison with Benzema would be less cruel ...

Let me say this in another way... Schweinsteiger was a fine player... Now he is ok. He is not too old, he is not injury prone, he is just not the same player he once was... The same goes Gotze... He had a glimpse in Dortmund and thats it. Gomez is a JAG.

Startingeleven.co.uk is our basis for determining which team is better now? What's next? EA's FIFA 2016 ratings?
France has lot of talent. A lot of it is still in the potential faze. it could get better but it could go the other way. See Goetze and Schurrle. Germany has talent and experience. In this game it will be experience and emotional maturity vs homefield advantage and potential. Pogba in particular has yet to mature on the emotional intelligence side. If you press and frustrate him early he can take himself out of the game and France is dead in the water. Whether Germany as presently constituted can do that or not is to be seen. 50-50 game if you ask me.
Goetze had a bad year with Bayer. Injuries didn't help his tenure at Bayern either. as soon as he'd get into form he'd get hurt and miss time. At a team like Bayern getting your playing minutes back after missing time to injury is very difficult as Roben and Ribery found out last season. I have no idea why Goetze turned down Liverpool. That would have been a great situation for him.
Draxler has a ton a talent and potential but suffers with consistency. Reus is world class but incredibly unfortunate when it comes to Germany. He didn't really have any injury issues going into the WC and was in terrific form. The last friendly before they broke camp and got on the plane for Brazil he broke his ankle. Came back from that injury and had a good season followed by a great one this last season. On the very last competitive match (the german Cup final) he got injured in the extra time of that game. I wouldn't say he is injury prone. Bastian and Sami are injury prone. Hell, you want to talk about injury prone. Badstuber can't go 5 consecutive matches without suffering an injury that sidelines him for 6+ months. That guy was so good and had such potential and injuries have made him an afterthought. Reus just has **** for luck.

do you guys really think a player-by-player comparison is going to determine the outcome of this game?

coaching is a big part and germany has a huge edge over france in that department.

Overall talent is relevant to a point. But the 2 teams are pretty evenly matched on that departament with Germany having more experience and maturity while France has more potential. IDK how good or bad a coach Deschamps is. But home field is a factor and the emotion derived from it can drive you to greater things than you can achieve otherwise but if not handled properly it can be the downfall. See Brazil-Germany 2 years ago. It remains to be seen what how emotionally and mentally stable France is.

The stars are all mine... I rated them...

Reus is good, but world class? What he achieved?
German player of the year, 2012?

Di Maria, Silva, Sanchez, Robben all better... Bale, Hazard, Neymar world class

Are you serious? First you make up your own make believe ratings and pass them as your part of the argument as to why France is so much more talented. Now you've come up with your own make believe system of deciding who "has achieved something". I think we're done here! Have fun!

Not sure what all the above is about but talent is nothing without application, and no-one applies themselves better than the Germans.

I might do a player by player comparison later however the ones above have a glaring omission - Antonio Rudiger would have started alongside Hummels had he not been injured before the tournament.

Anyway - never, ever write off the Germans.

Two brilliant saves from both keepers so far. Neuer who denies Griezmann, and now Lloris who has ust made a world class stop to deny Emre Can.

  • Agree
Reactions: PP2
A bit chaotic but looks like they're settling in now. Boateng reminds me of Revis. Blinding fast speed without losing balance or center of gravity.

Schweinsteiger has been imperious so far.
