with the 3rd pick in the NBA Draft...

He's way more athletic than Pierce.
this is just plain stupid...Paul Pierce is one of the greatest Celtics to every play the game. Danny Ainge screwed the whole ****ing draft and needs to go, plain and simple. We have waited for this draft because it was supposed to be the reason we stock piled picks. this draft is a complete and utter failure and Ainge is to blame. We gave him a pass for several years but it is over

It's hardly stupid. Pierce is one of the all time greats but he was never the most athletic guy on the court. Ever. As for the rest, it's fortunate you don't run the team. Some fans are just hopelessly spoiled.

Fans criticizing this draft have been totally unrealistic and perhaps bought into the hype of draft day rumors.
If a trade with the 76'ers was so feasible then why didn't the Timberwolves trade with them so they could get Dunn?
The 76'ers were blowing a lot of hot air.
Jimmy Butler was going nowhere unless a team wanted to give up every asset they had.
To take Dunn or Murray the Celtics would have needed a trade partner for Smart or Bradley - apparently there was nobody in the top 10 that wanted them.
I like the draft ... fans will like Brown and Zizic will play this year by the 2nd half and get 10-12 minutes a game.
The 2nd round picks of Jackson and Bentl were great ... they will be nice role players in a few years at manageable salaries.

There was no home run to be had ... and if Brown turns out to be rookie of the year I hope the naysayers have their crow ready to be eaten.

This draft is a D.

I hate the Jaylen Brown pick. He can't shoot (Danny drafting a suck-ass shooter? What a shock), he was absolutely putrid the last half-dozen games of the season (how bad is he going to be then during the last 2 dozen games of next season?),
he is an inefficient Black Hole (his assist/turnover was one of, if not the worst in college basketball), and he came off as a pompous ass during the interviews at the combine & individual workouts. If Brad Stevens couldn't get through to Rondo,
then he's not going to get through to this guy either, who unlike Rondo has no NBA-ready skills.
If Danny wasn't going to accept Philly's most generous offer of Noel (the rim-protecting, paint-defending 5 we most desperately need), Robert Covington, and #s 24 & 26, then he should've taken Jamal Murray, the best scorer in the draft.
God damn to hell forever the LA Fakers for purposefully losing (at least NJ was losing because they simply didn't have enough healthy players who were any good) so much that they stole Brandon Ingram from us.

I really hate the Gina Gershon Yabba-Dabba-Doo pick. His stats-accumulation on his lousy team in France is merely the result of being a big, fat fish in a small pond. He's purely draft-and-stash for now, if not forever.
Henry Ellenson was there for the taking, but once again Danny bypasses the best available big in favor of a far inferior talent.

I do like the Ante Zizic pick, however. He was Danny's best big-man option not named Deyonta Davis, and depending on free agency, trades etc, he could actually make this team now, especially because Danny didn't acquire ANY of Nerlens Noel,
Henry Ellenson or Deyonta Davis, or he could stay on his Euro team for another season before arriving, like Denver's Nikola Jokic.

I really, really hate the trading of #s 31 & 35 for an LA Clippers 2019 first-rounder. Danny could've had lottery-talent, rim-defending Deyonta Davis at 31, and 1st-team All-American, high-character, 3-and-D Malcolm Brogdan at 35.
The Clip Joint better be completely disintegrated by 2019 (which could be an actual possibility) in order for this trade to come close to working out.

I do really, really like the Demetrius Jackson & Ben Bentil picks, however. They were the Best Players Available, and by far in the case of Jackson, who will now give the Cs a genuine, legitimate Point Guard and makes at least one of Avery Bradley,
Marcus Smart and most especially Terry Rozier immediately superfluous.

But I absolutely despise the unathletic, unproductive Abdel Nader pick, who is not even a D-League-worthy player. There were way, way, way better players still available, too many to name here.
Danny basically threw this pick away as if it were poison, as if he never had it at all, as if he didn't even want to bother to try to find anybody with it. Embarrassing.

To use a baseball analogy (Danny was a Pro), asking the Celtics to hit On a huge trade would be like asking Papi to hit a home run when the pitcher is trying to intentionally walk him.
You just take what you can get and then pounce when an opportunity presents.

Yabasule is 6 8 270 with 6 percent body fat. That isn't fat. He hit 42 percent on 3s from the FIBA 3pt line, which is deeper than the NCAA line. I like him. He's a better, rock hard replacement for Sullinger.

I'm disappointed there wasn't more fireworks. but i don't blame danny ainge. the sixers offers that were reported in the media were complete garbage. patience is a virtue. as far as the players . talk to me in three years. if i was making the 1st rd pick i would have taken buddy hield.

Buddy Buckets is going to be quite a haul for the Pelicans. He and Anthony Davis should make a potent 1-2 scoring combo in a couple of years. As for the Celtics, at least they got a rim protector. They badly needed one.

In retrospect, I'm pretty pleased with this draft. I wouldn't be suprised if 5 of the 6 players drafted ultimately end up as contributors.

Henry Ellenson >>> Yabba-dabba-doo.

What rim protector? If you're referring to Zizic, has there been an indication that he's not returning to his Euro team?

Henry Ellenson >>> Yabba-dabba-doo.
Ellenson will be a JAG. Yabasule may be as well, but don't start on the 'Ellenson is the next star PF' train cause you'll be dead before you get out of the station.

Henry Ellenson >>> Yabba-dabba-doo.
So, just to prove you right, Yabasule turns in a 13 point, 8 rebound 2 block night. Way to call them Cap.

Olynyk looked good in summer league too.

Olynyk looked good in summer league too.
And according to most advanced analytics, he's a valuable member of the Cs rotation.. Their offense suffered markedly after he was hurt. He's never going to be a great defender or rebounder because of his short arms, but he had a higher FG% and 3pt % than Love last season. His plus/minus for the season was behind only IT on the Cs.
