There is no way the clowns named Kensil, Goodell and Vincent to name a few are going to cause me to leave the sport I love to follow......not a chance, in doing so, they win.

SCREW them........I can't wait until the day they get exposed for the lying cheating frauds that they are.........integrity Goodell?? Seriously???

I was here in 1960 and I'll be here long after those clowns are gone.

I was there with you in 1960 and I support your decision 100%.

Which games were rigged?

I can understand turning off football, everyone has the right to watch what they want and support what they want, but I haven't seen any evidence of game rigging, and if this league office were engaged in it everyone would know because the one thing we all know they are is incompetent.

Go ahead and turn it off but spare us the fan purity routine.

How many teams in the last decade have lost 1st round draft picks?

I get that but we still shouldn't have to hear their cries for another 10 years.

You think Brady is going to play for another 10 years? I don't.

The only time I can ever think that perhaps just maybe, maybe... the NFL tried to make things go their way was during the Steelers/Seahawks SB. The penalities were so lopsided and at the worst possible times for the Seahawks. You couldn't help but wonder if wasn't all planned ahead of time to let the fat ass Bus go out on a high note.
The one that gets me about the penalties that day ( and I have no dog in the fight) was a blocking below the waist on Hasselback after he threw the interception. The only problem was that they called it on him for trying to tackle the guy who intercepted the ball.....

These Calls Weren't for the Birds

What does that have to do with fixing games?

Is the league office corrupt? Yes.

Is the league office biased? Yes.

Is the league office run by clowns? Yes

Is the league office fixing games? No, at least imo, and even if they wanted to they are to inept to actually fix a game without getting caught.

As far as the Patriots go the league office is and has been out to get them for years and have screwed them repeatedly, including both "gates" where they made up infractions and gave them heavy penalties that have never before or since been handed down.

The league office is run by former Jets employees and needs to be fully douched and reordered so that no team can have that kind of influence over league affairs. They all need to go, no exceptions. All that said the topic was game fixing and while I absolutely believe the officials know who they are rooting for I don't believe they are actually fixing games, that's different transgression.

Two. The Patriots and the Patriots, and they got screwed over each time?

I agree about individual games.

This season, the Pats will be playing against teams that have an extra first round draft pick, for no reason other than the need to try and erode the advantage the Pats have due to their excellence. Every game the Pats play, the opposing team has that advantage.

Plus the advantage of knowing if their #1 QB will playing in the first four games, which is a significant opportunity cost for the Pats that the other teams don't have.

Every one of those teams could have acknowledged the unfairness of all this and protested. Every one of them could hold back their #1 QB and #1 draft pick from playing when they play the Pats. None of them will.

That is how the games will be "rigged" against the Pats this year. And the entire League is in on it.

No argument there, my only point was that I don't believe they are actually fixing games, everything else ... Guilty as charged.

Fix ? That gets a no from me. Knowing the "appropriate" calls would make your bosses happy without explicitly being told ? Not a doubt in the world for me.

Pretty much how I see it.

If the refs were out to get the Patriots (fix games), then Butler would have been called for DPI and the Seahawks would have been repeat champions.

Is the field tilted? Every fan base things the league/refs are biased against their team. Heck most fans think the pats get all the calls (which is opposite what I think, so objectivity is probably out the door for every fan).

That's in regards to the refs. The league office, well I think we all feel the same on that one.

I was never talking about games being fixed. The term you and I used is rigged, and you gave a classic example of it with this post.

rig: to manipulate fraudulently.

It absolutely boggles my mind that you have on one side the media (led by ESPN), the spoiled rich boys club, social media and defeated teams and fan bases and on the other you have reputable lawyers and scientists that refute the evidence and interpret this 4 game suspension for what it is....hot garbage, and yet still, the suspension is 4 games as it stands now....and millions and million of dollars already spent....all for a minuscule amount of air pressure lost during the cold weather. I mean when you break it all down isn't this what we are talking about here?

Just boggles the mind. Never underestimate the power of jealousy, it is just that powerful, powerful enough to take money away from inner city programs and Play60 and other causes that can make a difference and create wonderful memories and good health that would last a lifetime.

Shame on the decision makers of the NFL, who made it all about themselves...

It's 32 owners who have set this grotesque miscarriage of justice in motion and it will take them all to cease and detist. It will never happen simply because to them the monies spent are chump change and the seduction of unbridled power over their minions is an attraction that is beyond salivating. Brady is simply their raison d'être. I say all 32 because I count Kraft among his kind as well, as he has demonstrated, regardless of his latest protestations.

Well, with Tim Donaghy telling all after himself caught in a mob directed game fixing gambling scandal in the NBA, we now know that yes, mob or other gambling interests will indeed always have a motivation to "get" to referees, players, coaches etc.

But perhaps more important than gambling and mob ties are the extent that the Leagues themselves will go to maximize profits, advertising, and of course support "parity" as Goodell has been an open champion, seeking to create a league where anyone can win at any time.

The Laker/Kings series of 2002 is just one where the League itself was seeking to have refs extend a series to 7 games by calling non existent fouls and sending guys to the line in critical situations (or just to help them catch up)

We know that had been happening for years and can't assume it's stopped - nor that the NFL is immune

In fact, with Brady threatening the Parity of the League, even as the NFL owners seek their own shares of gambling revenues (and considers a Las Vegas franchise no less!) I'd say that the NFL owners and Goodell have an even higher incentive to fix games as we know has been done in the NBA

And when you see the lengths Goodell has gone to boldly fabricate a scandal to bench Brady, blatantly, openly, defiantely - with utter disregard to the fact that everyone KNOWS he's corrupt...

Well then yes - if you're not assuming that the NFL is fixed - at the VERY least to put a Dominant team at a disadvantage to restore "parity" then you are probably being pretty naive

This is a $40 billion entity - which is precisely why so few have called them on framing Brady

"Integrity" means keeping the cash flowing via parity - with the ends justifying the means

Except Butler's int was so out of the blue that the refs weren't prepared for anything like what happened and couldn't think fast enough to throw a flag. Once they knew what happened, it was way too late.

There's no disagreement at all over the corruption of the league office, the only thing I disagree with was game fixing.

Agreed

If only we were so lucky as to only be talking about them fixing a game or two in the NBA to extend a game series and profits (though the allegations of NBA game fixing go much deeper than that)

Suspending a team's best player - possibly the Leagues's best player - over a fabricated charge I'm sure we all can agree, isn't just fixing games (aside from those 4) - it's an attempt to fix the Season

I don't believe the games are "fixed" as in guaranteeing the outcome but I do believe they are "influenced" to make it more difficult for one team to win, depending on the "preferred" outcome. Doesn't ensure the outcome but officiating in certain games can be incredibly inconsistent and "timely" where one cannot help but think one team is "favored" to win.

Except Butler's int was so out of the blue that the refs weren't prepared for anything like what happened and couldn't think fast enough to throw a flag. Once they knew what happened, it was way too late.

Although we have seem some blatantly wrong calls that suggest, indeed the NFL does fix games, I don't think they can usually be quite that blatant on a play that develops, and instead would tend to call a lot of lopsided penalties over the course of a game (also another reason why the NFL doesn't WANT to do what Belichick suggests and make every play reviewable)

Even in the NBA where we now know the games were, have been, and likely are being fixed, that's done most often through foul calls

While that can influence a game, the refs can't give the other team free throw points they miss - they can just try to put them on the line more

i.e. even in Fixed games the refs can't guarantee the outcome
