Beaten both of them when it matters in recent tournaments.....
You mean beaten by them when it matters in recent tournaments. Germany has never beaten Italy in a tournament.
WC'06 lost to Italy in semis.
Euro'08 lost to Spain in final.
WC'10 lost to Spain in semis.
Euro'12 lost to Italy in semis.
WC'14 did't play either. Won WC.

Spain lost to croatia
And Italy lost to Ireland.
Croatia has a lot of talent. And I think they caught Spain napping and and a bit complacent.
Spain-Italy should be a good match up but a very dull game to watch. Spain passes the ball around as if they're playing hot potato with a live grenade. Italy can defend. They are masters at it. Not sure they have the talent to take advantage of counterattacking opportunities. Especially without Pirlos long, precise, passes.
Also Italy has most of their starting lineup at risk of being disqualified in the next round if they pick up any yellows (which is very likely based on how they play). Barzagli, Bonucci, Buffon, Chiellini, De Rossi, Éder, Insigne, Thiago Motta, Sirigu and Zaza all have one yellow card. Their entire starting back line and the keeper are at risk. 3 games played and 2 different keepers have picked up a yellow each. That has to be some sort of a record.

España playing like crap.

More like they have nothing left in the tank after winning the last two cups.

Looks like it's drama vs. efficiency this Saturday.

0-0 through 85', then Italy will counter....for a 1-0... Germany will have 60-40 possession and Özil will squander at least 2 chances

tremendous game by italy. very unlike their style but played thrilling today and their 3 backs are terrific in defense.
