MassLive: "Aaron Dobson tore up mini-camp..."

Dobson has ideal size and speed. You cannot teach that. Those would be the reason Dobson makes the roster.

I think Dobson is going to have to hope that one of our top four receivers get hurt during preseason in order to make the team.

Right now the locks would seem to be:

-Edleman
-Hogan
-Amendola
-Mitchell

Dobson is going to have to beat out:

- Keshawn Martin
- NateWashington
- Chris Harper
- Devin Lucien

From what we've seen from Dobson, that is going to be a big challenge. Also, I thought Martin played pretty well last year and was durable. Going to be an interesting camp WR battle.

My concern is that Edelman and Amendola are both 30+ now, and have sustained injuries in recent years. For right now they're better (or at least more proven) receivers than Dobson, but I'd love to see a youth movement emerge. It's too bad that rosters can't be 60 players, because there aren't many positions this year where we will be short on depth. Long term, I'd love to see Dobson establish himself, along with Mitchell, Martin, and Lucien.

. . . I guess I can forgive Harper if he shows some skills. :p

I'm interested to see if Edelman and/or Amendola start on the PUP list. That would give Dobson a chance of sticking around and we would probably keep Washington and Martin too.

He won't make the team.

I believe in AD. I'm pulling for him. He can be a huge asset on the perimeter. I'm sure he knows it's now or never...

If ONE of Edelman or Amendola started on the PUP list, I would expect both Martin and Washington to make the team, with the alternative being Lucien as the always inactive 5th receiver.

I don't see Washington making the team unless one of the veteran receivers is in the pup or IR with a designation to return. He seems like a candidate to be one of those vets who are unsigned week 1 to prevent the salary from being guaranteed. Martin is O.K. But whether it is he or Dobson who is the 5th receiver really doesn't matter. I just want the 2TEs to be healthy:)

Love your sense of humor, man. You're a quality poster with lots of good insight and you constantly succeed in cracking me up. Good stuff.

I'm thinking that a battle of Martin vs. Washington will occur, with Harper and Lucien being quality PS candidates. It's possible that we may end up with more names on this list than most of us are expecting.

More players on what list? We always fill the PS list.

?
The list in her quote.
You can see it in the above post pretty clearly.

no problem
I didn't think that you were referring to Ashley's list.

Are you guessing that more than 5 WR's will be on the 53 because we choose to carry an injured Edelman or Amendola on the 53?

Clearly, Dobson is candidate for temporary position if Washington does't work out.

IMHO, unless both Amendola and Edelman are close to 100%, Martin is a lock for the 53. he did fine last year.

I could see Hogan, Mitchell and Martin getting almost all the WR reps for the first couple of games.

I just think that out of her list, we could potentially see all but maybe 2 of those WRs when you factor in the practice squad. That was really my only point. I could certainly envision a scenario where both Harper and Lucien make the team on the PS.

The main battle, in my opinion, will be Martin vs. Washington, although that's assuming good health for the rest of our options. I would agree with you that Martin has the upper hand due to versatility and prior knowledge of our system.
