Spitballs, biggest surprise contributor, surprise cut

Ok so for contributor the player has to be a RFA, under the radar FA or 1st year player coming off IR. Let's set Rufus Johnson as the boundary. Even though he was on the team for a number of games before going IR, he was on the inactive list for most of those games. Lewis and Butler would have won this the last two years.

For surprise cut it could either be an established player (and no you can not pick Easely), a new high bonus signing or a 4th round pick and above this year. It is okay to name a player to be traded, but it must be a cornerstone player like Seymour or Mankins.

Surprise contributor: really no idea...I feel like our roles are pretty set. Maybe Rufus Johnson/Trey Flowers or...and I really don't want this to happen...Donald Brown.

Surprise cut: Chris Long, although I don't think it'll happen. I just think some of us drastically overrate him. He will not be a plus starter.

OK, if this is going to be a SURPRISE (not a binky coming good or the Patriots finally listening to this board about Marcus Cannon) then my surprise cut will be someone on the O-line, let's say, Bryan Stork.

And a surprise contributor will be a WR -- what about Chris Harper? [ducks]

Jonothan Cooper Surprise cut

AJ Derby Surprise contributor - an embarrassment of riches at the TE position.

Surprise contributor? RB Donald Brown gains over 1,000 yards

Surprise cut? Marcus Cannon

Stork part of a trade package.

With Andrews looking decent last season......it would be nice to get draft pick for Stork if he's on the bubble........I can't see it tho unless his concussions are causing problems...then you're looking at a sack of beans for him.. :D

This thread should be merged with mine ... it's theft of idea.

If Thuney looks viable at C, then I'm with the Stork (or Andrews) cut/trade group.

Surprise? In the unnoticed category I'll go with Cooper - more visible? I'll go with Dobson, after a few years of injuries, now his competition for snaps seems to be hurt. Not that Edelman and Danny are out but they're getting older and coming off injuries which is often a bad combination.

My surprise keeper is Tom Brady, even though the team looks unimpressive in, say, the first 4 games of the season :)

I posted that originally, but then reconsidered. I think that wouldn't be a surprise at this point.

Apologies there, I missed your thread as I am not a daily visitor.

Of course folks can write whatever they want, but trading Stork is not what I am thinking about in terms of a surprise, now if you are saying cut Stork then that would be a surprise as most would pencil on the team at this point just as we would have Easley before we learned more about him.

For a contributor I am going with Tyler Gaffney. I think the scat backs will see more playing time, but the opening seems to be there for a lead back. My second choice would be the rookie free agent Jones at cb. We were very lucky last year not to loose more time to injury at the position and there could be an opportunity there.

I will go with the mirror for the surprising cut with Blount. I have liked him as a player, but he seems to be a bit of a bonehead at times and Bill has little tolerance for boneheads. Not sure if it is as much of a surprise, but I could see Tre Jackson being cut due to injury issues and there being better alternatives on the team.

I don't understand why people are rooting against Donald Brown.

I don't understand why people are rooting against Donald Brown.

If he turns out to be good, I'm more than happy. But as it stands now, he's one of the better-known quantities on this roster and that quantity does not amount to much at all. Unfortunately, with Blount's injury and Lewis's history, Brown might not even need to be more than slightly-worse-than-mediocre to get significant snaps.

I think Donald Bown will be a surprise contributor both running and catching.
I have Blount as being a surprise cut although I don't view that scenario as a surprise but I will just play along.

Surprise contributor: DJ Foster

I will say this "IF" D.J. Foster looks anything like Dion Lewis in the running department its going to be scarry. Foster is already a Excellent receiver jack of all trades type player.
