Alan Millstein: Brady's chances of en banc hearing dramatically improved with latest amicus filings

The MLBPA, arguably the strongest union in all of the United States, did just that with regards to domestic violence. The stupidity of Americans never fails to impress.

There are Americans playing MLB? ;)

I have not followed this case that much since football season ended and just saw on Twitter (not from a reliable source) that Brady is trying to have this taken to the Supreme Court right now. Is that true? I've looked it up and I can only find speculation pieces on if he will take it to the Supreme Court or not, not sure if there's any recent update I have missed.

No need to take it to the Supreme Court if you can get CA2 to hear en banc, only if that's refused or he loses in a hearing would it then go to the Supreme court. The SC doesn't take many cases so hopefully he gets en banc.

How Tom Brady is gearing up for the Supreme Court

Actually, disgraced lawyer Lester Munson did a pretty good job with that article. It's a comprehensive, intelligent even-handed look at the case (unlike everything else that brown-nosing Goodell whore has previously written). He must have gotten a couple of pretty good law clerks to write it. I know many on this board refuse to give ESPN the clicks but the article is actually worth your time.

Look at it this way: the fact that he's hedging his bets means that he's getting a little nervous.
Good read or not. It's Lester Munson, ESPN and I have to go with granny on this one.

Starting to worry that the court hasn't asked the NFL for a response.

if it isn't done by the end of the week i would start to worry a little.

Yet, no one has reported it this way.......everything I hear is that he is gone, unless en banc hearing is granted.
You have it backwards. It isn't that he is gone unless en banc is granted. It is that he is playing unless en banc is denied.

If CA2 takes 10 months just to rule on whether or not Brady goes en banc, then Brady plays during that time period.

What about the stupid Peterson case...how has there not been a ruling on that yet...

Not true. He gets a stay (and gets to play) only if en banc is granted.

Not correct. Filing the request for en banc review automatically stayed the panel order reinstating the suspension. That stay remains in effect until 7 days after CA2 decides whether or not to grant en banc review. However, if they do grant en banc review that automatically vacates the panel decision and the panel order, so there would be no need for a stay while the en banc process runs.

It is my understanding that it is currently stayed while they decide whether to grant en banc

Don't think so. Technically now the suspension is in place unless the appeal is accepted. Though it doesn't mean much. You'd have to figure a decision comes before camp.

What I've been trying to figure out as someone deciding whether or not to keep Edelman in Fantasy is if things will be decided in time for Sept.

Most figured we'd have a ruling by July. If the court was going to grant the appeal, most also thought they'd ask for the NFLs response a week or two prior to the decision.

Then even if denied, there's the whole nuclear option. Whether Brady would take it to the SC and how long it'd take to hear about that.

Still bunch of options and confusing time line. Clock does seem to be running out though on this current appeal option.

Edelman is probably higher on peoples' radar than Hogan and will probably miss a number of games. You could probably snag Hogan in a later round, and IMO, there's a good chance he has a break out year. It's almost like he was designed to play with Tom Brady.

Definitely think Hogan will be good this season. Especially if Edelman gets banged up a bit, which is likely given he plays balls-out every down.

But I have the option of using a 5th round keeper on Edelman, not Hogan. When playing healthy with Brady, Edelman is a top 10 PPR WR option. Dude is nasty! (Also kinda reminds me of Chrebet, so I like the guy too.)

Last I heard, he's still in a boot after a second surgery.

Cool! Good I want to be wrong. I want Brady playing! Where am I wrong? Will this be determined by early-August (by the time I have to submit keepers)?
