The pens were the better team....they deserved to win. To me, NHL is 1a and NFL is 1b....two great sports, when you watch the playoffs, the intensity they play with, the speed, the physicality, the skill. When you get a good team together that buys into the team philosophy, its just great to watch....

That was a great game and it's sad to see hockey over for another six months.
I feel like the Bruins are going to go through some really tough years before they can ever return to contention.
I was really hoping to see Bergeron win one more. We all love Tom Brady, but Patrice Bergeron is probably the one guy I admire more than any other Boston sportsman.

Hockey over..no football for a while...jumping off a cliff now

Best team won this year, everything started to click for Pittsburgh in the second half of the season and they never looked back. I sort of feel bad for Tampa, two years in a row you lose to the Cup champs. Now to the offseason. Hopefully it's productive for the Sens and Guy Boucher can have us make some noise in the division next year.

No, Washington didn't win.

If they were better they would have defeated Pittsburgh. The regular season + playoffs are a marathon, not a sprint. Washington had the better form during the first half of the season but the Pens were better from February-March onward. Presidents trophy ain't no premier league trophy ;)

That's a terrible argument. In the U.S. big for professional sports, only the NBA is almost bereft of upsets. In baseball, football and hockey, the best teams often fail to win the title.

Pittsburgh beating Washington wasn't an upset if you actually paid attention during the second half of the regular season and weren't merely checking the standings every couple weeks. Believe it or not, but form actually matters in sports. Who would have thought.

Your argument was ludicrous, and you made it on a Patriots board, where we'll always have the disaster of 2007 to serve as a perfect example of just how ludicrous your argument was. There's no need to try doubling down on it.

The fact that you are trying to compare this Penguins team beating this Washington team to Super Bowl 42 shows how truly out of depth you are. This wasn't David Volek sticking a dagger into the 93 Penguins. Stick to football Donny, you're out of your element.

I'm not comparing teams. I'm noting the idiocy of making the claim "If they were better they would have defeated Pittsburgh." on a Patriots board board, when a much lesser Giants team defeated what was, arguably, the greatest team in NFL history, the 2007 Patriots, in the Super Bowl.

As I said, there's no need for you to try doubling down. First rule of holes, and all that...

If I was saying "if x team was better than x team they would have defeated them" as a generality you may have a point. But I wasn't. I was saying this in the particular case of Washington vs. Pittsburgh this year where it was actually applicable.

No, it wasn't. It's the same argument. You're just focusing on an earlier point in the playoffs.

Agree they have little room to make major changes ...
They could make a major one by trading Rask - I would - but I doubt they even attempt it.
