Moments after an unbelievable save from the Romanian keeper, Giroud puts the hosts 1-0 up.

Definitely will be a great one to watch.

Obviously Portugal will be the favorites to finish first in Group F, but what do you think of Iceland's chances to survive their group? They're also in there with Austria and Hungary.

Some of the countries that have qualified have surprised me, more so than some of those who haven't.

I don't know much about Iceland nowadays, bar the fact that Gudjohnsen is still playing, but I'd expect Austria to be the ones to challenge Portugal in that group.

Now's the time for Martial or Coman. Or maybe both. Romania need to start taking some risks.

Penalty to Romania! Looks a good decision too.

Yep, awful from Evra, who has been dreadful so far.

1-1! Bogdan Stancu sends Lloris the wrong way.

Coman on for Griezmann. Another budding young French superstar.

Just to point out - Kingsley Coman has won the French, German and Spanish league title so far in his career.

He's 19.

Martial now on - for Pogba.

If you were going to take one of the central players off surely it would have been Matuidi who looks shattered.

Who had betters odds to win…..Joe and Jake at EuroVision or the Three Lions at Euro 2016?

Has the hooligans travel squad arrived on the the continent yet?

Rooney as captain has to be a ceremonial honor, right? They're not really gonna play the old guy, are they?

World class goal from the man of the match, Dimitri Payet. Breathtaking.

Full time and the hosts take the win thanks to a special goal from a special player.

Defence looked very very vulnerable though....

Just filled out my Euro pool. Got England to win. They gotta do it one of these years, right?

England had a new champion crowned just 6 days ago.

And he was a much bigger underdog than England is to win the Euro cup. So anything is possible.

Where's the best place to go to get head's up about this stuff? I seriously had/have no idea what is going on in the world of futbol but I looooove the big multinational tournaments. But it always seems like I find out about this **** while it's going on cause I don't follow the sport very much.

What a goal from Payet to end it...had a great season at West Ham (12 goals, 12 assists). The talent that France has upfront is unbelievable even without Benzema and Ribery. They have a real Chance to win it all if their defense keep it together. Anyway it will be really hard for my Swiss team to get even a point against them. But first they have to win aganst Albania tomorrow morning. Go Switzerland!

The BBC is the BBC -- not exciting, but impartial and comprehensive, though obviously focused on the Euros rather than the Copa America:

Football - BBC Sport

Of the freely available UK newspapers, the Telegraph is probably best:

Euro 2016

Since various networks have a stake in different tournaments, I'm not sure about the best U.S. coverage, but Fox Sports has historically had a close interest in soccer:

Maybe change the title to Euro and America cup? I will try to watch both.

Remember the days when Brazil used to be feared in soccer? Those were the good, ol' days i tell ya

I love Europe.
