he question is whether a kid with a cornerback build (5'10" 193) who played WR his senior year can be an NFL RB.

Dion Lewis is 5'8" 195, so not all that different. Maybe Foster can bulk-up some into the 200 area but agreed he's never going to be a between-the-tackles runner.

You are comparing Edelman and D Bryant, different kind of players. White is fighting against Foster, Lewis...

Well you can make the comparison that way if you want but i am assuming Blount is going to be bad so instead of Edelman/Bryant maybe Edelman/Lafell(of last year?

Like would you rather have Lafell or cut him and carry Hogan/Amendola who are more slot oriented players but better overall?

Foster looks very quick.

I wouldn't be surprised if Blount is the guy who gets cut.

That would depend on how well he has recovered from his injury combined with a bigger guy, relatively, like Brown showing well.

I still wish they drafted a 3-down RB for crissakes. Not necessarly as a bellcow RB but one that is also a very good option in the passing game.

Maybe the can squeeze a decent year out of Arian Foster.

don't we need a 2-down RB? Isn't lewis for 3rd downs?

I'm counting Blount as a 1st/2nd down RB. Teams ignore him as a threat in the passing game.

With all the passing in today's game maybe in today's NFL Lewis is a 3 down RB but the issue is hes small in stature and I don't think the team wants to see him go over 100 carries in a year as he will see close to 100 balls thrown at him.

Thats where even if he isn't what he was, Arian Foster is a threat to run and catch any down.

Foster is a player I think we will need to keep an eye on this spring. Hearing good things about him already.

3 of the last 4 SB winning teams won via the running game (included in this is passes to the RB1, a la Ray Rice, rather than a specialized back system) combined with defense, with passing being essentially situationally limited:

Denver
Seattle
Baltimore

New England has been the exception.

Klamp Klampington with a INT is exciting. I got a good feeling about him.

Well the way Blount played last year and the way White played last year I don't see how we can keep Blount over White if Foster forces his way on if it comes to that.

I would be perfectly fine with Lewis, White, Foster, Bolden, Develin if that is what they want to do. A small RB backfield does not mean bad.

how did blount play last year and were the negatives his fault? the OL did have its share of problems and he still averaged 4.3ypc

I think Foster is facing an uphill battle at that size unless he proves he can take a beating and can at least look like he's going to be effective in picking up a blitz

@PhilAPerry
Tom Brady found TE Michael Williams in the back of the end zone for an athletic grab in tight coverage. Had an offseason to train at TE.

If he can add any receiving ability to his blocking game then he'd be a pleasant surprise this summer as a 3rd TE.

The good players tend to flash right away. I get the bringing them along slowly and developing guys but if someone is going to be a good player they almost always show some kind of ability pretty early do to so.
