This roster has a lot of young players and some high- upside guys, so the final 53-Man Roster will be very difficult to project. I'll look at the Interior OL today and try to take a stab at which players will stick. I think NE will probably carry 5-6 Interior OL players, and I think the following players will stick:

Mason (Starting LG)
Cooper (Starting RG)
Stork (Starting C)
Thuney (Primary Backup G/C)
Kline (Backup G)

PUP Tre Jackson

PS: Karras

Traded for a 6th: Andrews

What do you all think?

Holy ****, an actual football post! I had to respond- didn't seem right for your post to go unanswered when its the only football post on the board . I dont really have anything to add- just didn't want to see "0 replies" on hour post. I do agree with the starters you have. The OL could well be a strength this year. If so, this offense will be a spectacle.

Nice job bringing up an actual football conversation, as @jimnance pointed out.

I do not feel as though a 6th round draft pick is anywhere near realistic for David Andrews. If he doesn't make the team he will be an outright cut. No one is giving up anything for a player of his caliber/reputation. While he was a pleasant surprise for us last season, he's certainly no different than other guys like Nick McDonald, etc, who proved to hold it down but eventually moved on.

I really hope Kline is beat out. He is a horrible run blocker. There is just no power with him.

I see things a bit differently. I think Kline is better in the run game vs. the pass game, which was highlighted down the stretch run of 2013, particularly on the road at Baltimore.

I can certainly appreciate wanting him to be beaten out though, as he is "just a guy." That said, we were all impressed by his very strong first 8-10 games last year until he suffered his injury, and he does provide some versatility and experience.

Nothing wrong with the O.P., but among the many other "actual football" posts on the first page (FredfromDartmouth has a bunch of player specific 'tape' threads, for example), is this already existent thread about the OL:

If the competitors are healthy, BB has done his job with the draft, Scar's comments about Thuney being an IOL remain in force, and Cooper doesn't suck, Kline would seem a prime candidate to be moving on.

Mason
Jackson
Thuney
Cooper

Stork
Andrews (Unless either Mason or Thuney shows himself ready for the backup C role)

That's 6 for the interior right there.

Karras
Kline
Barker

would seem to be on the outside, looking in, in such a scenario.

Due to his reported nastiness, I want Karras to stick. I've also read/seen Thuney play like he's chewing on glass. I want as many of those smack you in your face if you try to be cute Hogs on our line.

I never want to see a player try to rub his nuts on our QBs face after an embarrassingly easy sack and be laughing about after the game in public. God , I miss Mankins so much sometimes.
