Brady #5 on a list of 40 most hated NFL players of all time

Why do people hate Bryan Cox?? He was the heart and soul of the 2001 team. For me, his hit on Jerome Pathon marks the exact moment when the Patriots became relevant again.
i actually got a Bryan Cox jersey that year, somewhat accidentally, but I was still a fan. That hit on Pathon was vicious.

This is the worse of the worse part of the offseason.. bored scribes think up stupid **** to post as fodder for bored fans on discussion boards..

Ignore it.. but this will somehow become fact and repeated again..

No, most people realize the insanely low chance of a court even hearing a defamation suit in this case, let alone the obvious hurdles he'd have to overcome in attempting to prove obvious malicious intent, etc, if they did agree to hear it.
Wait, some guy writing an article saying he hates Brady doesn't prove defamation, malicious intent and give him a guaranteed win?

It's funny, when I read the list of the older players you list from the 50s, 60s, 70s, I didn't hate them at all.

I wanted MY TEAM to have MORE players like that.

I think that is the difference between the younger generation (Millennials) of today and older fans. When I was a kid, I used to sit there in awe of the 49ers and dream about the Pats one day being like that, pretty much knowing it's a pipe dream.

Well, it's happened, and the Pats have surpassed the accomplishments of the 49ers.

It's just amazing that it's happened, but I never resented other teams great players who were tough, mean and hardworking.

The 49ers for whatever reason were the exception to the rule but people hated Landry's Cowboys as an example as much as the Patriots. A Raiders fan might argue Rozelle screwed with Davis as much as Goodell has Kraft. I would say the biggest difference is the way the league writes the media narrative now through economic ramifications and at the behest of the owners and their jealousy hand down ridiculous sanctions.

While I agree Rozelle messed with Davis, I don't think it's anywhere near the degree what we're saying here with Goodell colluding with other AFC teams to cheat our team.

The biggest argument would be banning Stick Um after the 1980 season I think it was and Rozelle not liking the idea Davis wanted to bolt for LA.

That's stuff is very minor compared to outright misrepresenting something like a Jets/Pats feud or lying about what Brady didn't even do to curb the Pats success and promote more parity.

Agreed overall, though.

Rozelle or Tagliabue would have had a conference call with Spygate and just told each side to knock it off or the hammer will come down. Airing out internal feuds is bad for business and it nothing would have ever been known.

Goodell went along with what Woody Johnson wanted, allowed the media to frame a lie/misrepresentation, and did that to appease other owners to curry favor.

There will always be childish/petty inter-organizational style feuds in sports leagues. It's natural for the competitive spirit alone, but what Goodell has done, is not only despicable, but it's really illegal.

Goodell is supposed to be a mediator of sorts, with a hands off, sort of walk softly carry a big stick type of a leader, but he's done the opposite. He's shown no consistency and alters his logic with punishments, based on who the team is and what he thinks the perception will be.

Any leader that does that, is a bad leader. It never works. Good leaders can't always have their cake and eat it too, but that's what that turd does because he's a silver spooned loser who has always been used to getting his way.

That's like George Patton adjusting what he thought he needed to look like as a general to keep his job or something. But, if he did that, I am not sure we win WW2.

It's not called the silly season for nothing. In the NFL, I prefer to think of it as the incredibly stupid media season.

Is it just me or does anyone else find backwards counting clickbait "slideshow" lists like this really annoying? Bleacher Report does it all the time and they even tag the list with teams that aren't on it just to get you to click.

Not that different than the old pay per call hotlines where they started the call with irrelevant information and get to the good stuff later when you've already been charged a lot of money.

Apparently dog-fighting is the worst that any NFL play has ever done to tarnish his reputation.

Correct. It's worse than murder, spousal abuse, etc., etc. I like dogs, but Vick's transgressions, although despicable and ugly, don't rise to the level of murdering humans and beating women. I actually heard someone on Comcast say when Vick's situation came to light that he deserved the death penalty. I wish we had the same emotion for neglected and abused children. In the interest of full disclosure, I do volunteer work for the Mass. Dept. of Children and Families so my take might be colored somewhat.

From what I understand they excluded murders from the list.

Hate can be irrational.

He's listed with women-beaters, repeat/violent offenders, locker room cancers, sociopaths, people with substance problems, people that exercise poor off-field judgement.

All because of an alleged equipment violation.

I've given it some thought before. It would drive me mad to consistently lose to a guy that can't run or consistently throw it deep, all without a consistent running game. Brady also gets rid of the ball in under two seconds. To opposing fans, that means their corners suck so bad that they can't even cover for two seconds. Lastly, Brady is a nice guy so it even more frustrating to root against the guy and I can envision all of this turning into a deep hate for opposing fans.
