Kevin Faulk: Newest Member of Pats Hall of Fame

Good list. Ted Johnson had a tough career though - he could have been been an NFL hall of gamer if he played in The 60's or 70's. He was a stud battering ram middle linebacker, but he looked absolutely lost in pass coverage throughout his career. He became a situational player with Belichick due to this lack of versatility. I don't think he makes the cut in the pantheon of great NE linebackers.

His hit on Jamie Nails that split the helmet is NFL Hall of Fame worthy. Just stuffing the o line so someone else could make the play.

Problem with more than one a year is you don't want to water it down too much but there also is clearly an issue where pre-dynasty guys are getting over looked.
I think Kraft should set up a group to consider any and all pre dynasty players and let the remaining few they deem worthy in now with one fell swoop. Just recognize that the Dynasty guys deservedly so will be dominating the process for years if not decades and don't make the pre-dynasty guys wait forever.

What I find remarkable about that generation of Patriots is how they appear to still love the Patriots and more specifically Tom Brady. It's a real brotherhood.

Congrats to Faulk.

They want the buzz and the controversy. I can think of 10 players who are just as deserving as Faulk who should be in NOW.

Vrabel
Ray Clay
Ted Johnson
Tony Collins
Leon Gray
Roland James
Fred Marion
Pete Brock
Seymour
Tommy Addison

What about Harrison? Milloy?

All Faulks are not the same..

Some Faulks are better than others.. Our Faulk is the best.

Congrats Kevin, you overcame some early fumbleitis to become a very reliable ball handler..

YUP. And that pass catching ability! Wow. He made some tough catches, and I frankly don't remember a RB that made tougher catches than he did (especially on 4th and 2 *cough*).

How about we recruit one of our grammatically gifted posters to draft a letter to the FO to temporarily change the process.

@Ian- can you make this happen?

I wouldn't say I'm "grammatically gifted", but here's a draft you could consider (written at Logan at 6 am).

Dear Mr Kraft

As fans of the New England Patriots, we deeply appreciate the success that the Patriots have had since 2000. This extraordinary success has had a consequence, however, to which we want to draw your attention.

Entry to the Patriots Hall of Fame is finally determined by fan voting. We are now coming to a time when players from the modern era are becoming eligible for inclusion. There are many who have contributed to that amazing run and we are very happy to see them honored. Nevertheless, older fans know that, even when the Patriots were less successful, they had players who played with great skill and heart.

As those memories fade, we fear that a system of fan voting will in practice exclude players from that earlier era. We ask that you and the Hall of Fame Committee consider ways to ensure that such players receive the recognition they deserve.

Signed

I agree. I know Johnson is a borderline candidate. My rationale was that he spent his entire career with the team which was 125 games over 10 years and was a solid contributor on four Superbowl teams. I think that weighs heavily when considering his candidacy.

With that said I understand becoming a role player and missing a lot of games due to injury are major strikes against him.

Johnson does a sports radio show in Houston and is about the most anti-Patriot host I have ever heard. If I was Kraft, I would never allow him to step foot in Foxborough again.

Simple, to the point and well written. Nicely done.

Can I or anyone use this?

I know he has an axe to grind with BB over forcing him to play with a concussion (which I get) but didn't know he was anti-Patriots. Oh well. Keep him out then...

I would have had Kevin as my third choice this year, but after the draft, I voted for him anyway.

He deserves to go in, but it had to be this year if only to say FU to the commissioner.

Much as I love Faulk I have to admit that I was originally going to vote for Clayborn but " THE NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS AND TOM MOTHER****IN'BRADY SELECT John Thuney linebacker North Carolina State University
Changed my vote. So who cares if he's an OL, it just shows Kevin was focused on the true task at hand, giving the league its just FU.

I still appreciate Clayborn hell just have to wait another year.

I was very glad to hear of this yesterday. He is very deserving. But as great as he was on the field, he is an even better man off the field. He is very giving and always attends any charitable event that he receives a request for. He never turns anybody down.We are lucky to have him back in our community. I also think he is enjoying himself coaching at his old high school. Well deserved honor.

I think that, if Ian is agreeable, we should put together some kind of Patsfans petition. Needs thought about how best to do that, but perhaps he'd like to make a sticky and have people add their names or something. I'll give this a bit more thought, but today is a travel day -- greetings from London!

Exactly. I wouldn't want it to turn into something cheesey.

Say hi to Big Ben will ya. :)

Oh and have a pint of Foster's for me. Good stuff. Used have one with a shot of woodpecker cider in it. Yes Sah. IIRC they called is a snakebite.

So apparently douchebag felger said Faulk shouldn't be in the Pats HOF and that Curtis "only played 3 years with NE" should be in before him.

Guy is reaching new levels with this take.

The all-time leader in all-purpose yards for NE and a guy that started his career, played 13 years and retired a Patriot without ever leaving doesn't deserve to be in it over a guy who played 3 years and went to play for the Pats most hated rival

New f**kin level of trolling by him

@Ian

Dear Ian,

As you can see from this thread, people are concerned that all the post-2001 players now eligible for the Hall of Fame will mean that none of the older ones will have a chance of getting elected. Perhaps we can do something to make a difference.

At Tony2046's suggestion I drafted a respectful letter to Mr Kraft expressing the concern. If you and others agree it's suitable, maybe you'd like to make a sticky that people could add their names to. And, if it's popular, you could alert some of the journalists who cover the team (Mike Reiss -- he's on the HofF Committee, I think -- Chris Price -- whom I still call "our own Chris Price" -- and Tom Curran, for example) that the thread exists.

That might be all it takes. Otherwise, it could be worth making one of those on-line petition things, so that people could sign with their real names. As it is, I imagine that it would be a bit weird for Andy Johnson and RayClay to be pushing their own cause ...

What do you think?

Mike

I'm not against it and I'd be happy to help out. I'll sit down over the weekend and see if we can't come up with something. I think the letter is perfect, so I'll send out some emails and see what else might work well to make this happen

He actually said that? If so, there really is now new low for him. What a despicable human being.

I get he needs to play contrarian to a degree, but that's just insulting the customer's intelligence.
