Red Sox 2016 Regular Season Thread

i was never impressed with Swihart as a catcher. I thought he still needed a lot of grooming in AAA and he was rushed to the majors. Vasquez is the far better catcher at this point
How is it possible for Swihart to be tagged with the label "offensive catcher"? To earn that label, shouldn't the guy actually hit in the bigs first? Me thinks Swihart is just another overrated piece that only Saux fans overrate?

I don't know any Sox fans who overrated Swihart. I know I didn't. I do believe there are media members and, obviously, RS personnel who have.

Am i the only one who misses don orsillo? the redsox broadcast is extremely boring without him. dave O'Brien is ok but man he doesn't have the sense of humor orsillo has.

I miss Orsillo but the booth has a more mature feel to it this year - Dave is as good as Orsillo so no difference in talent IMO.
Personally .... I thought the juvenile stuff was entertaining when the game sucked .. apparently NESN did not.

Kind of a weird question, but I got some Red Sox tickets off StubHub and the seller crossed their name off on the ticket. This shouldn't be a problem, ticket is still usable, right?

I read the fine print on the back of the ticket and it doesn't say anything about it

Worst ERA in the league ... your manager was a pitching coach ... amazing.

Farrell should've stayed retired. He's horrible; always was - except for one year - always will be.

Haven't heard the new guy yet, so I have no opinion either way.
What I do know, however, is that Remy should have been fired.

Sandoval's fat ass just got booed at Fenway.

All he's done is slop it up; pretend he's doing what he should and taking the money...like some retired ball player who still wears a uniform and gets a paycheck.

So far, this year, JB, Jr, Porcello and Travis Shaw are BIG positive contributors. That's exciting! :D

Bogaerts, Ortiz and Pedroia are solid.

Rutledge has been very productive in the playing time he's been given.

Betts, Price and Ramirez are good, but can play much better. Look for them to get hot as the season unfolds.

Carson Smith and Craig Kimbrel are as advertised. And the bullpen should improve.

Did I mention that the Sox are currently in first place and just beat a top CHI team? No, I'm not buying WS tix, yet. But this team has potential and they are not stinking it up. We'll get a better pulse on this in the next 6-8 weeks.

what a Bronx screw job. How the hell are those to pitches to Papi strikes? then he gets tossed....unreal

the umpire rung him up on the last pitch because he let his emotions get the best of him. he was pissed at papi . that's little league sh!t. he should be suspended. the last two called strikes were as bad as I've ever seen.

It wasn't just Papi. There were quite a few bad calls by the same up getting called in the late innings, and not just one or two. Personally, I was upset because there were so many bad strike calls spread across several batters. It was quite obvious that the ump was throwing the game...right in plain sight. I've never watched a game where there were that many bad strike calls!

It makes me wonder who paid that ump off. And I'm not just sayin' that because the Sox lost. In fact, I'm calling shenanigans on that ump right now.

Local media douchebags all full of themselves with the Ortiz steroids again ... D&C * crew and Felger and Mazz swallowing their jizz over it.

is there any Boston media that actually back the hometown team? In any of our sports?

I don't care if they back them ... it's just the continual use of straw man arguments ... and they paint the straw man as fact because no other explanation is better in their warped scenarios.

Checkin' in with a Sox reminder: This year's team is currently leading the league in many offensive categories (Runs, Hits, RBI, Avg, slugging %, OPS). In addition, they are in the top 10 in a few categories in which they are not actually leading (e.g. SB, 2nd; HR, 9th). Right now, we have at least 3 pitchers doing really well...Price, Porcello and Wright. (If Price sticks with his adjustment, he'll look like he did last night for the rest of the season...and he's 5-1, now.) Add two more pitchers who can keep them in games, and the rotation is fine. Of course, the bullpen numbers are awesome, and improving. Methinks the Red Sox are on to something. :D

Scored more runs to may 12 then all of May 2015..thats pretty damn awesome

they have to make a trade at some point to improve the starting pitching or they are going nowhere. see the cubs rotation.
