I am glad Danny did because he's injury prone and not all that good also he has never cracked 700yds in a season he was overpaid. That said I hope we can restructure Edelman some...so glad we Drafted those Rookies I have real good feeling about both. Sounds crazy but I have feeling IF he can some how remain healthy Aaron Dobson might Breakout this year...could well be his last hooray in this league.

Yes!! This is great news, 3.7ish million a year is fair value for his worth to the Patriots offense knowing he could get more than that on the open market (maybe even a lot more).

I think we are stretching it a bit...not based on his the last two regular seasons.

I have a hard time not keeping Martin.

B6 K. Martin is JAG receiver he has a little value on ST's but he does not get open consistently and that's his main problem.

Let's not forget, Mitchell was a FOURTH round pick.

Mitchell probably gets cut and added to the practice squad

Every 4th round pick selected by Bill Belichick for the Patriots has made the 53 outside of 1 guy who was on the PUP in camp and got placed on IR

2015- Shaq Mason, Trey Flowers and Tre Jackson (all 3 made it)
2014- Bryan Stork, James White and Cameron Fleming (all 3 made it)
2013- Josh Boyce (made it)
2012- No 4th
2011- No 4th
2010- Murderer (made it)
2009- Rich Ohrnberger (made it)
2008- Jonathan Wilhite (made it)
2007- Kareem Brown (made it)
2006- Stephen Gostkowski and Garrett Mills (both made it)
2005- James Sanders (made it)
2004- Dexter Reid and Cedric Cobbs (both made it)
2003- Asante Samuel and Dan Klecko (both made it)
2002- Jarvis Green and Rohan Davey (both made it)
2001- Kenyatta Jones and Jabari Holloway (Jones made it. Holloway was put on IR in camp)
2000- Greg Randall (made it)

Love Danny, hard not to appreciate team first guys like him.

Washington over Martin for the final WR spot for me. Just a better, more talented player that produced for a decade and if last season is an indication - still got it. If there's an injury to one of our top guys, I would feel much better with Washington as a backup than Martin.

I think Danny wants to stay in this area, he is linked to Olivia Culpo.. Miss USA 2012, from RI.

I think Amendola loves it here. I think he's super close with his teammates. That's worth something to some guys. The kind of guys we want to keep.

Yup. Guess I get to add Amendola to the list of guys who "get it". Let's see Collins, Hightower and Butler now step up. Play here for a bit less...not a ton less most likely...and win. Or go somewhere else where you may win, but it's not really as guaranteed as it is here.

Thank you Danny!

I like Amendola's clutchness.

But I love his handsomeness.

Danny may have the best hand-eye coordination on the team, and now we add Mitchell ( 2 drops last year?) and Lucien, who has the best hands in the year's WR class, it looks like we'll be seeing a lot fewer drops.

The other was Kareem Brown, who was cut because the Pats had a rash of injuries in 2007 and DE was one of their strongest positions.

Brown actually made the 53 out of camp. Got cut in Week 11.

Every 4th round pick except for 1 player selected by Bill Belichick for the Patriots has made the 53.

Boyce made it. Mitchell is a lock.

Fantastic news!

Brady has so many weapons and the kinds he likes huge TEs, quick shifty WRs, and 2 or 3 pass catching RBs.

Brady could go 15-0 with this group so won't matter what the courts or Jimmy G does. #bringit

good job danny.

otherwise, BB cuts your ass!!

Edelman can play slot, disagree on Martin and Hogan. Can they be plugged in in emergency, yes, are they going to give Brady a receiver who gets open instantly, as Welker, Edelman and Amendola can, no.
BB and Brady are both on record as saying martin and hogan are fine in the slot. Can that mean they are emergency only? Maybe, maybe not.

Honestly, unless he has the worst camp of his life, Washington will be on the team. I don't think they even bother signing Washington if they think he will be cut. Dobson has 0% chance of making this team, but to those thinking Mitchell will definitely make it, I think Washington has a better chance. Let's not forget, Mitchell was a FOURTH round pick. Also Lucien has no chance of making the team. Both Mitchell and Lucien probably get cut and added to the practice squad. Though that is a very risky route to go, especially if they have great camps, other teams will be watching.

I think it will be

Edelman
Amendola
Hogan
Washington
Martin
Slater

Mitchell and Lucien on the practice squad, Dobson to Dairy Queen working the drive through window.

Of course, there is always a caveat or two, lots of IF's. IF Mitchell and Lucien are incredible in camp, and BB is afraid to lose them, he's been known to be cut throat and cut a veteran so Hogan, Martin or Washington could be cut. What if De'Runnya Wilson is a beast in camp, do the Pats keep him as a TE and cut a vet TE ? LOTS of IFs, but if things happen as I suspect they do, I think those 6 vets are your receivers. I REALLY want Mitchell, Lucien and even Wilson to make the team, but they would really need to knock BB's (and Brady's) socks off to make the starting 53.

When have we had this many receivers that could be contributors ? It really is a GOOD problem to have that there will be some tough choices. I will be definitely concentrating on the WR/TE competition, should be very interesting.
Mitchell is making the 53. They are not risking him to PSQ.

I hope they use some of the money Dola gave back on Edelman. The guy deserves it.
