Matt Waldman on Jacoby Brissett

If Jimmy G. lights it up a First and a Second for Brady there is no loyalty in Sports just ask Bob Kraft.

I guess I just feel like Brady is the rare player who has been willing to leave tens of millions on the table to put the team ahead of himself, and I want them to let him go out in his own terms. I don't see him sticking around while he sucks and believe that if he does decline he will pull the plug himself. I don't want them trading him while he is still great and if they did I doubt I could continue to support them any longer. He's a rare player and should be respected as such.

Its a sad topic but knowing how BB operates he will never let us see Brady suck in a Patriots uniform so no need to worry about that. He and Bob would beg him to retire before they trade him. That I'm sure of.

I'm really not sure about Brady's ability to call it quits. He thinks he can play forever. With that said hes a grounded fellow who has his priorities straight. Just don't know...

To be fair, didn't Wilson and Brissett transfer to NC State from other highly ranked programs (Wisc and Florida)?
You're close lol. Wilson transfered from NC to Wisc if I'm not mistaken.

mea culpa...Then again if you are highly touted and sitting on a bench somewhere, NC State looks very inviting...Who's the QB coach there??

Wilson was recruited to NC STATE to play both base ball and football. He stayed in NC State for 4 years and graduated. Then he was drafted by Colorado Rockies to play base ball. The same year he decided to spend his last eligible year in Wisconsin to play football and hoped to go to NFL . So 4 years in NC State, 1 year Wisconsin.

Brissett was recruited by Weis to Florida. After one year, he transferred to NC State. He had to sit out entire 2013. He played in 2014 and 2015. So 1 year in Florida, 3 years in NC State.

There are very few things they could do to get me to stop following the Patriots, trading Brady is one of them. I won't watch Brady finishing his career elsewhere I will just say goodbye to football.

relax and enjoy
Brady's retiring here.
Thats carved in stone.
(even if somewhat against his will - time wise, and even with dead money for NE).

ps
Call me crazy - but if he (or Bill) feels his time has come before the end of the contract he might even restructure on time to release the dead money ... If anyone can do it Bill and Tom can

LOL put me in with the TB12 camp or bust or whatever but that would be a joke. "He maybe is gonna play like 4 good games that should totally wash out the GREATEST QUARTERBACK TO EVER PLAY THE GAME, assuming of course that he's totes amazeballs when that happens" because, like, he's younger and looks more like Aladdin. Jesus.

In that case I would be behind Tom taking personal offense to the slight, buying the New York Jets, and making sure they never had a worse record than the Pats again. And, unlike most other fantasy scenarios, Tom could actually make that happen. #12 NYJ would not be Namath no mo', ya know. Tom Brady Jets jerseys...but hey at least we got some draft picks.

He looks like an impressive athlete playing QB, but his throwing mechanics don't look professional grade. Hopefully he can work that stuff out.

Maybe I am old school, imo maybe we should wait at least until TC to see how Brisset adjusts to the big stage of the NFL... how many quarterbacks of the future are drafted every year, only to wind up warming the bench in a second tier NFL Franchise???..

Kiper et al, make millions off of prognostication of draft picks.. I will choose to wait to see his instincts on the field.

I agree, I was just responding to the suggestion they would trade him.

Unlike Manning, who was only hanging around to set records, Brady had really high standards for himself and will be harder on himself than anyone else would be and imo he will retire before others can truly claim he sucks.

Maybe I need a bigger sample size to see his consistency, but the mechanics didn't look THAT bad. Nothing that couldn't be coached up within 2 years. We're not talking about Byron Leftwich here.

Unlike some, I like BB's philosophy of regularly drafting and developing QBs. The pay scale for 2nd and 3rd QBs is a lot better than that for veteran QBs and allows the Pats to spread money around. And this kid might be fine in a couple of years but frankly I didn't see it on that tape. I especially don't understand Waldman's analysis on the first play. Brissette looked lost on that play. He had three receivers to his left with only one defend over there. Yes there were some inside defenders that we're going to get over there but there's no way they were going to get over there in time. The obvious play was to check down and hit the middle receiver to his left with a quick pass. Somehow Waldman praises him for staring down the deep safety who is not in the play at all. Anyway, we'll see how he looks after the Pats work with him.
