Scar: Thuney to play on the inside

Yup; we know so much more about OL's than Scar, NOT
Yeah...in Scar we trust, I suppose. It'd be nice if it were more obvious what the OL was going to look like based of FA and the draft, but that's clearly not going to be the case. Solder/Vollmer are obvi starting at LT/RT but behind them is a bunch of question marks and a free for all, and not necessarily in the good way.

Maybe Cannon only sucks when Scars isn't around. For all we know, with Scars yelling at him all day, he's pancaking D-linemen left and right at practice.

Cannon get significant reps qualifies as "a pinch"

With Solder/Vollmer at OT and one of Stork/Andrews at center, that leaves the 2 guard spots. If they can't find some reasonable play from the laundry list of: Kline, Jackson, Mason, Thuney, Cooper and (possibly) Stork, shame on them.

I definitely share your concern, but I also think that the loss of Solder was the main reason for their failure last year. The more I think about it, I'm not even that concerned with the interior positions anymore. I'd have much rather seen the addition of a blue chip OT, especially in a year when they took a lot of shots and didn't have many needs. I can understand not choosing a RB, but the decision to pass on an OT in the earlier rounds pisses me off a bit.

I wonder if we can get Anthony Davis from SF. He retired prior to last year. Now, he wants to
play. And, made it clear. Not for them. Plus, he went to Rutgers:)

Well, we'd all sure feel much better about the OT position if that came to fruition.

Arm Length
Nate Solder: 35-1/2"
Marcus Cannon: 34"
Cameron Fleming: 34"
Sebastian Vollmer: 33-1/4"
Joe Thuney: 32-1/4"

with deguilermo out, and Scar back Cannon has a chance to be as good as two years ago when he replaced injured Vollmer. He played excellent that year. In last year draft Scar has a huge impact on who we draft, Tree Jackson was on him, year before Stork and Fleming was his picks so basically Deguilermo has Scar guys to work with. And if u remember Devey as a starter and constant Oline shuffles says that deguilermo couldnt do magic with Dante guys. In SB year they have both proved veterans with wendell and connoly and both tackles healthy. Last year was a huge mess. Injuries were a major factor. So i hope that Scar find oline that will go back in Ridley time.

All around the league there is a shortage of good OT's - we should count ourselves fortunate to have two very, very good ones in Solder and Vollmer.

Last years injury plague at the position caused a revolving door of guys in and out of every position - OL strikes me as that unit that needs to most develop chemistry and a rapport together - this just didn't happen last year due to said injuries.

The Patriots have a long tradition of coaching up guys on the O-line - a huge amount of credit for that must go to Scar - who is now back with us.

Keep the faith.

I still have a hard time believing that the Pats will go into the season with Cannon when they stand to save $3.7M by cutting him. It increasingly looks like it is going to happen, though.

I can see cutting Cannon because he isn't good enough but I don't see them releasing anyone because of cap bit because they don't need to clear out space unless someone important has agreed to a contract extension and it is impactng their cap significantly. Right now Collins or Butler are the only ones who fit that description and I doubt we will see either sign a new deal during this season.

That savings gets rolled into next year though. A pretty significant chunk of change.

I wonder how involved BB is with the line, it kinda seemed like he let Scar run the show there.

This is why they should have drafted coleman or clark, great ot's. Instead they got another short armed athletic guard in thuney. And have to rely on turnstiles if Solder goes down.

Scar ok'd the picks of Jackson and fleming? Both pretty bad picks.

I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Stork is done due to concussions. They may already know this, or they may still be doing medical assessments that leads to this. We are counting on him being in the interior OL picture, but the picture changes significantly if/when Andrews becomes the #1 options and Wendell the #2.

Yeah, that Jackson guy played like a rookie....

I think what we all wanted/expected was a draft pick that would make an NFL level serviceable OT by next year and we are all are trying to piece out what actually happened. I can sorta see not taking a RB at all but the tackle position seemed glaringly weak after Solder and See Bass and those players are not a dime a dozen. Maybe the brain trust has a plan that none of us know about for addressing it. I hope so........JMHO

What are the odds of a 4th round pick making it into their second year in the NFL? What are the odds that they are starting?

It doesn't do them any good to "take a tackle" if they don't believe any of them are significantly better than what's already on the roster at #3 and #4. The only way to evaluate this is to see how the tackles do that they didn't take over the next three years.

Ugh....its a reasonable thought. Hes had a few of them. I have to think that if he has one more serious concussion he really needs to evaluate how important the quality of the rest of his life is to him

OT: I wonder how Mike Wright is doing.
