Parsing Krafty Bob's Statement

This thread and so many others are loaded with an assumption that Kraft has some allegiance to, or alignment with, the interests of us fans. Or that he should, and that there is some kind of moral obligation for him to do so. Where does this come from?

There's no evidence of this, and there is lots of evidence that he doesn't nor ever will. He's a business owner. That's what this is about for him. The football fandom stuff is just the window dressing on his retail store, to draw us in. "I sat in the stands for years..." yadayadayada, just words. Until people stop paying him for access to his product, at his stadium and on TV, he won't change.

His allegiance is to the value of his business first, and his cash flow second. That's it. Everything related to football is in service to this. If I'm disappointed in anyone, it is in myself for being duped into thinking anything else.

You answered your own question. People think he's aligned with the fans because he used to be one and has told us that many times.

So now we've devolved to the low point of taking shots at his girlfriend.

Next up: Take aim at the grandkids and great-grandkids. It's a draft pick after all.

There's much more than a draft pick involved. Kraft's capitulations to Goodell have cost the team two 1st round picks and a 4th as well as multiple millions of dollars in fines.

They also allowed the team's remarkable achievements under B&B to be called into question, even though 3 of the 4 SBs were won long before any minor memo violation and 1 SB was won after no violation at all.

His capitulation to Goodell has also put fans in the impossible position of having to defend the team and the two major contributors to it's success.

It's very possible that without the undue penalties levied against the Pats that they may have won one or two more SBs.

Wait...how did he capitulate on Spygate? BB and the Pats were caught red-handed trying to get cute with the no-taping rules. There's actual evidence (destroyed by Goodell) of wrongdoing. There's nothing Bob could do at that point.

you don't have to defend anything.........Tom Brady does not need your defense....the Pats don't need your defense

What no-taping rules? BB was within the letter of the memo because he wasn't using the tapes during the game. For that Kraft publicly labeled him a schmuck. I never hear a word of protest from Kraft about Goodell's ruling.

capitulate
[kuh-pich-uh-leyt]
verb (used without object), capitulated, capitulating.
1.
to surrender unconditionally or on stipulated terms.
2.
to give up resistance:
He finally capitulated and agreed to do the job my way.

There was no protest because BB was clearly in violation of the clarification memo. If he had question about what it meant a quick phone call or email to the League office would have been all it would have taken to clarify the new interpretation of the rule. Instead, BB decided to play semantics and got burned. He was caught and paid the price. There's nothing Bob could have done to help him. In this instance, Bob was correct in calling him a schmuck. It was a dumb move.

So when the PEDton fan who I play poker with today says that the Pats are cheaters I should just say yup, you're right Ed?

I agree that the Pats and Brady have done nothing wrong, but for some reason the owner of the team has accepted the loss of two first round picks and a 4th rounder and millions in fines for that nothing.

They were caught violating a rule that was poorly defined. I wouldn't say it was out and out cheating like shaving points or something. It was a misdemeanor that got treated like a felony by the League and their getaway drivers in the media.

just follow Fitzy's lead

No, they were caught violating a memo, not a rule.

By the letter of the law BB was correct. He may have been trying to be too cute in doing so, but he had a reasonable interpretation.

A less hotel front office would have been less draconian in their punishment. I would bet money that the Rats would have been punished far less sevetely.

Goodell said he didn’t believe BB, but he DID belive Rex Ryan and the Rats DC when they claimed to know nothing about the wall formation and tripping going on on their own sidelines.

No, they were caught violating a memo, not a rule.

It was a memo the intention of which was to clarify a rule. Since it was poorly written, it didn't do what it set out to do (ban sideline filming). If BB had any question at all about what the memo meant he should have (or got an assistant coach or someone else) gotten on the phone and asked for clarification from the League office. He didn't do that and got caught playing semantics.

Depends on who/what you believe.

I believe that once Goody got a clue and found out that filming was chronic behavior accross the league, he tried to interpret the rule the way he saw fit and bypass the actual process which was to have a review and modification of the rule done by the competition committee.

I think Bill knew exactly what Goody was doing, called BS on his Draconian crap and obviously got killed.

Love the idiots who like to talk for others....another trait of FOTM

by the way, your acronym is wrong..... Dummy
I don't need to talk for others. The posters other than myself to which you are incessantly responding to prove my case
Thanks for the correction of the acronym . You are still the head of the FOKD (Fellowship Of Koolaid Drinkers). Let me return the favor by pointing out that your use of term "Dummy" is indicative of a person with a lack of knowledge of proper English language. The term Dummy refers to someone who cannot speak which is certainly not the case. Try using Roget's Theasaurus to find an acceptable noun. Have a nice day.

Let me just add that the Jets were proven to have been filming the Pats after the memo came out. The League office came out with the statement that the Pats gave permission to the Jets to do so. Of course they couldn't find anyone on the Pats to verify that statement but the Jets weren't punished.

When Kraft decided to support the POS rather than BB on this matter for whatever reason, the die was cast for the destruction of the Pats reputation. The current witch hunt is just the natural progression of events when corruption and bias smells weakness. I fully believe that the real target was BB not Brady and I expect that as long as the POS is the commissioner and Kraft is the owner of the Pats, there will be another bogus violation aimed at BB and the Pats.

Isn't this ruling more a slap on the NFLPA's face? This fight was less about deflating balls, and about maintaining power by the NFL against the NFLPA and vice versa. The NFL simply cannot allow any precedence where their ruling/arbitration is overturned.

A single owner, like Kraft, will stand (and fail) alone against all the other owners (prolly 30 other owners think NE is getting what they deserve). However, isn't it the NFLPA's mandate as a coherent group to protect their legal power against the NFL. Isn't it *their* agreement with the NFL which is getting trampled?

To be fair, didn't the memo come out AFTER the Rats were caught filming in Foxboro?
