Probably got lost in all the noise with the UDFA signings, but the Bears cut Matt Slauson over the weekend. If the Pats are as concerned about the interior of the O-line as their offseason has indicated, might be worth a look. Even on his old contract with the Bears, he wasn't owed much money.

Per Rotoworld:
Slauson was owed just under $3 million this season. The move is surprising after Slauson finished No. 18 in Pro Football Focus' 2015 guard ratings, with a top-ten rank in pass protection. He allowed one sack in 16 starts, and just turned 30 in February. While the Bears are moving on with second-round pick Cody Whitehair at left guard, a good guard just hit the free agent market.

Apparently, you cannot have too many guards.

To be clear, his old contract ceased to exist the moment he was released.

Apparently not. I'd like to see the Pats take a long, hard look at the tackle position myself.

Definitely intriguing, wouldn't mind bringing him on board if Belichick is looking to import a known starter-quality lineman. I'd guess it depends on how he feels about Mason, Cooper and Jackson going forward, since all are question marks that could realistically be anything from starter-quality to essentially nonentities.

Anyone else remember this from the old Johnny Carson show? It's a poor recording, but just listen. One of my favorite jokes. And yes, it fits perfectly with Slauson being cut.

Sign the beast!

Then watch as BB unveils the new offense consisting only of OG, TE, and QB personnel.

Correct. I'm just implying that he could probably be had for a very reasonable amount of money at this point in time. I mean hell, isn't Cannon's cap hit like $3.6 mil? If Slauson was only scheduled to make $3mil this season, offer him a 2 or 3 year deal in the range of $5-7mil and get this done.
