Cannon is serviceable but sometimes he freezes and give open lanes to DE's. He is a liability and sometime hes gonna put Brady on the IR. As someone said, inconsistent play is one thing, Im ok with that (kind of) as the whole line was inconsistent last year, but this brain farts he has are too risky, last year week 1 against the Steelers he already had one of those and Brady got leveled by a CB blitz I think.

My opinion, try to trade him to a stupid team in need of OL and get a 5th rounder.

Oh yes the Pats are in need of Oline, I forgot for a moment, well, I'd look for an alternative, Im ok with Cannon never playing for the Pats again.

By the way wasnt he responsible for Suh falling all over Brady's leg in week 17. That was Brady's guardian angel who saved him because it should have been a catastrophe.

OK but his games played history does not support your statement. He had back issues years ago and a broken leg in 2013. Other than that since 2009 hes played in 88 of a possible 112 games for a 79% active rate. I'll take that any day of the week

He was battling a toe injury, too, maybe ture toe, which is painful enough to be distracting. Cannon didn't forget how to play overnight. He never made an excuse for it, but he was playing hurt.

If anything, I blame BB, Brady and McDaniels for that stupid gameplan. I would have promoted Iosefa, and run Bolden a lot in the first half with Mike Williams to Cannon's right, and run right at the feeble run defender Von Miller. Ware, too.

I don't get the gameplan. You have a RT with turf toe, don't trust Fleming, apparently, or Waddle, and you go shotgun spread 50+ times on the road? Terrible idea.

May Cannon now be deemed too pricey? Maybe. But, considering Vollmer always seems to get dinged every year, as good as Vollmer is, Cannon was been a good Swing tackle here. He always appeared to be more of a Guard to me, but I think for this team, with their zone schemes and need for athleticism at Guard, he's a Tackle here.

At the end of the day, I am very happy with the talent, youth and Scar coming back. I'll take those odds.

Keep in mind, this team was 10-0 until the injuries started piling up.

Cannon has sucked almost from the beginning, and there were plenty of posters complaing about his play before the super bowel. Cannon Now deemed to pricey...he was to pricey when he signed the contract. The front office must have been on drugs to give this slug a multi-year multi-million dollar contract.

Games played does support his statement, since Vollmer's missing more than 1 game in 5 if you go by the numbers.
Vollmer's played a full 16 game season once in 7 years.
Games played does not offer the breakdown of games where Vollmer's been significantly limited due to injury, and probably wouldn't have played with a better backup option available.

I'd start with being happy if Cannon could prove he was capable of playing just one position which at this stage, he has not.

As unpopular as it would be, I'm still not convinced that Cannon isn't the Pats' starting RT next season. There have been some hints from the media that the Pats are concerned with Vollmer's ankle injury, possibly to the extent that he could have to take a pay cut to stick around for this coming season.

It sure sounds like Scarnecchia would feel comfortable with Cannon as the starting RT if he can get him playing to the same level as last time he was the OL coach:

"Love his physicality. Love his passion for the game. He’s a smart kid, a great kid to coach, he’s driven to be very good. I think he’s a really good tackle," Scarnecchia said in 2013. "I like what he’s doing. I like how he’s doing it. Every day is a growth day for him. He’s a special kid. He’s a starting-quality player."
