Boston lowest rated TV ratings draft day one

To the guys calling out Providence, you all are extremely misinformed.

The only Giants/Yankee fans are transplanted PC, RIC, Brown, JWU or RISD students.

Providence is HARDCORE Pats/Celts/Sox/Bruins. There's no New York bias of any kind.

Foxboro is much closer to the Ct and RI borders than three of the 4 states you mention. And I'm in no way discounting those states. Northern VT is one of my favorite places on earth.

While of course we allow RI and Conn residents to come to our games, they are, however, considered migrant fans.

Then why did Providence blow off the boycott? Too many watching!!!

FU Goodell. Wait to you see the ratings for the games that Brady is suspended. There are 2 prime time games that will get killed in the ratings outside of NE.

Goodell sad.jpg

Goodell and Kraft have taken the Patriots fan base for granted. Goodell keeps up his BS, and Kraft left us to deal with crap anytime we wear Pats gear, enter a general football chat room, or similar. The two of them along with the other owners only care about revenues, pure and simple.

Doing things like this is the ONLY way to get their attention and have a little pay back. If Brady doesn't play, and you HAVE to watch, go to a restaurant or bar to watch the first game so it's 30 people watching per TV instead of 20+ TV's all tuned in. Yes, it's a sacrifice, but it's worth it.

I don't watch ESPN, NFL* Network any more. I didn't watch the draft last night or tonight, and won't tomorrow either. I'm sick of their ****. Done.

This is only the beginning for me. I will not order Sunday Ticket again (8-year subscriber), will never again buy merchandise, and I am done with the NFL the moment TB retires. Besides playoff games, I will not watch any games besides the Patriots.

**** Goodell, Kraft, and the other owners. They have taken everything I've given them as a loyal fan and shoved it down my throat. Can't wait until the NFL is no longer king and comes knocking at my door again, begging for my business.

We can all boycott watching the opening Pats game - Sunday Night Football on the road in AZ. If we could pull off a huge ratings drop in NE and/or the rest of the country for that game I would feel like we are doing at least something to get back at the NFL. We can all find out the score the next morning. It will be tough not to watch but we need to take a stand. I am encouraged by what happened last night. People clearly didn't watch. Keep it going Pats fans.

We can all also try not to watch the NFL special opening game on Thursday night or any of the preseason games.

If it's not the Pats, I don't bother with Thursday night garbage.

I remember as a youngster that there were two things that I wanted to do. I wanted to play baseball in the summer and football in the fall.

Baseball was in my blood. After a winter of oiling and shaping my glove (I can still smell the oil) I would throw my glove over the handlebars of my bike and head down to the park about a half mile from my home. Because there were so many more kids then we would easily have enough for two full teams. If not we would make balls hit to the opposite side of the field a foul ball. We also had the luxury of multiple fields (of each size) and would sometimes have a game vs the kids from the neighboring city.

Then I got older and transferred that love of the game into coaching. I spent close to 20 years teaching the game to kids from 8-15 years of age. But it was during that time that I became disenfranchised with the administrators of the game and the players. It seemed like they took the fans for granted and I walked away from MLB and have never looked back. I don't regret it one bit.

Now (unless something very dramatic happens) the same thing is happening to the other game that I loved and I can see that I'll soon be leaving the NFL behind too. It won't matter if they miss me or not (they won't) but it will make me feel better to know that they won't be playing me for a fool any longer.

I'd like to see the low turnout continue through all rounds. I won't be tuning in for even a second.

Matter of fact, i took the remote from my wife when she was channel surfing and moved it past ESPN channels and handed the remote back to her.

If it's not the Pats, I don't bother with Thursday night garbage.
But many of us do, so boycotting that game (another NFL "extravaganza") will be easier than not watching the Pats.

@MikeReiss
For ESPN's coverage of Day 1 of the NFL draft, the Boston market did a 1.5 rating, last among 56 metered markets.

@MikeReiss
Additional ratings info from ESPN's coverage of Day 1 of NFL Draft: Providence (3.4) and Hartford (4.5) fell below 4.7 national average.

Draft ratings down from 5.1 to 4.7. Mission Accomplished.

The bottom line is that we moved the national number down! That's the one thing the NFL did not want on one of its three showcase nights of the year: Draft Day, Opening Day and the SB.

Congratulations and stick to it. No true Patriots Fan was tuned into the Draft on Thursday night. You watched? You're a pretender.

As for Hartford and Providence...

Hartford's half New York as a market, so maybe it can be understood...maybe. And maybe they're still sore that Kraft didn't move the team there. But can Hartford still claim to be part of Patriots nation by birthright? Not to my way of thinking anymore.

But Providence? Providence that we call a city only to be respectful!?! No excuses! You wanna root for the NYFL, get on the goddam Amtrak and move to New Jersey...and don't come back! The hell with the lot of you!

And, who made up the 1.5 in Boston? You can all go pound sand too!

I expected the "Metropolitan" area that is so close to Gillette to put up similar numbers to Boston, which would have moved the national numbers down another tick or maybe two.

I live in NYC and I didn't watch either Thursday or Friday and I'm surrounded by Patriots haters. It wasn't that hard to do! Why couldn't those "HARDCORE" fans, who live among other "hardcore" fans, have done the same?

The Numbers talk. Everything else is baloney.

What would be great is if New England moved to the streams for the first four games, the simple mention of this IMO will cause melt down and network shareholders jump from high buildings. I was watching the draft, ESPN version on a well known video host site that millions visit daily, the feed came from a Spanish TV company but was showing full English speaking ESPN version even with American ads. If people realised how easy it is which IMO the NFL will dread, that will show them. Problem is sharing the message on how without drawing undue attention because you cannot post links. The feed I was watching on this well renowned video site which YOU would have used to watch the TUBE had over 10,000 people watching it in HD.

Yeah I'm sure the thousands of college students from out of state areas, in a very small demographic compared to the much larger city of Boston, cared very deeply about a self-imposed Draft ban....

That's right, just because you do something, the entire area has to follow suit. Good call....

Baseball is too boring to watch. Can you explain to the uninformed what exactly MLB did?

And does anyone know what the tv ratings were for Day 2 in the New England area?

Why stop there! Deport everyone in the USA who tuned into the NYJFL* draft to North Korea! They'll feel right at home!o_O

It started with the MLB strike in the 90's and after a few more years I had had enough. The players stopped being athletes and wanted to be known as entertainers. I found nothing entertaining about them. If anything, I used to use the lowlights of the antics of dopes like Manny Ramirez as a teaching moment for the kids. There were quite a few of those.

Hartford is NY anyway so, f em. But, way to go Pats Nation.
Your boy is from CT... die hard PATS all the way, love my state too buddy! Don't be so quick to judge CT cuz you think it's NY
