The Annual PatsFans Draft Contest, 2016

I've never gotten one pick right in the Draft Contest but have a lot of fun trying!!! Here goes, I'm not as familiar with some prospects as in prior years, but here goes nothing:

-Chris Jones- DT
-Kendall Fuller CB
-Caleb Benenoch OT
-Devontae Booker RB
-Jaylon Smith LB
-Will Redman CB
-Bralon Addison WR
-Cardale Jones QB
-Orion Jones DT
-Eddie Yarborough DE
-Joe Dahl OT

Sterling Sheppard, WR Oklahoma
Leone Caroo, WR Rutgers
Daniel Braverman, WR Western Michigan
Malcolm Mitchell, WR
Kenneth Dixon, RB Louisiana Tech
Keenan Reynolds, RB Navy
Kenyon Drake, RB Alabama
Jonathan Williams RB Arkansas
Jordan Howard RB Indiana
CJ Prosise, RB Notre Dame
Glenn Gronkowski, FB Kansas St

My teenage daughter's annual picks, based solely on the players' names:

Zeek Bigger, ILB, East Carolina
Steve Longa, ILB, Rutgers
Daniel Braverman, WR, Western Michigan
Eric Striker, OLB, Oklahoma
Vincent Valentine, DT, Nebraska
Mitch Smothers, C, Arkansas
Tajae Sharpe, WR, Massachusetts
Mike Jordan, FS, Missouri Western
Leonte Carroo, WR, Rutgers
Miles Killebrew, SS, Southern Utah
Scooby Wright III, ILB, Arizona

A centre called Smothers, a pass rushing linebacker called Striker and in next years draft a safety called Steelhammer. Certain people are born to play football aren't they?

I think they will select 8 or 9 guys but to play the game lets pick:

2(60) Sean Davis CB
2(61) Hassan Ridgeway DT
3(96) Devontae Booker, RB
4th round Joe Haeg OT
5th round Matt Judon DE ( Just pick this extra one because i think they will trade pick 91, but this one do not count for game purpose)
6(196) Dan Vitale FB
6(204) Nate Sudfeld QB
6(208) Daniel Braveman, WR
6(214) Travis Feeney, LB/S
6(221) Le’Raven Clark OT
7(243) Marquez North WR
7(250) Keenan Reynolds RB/WR

I wonder if most of us have made a mistake not going for Kevin Byard.

Oh great, give me second thoughts why don't you. :p

Byard's yet another example of the raft of small-school prospects this year. Despite BB's reputation for sticking to the top conferences he's branched out a lot in recent years, including some high picks like Collins & Garoppolo.

Joshua Perry, LB, Ohio State
Chris Jones, DT, Mississippi State
Cyrus Jones, CB, Alabama
C.J. Prosise, RB, Notre Dame
Justin Simmons, S, Boston College
Keenan Reynolds, QB/RB/WR, Navy (was it Slater or Edelman that was announced as "Athlete"?)
Chris Swain, FB, Navy
Kevin Hogan, QB, Stanford
Marquez North, WR, Tennessee
Sterling Bailey, DL, Georgia
Spencer Drango, OL, Baylor

  1. Sheldon Day, DT, Notre Dame
  2. Joshua Garnett, G, Stanford
  3. Cyrus Jones, CB, Alabama
  4. Rashard Robinson, CB, LSU
  5. Tyler Ervin, RB, San Jose State
  6. Graham Glasgow, G, Michigan
  7. Tajae Sharpe, WR, UMass
  8. Jaydon Mickens, WR, Washington
  9. Chris Swain, FB, Navy
  10. Mike Hilton, CB, Ole Miss
  11. Nick Kwiatkoski, LB, West Virginia

Chris Moore, WR, Cincinatti

Marquez North, WR, Tennessee

Sean Davis, CB, Maryland

Justin Simmons, FS, Boston College

This thread isn't locked so I was wondering if I could still post my picks? The only problem is that there were a couple of players that would've been on my short list (Artie Burns, Kenny Clark) that I thought the Pats may trade up for or that they may have been available when the Pats finally start drafting.

How about you go ahead and post, but include Burns and Clark in your 11?

Having done zero research this year a few guys I liked watching combined with a few guys from all of Bill's usual stomping grounds and finishing it off with the 199th rated prospect on CBS Sports to round it out. I'll probably do better than the years I put countless hours in only to have the Steelers, Chargers and Ravens draft everybody I wanted.

Sterling Shepard WR OK
Cyrus Jones CB AL
Jerald Hawkins OT LSU
Keith Marshall RB Georgia
Blake Martinez LB Stanford
Cody Kessler QB USC
Leonte Carroo WR Rutgers
Steve Longa LB Rutgers
Adolphus Washington DT OSU
Kelvin Taylor RB Florida
Cody Core WR Ole Miss

Decided I'd finally post my 11. I hope I get a few right this year! Put a lot of effort into this submission:

Goff, Jared
Wentz, Carson
Bosa, Joey
Elliott, Ezekiel
Ramsey, Jalen
Stanley, Ronnie
Buckner, DeForest
Conklin, Jack
Floyd, Leonard
Apple, Eli
Hargreaves, Vernon

We'll see how I do. I've got a good feeling about this list.

Ok, will do. Thanks.

Artie Burns, CB Miami
Kenny Clark, DL UCLA
C.J. Prosise, RB Notre Dame
Jonathan Williams, RB Arkansas
Jason Spriggs, OT Indiana
Johnathan Bullard, DL Florida
Hassan Ridgeway, DL Texas
Willie Henry, DL Michigan
Scooby Wright, LB Arizona
Jaylon Smith, LB Notre Dame
Mackenzie Alexander, CB Clemson

Good list. Think Eli Apple sucks as a choice though. And I'd have gone for Ragland and Jack personally.

Well, it looks like the ode will remain unclaimed for another year. We have about a dozen entries tied with a whopping 1 correct pick -- most of them via Cyrus Jones, and one pick each for Mitchell and Valentine.

To compound the general feeling that we're all throwing darts, the winning entries include both of the ballots chosen based solely on names. (My daughter's aesthetic roundup, and FreeTedWilliams' all-Jones extravaganza.)

If any of you tied at 1 spot one of your contest entrants among the Pats' UDFA signings, let me know and you might just get a fraction of a point tiebreaker!

I was sure at least one would have got Jones and Mitchell.

Well, well. If the reported UDFA signing of CB Jonathan Jones is confirmed, FTW's all-Jones strategy might just carry the day!
