Draft Day 2: Official Rounds 2-3 Thread

I was going to start a "Trade up or stay put " thread but this already covered it. Interesting discussion because there is some really good talent available and they have the draft capitol to make a deal if they want. Myles Jack would be worth the two second round picks and would effectively replace Collins if he wants the kind of money Von Miller is looking for, the question is the knee , and while I'm way off it I'm also in favor of it because it would mean they had their b first stolen from them but ended up with a top five player anyways and I want that FU to Goodell. I have always loved the idea of both 2's to Cleveland for #32 and would like nothing better than to see the NFL have to open tonight with the Patriots picking first and every talking head having to talk about how Goodell top their first rounder but Belichick still managed to get it back anyways F¿CK YOU ROGER! And even if it weren't Jack there are a number of guys who we projected firsts still available, such as Ragland, Reed, and Mackenzie. I don't think they will trade up for Booker or Henry but will suit tight for their RB, I think any move up will be for defense. Well see, should be interesting.

The Pats absolutely can't gamble in another injured player.

Why? They did it with Gronkowski and got the best TE in the history of the league. If Jacks knee clears their medical I would be all for it. Easely's problem isn't the knee it's Easely. If he had his head on straight and busted his ASS he would still be here. I don't believe they are going to be able to re-sign Collins and will have to tag him to keep him so Jack would give them the best LB corps in football and replace Collins in a couple of years?

My pats board from yesterday is still completely intact.

I think Alexander is the best CB in the draft excluding Ramsey. I'd love to go up and get him.

The OT value from what I've read isn't good from pivks 50-70. Might as well wait to round 3 for a developmental swing tackle with so many good players still on the board.

Also, yesterday went well for us from an AFC contender perspective. Artie Burns is not the CB you want covering Edelman or Hogan. Meanwhile, Sanchez vs. Lynch for the Broncos starting QB job. :D (Had a 3rd round grade on Lynch)

EDIT: I assumed we had no shot at Ragland or Spence. Interesting.

I know that I'm biased, but trading up for either of these guys, especially Henry, would be a really good thing, IMHO.

– A’Shawn Robinson, DT, Alabama

Robinson was an intrical part of the Alabama defense and imposed his will on opposing offensive lines throughout his collegiate career. His nickname, “man child”, describes his on the field power. His two-gapping ability and interior disruption would be appealing to New England. Consistency is an issue.

– Derrick Henry, RB, Alabama

A big, bruising runner with a north-south style. His patience, balance and nose for the line to gain would seem to be a terrific long-term replacement for LeGarrette Blount. Coming from a pro-style offense, Henry should make a smooth transition to the NFL.

Chris Jones is grossly overrated. This is Vernon Gholston all over again. I wouldn't take him at all. Myles Jack is the best player available and its not close.

I am sure a lot of those players that slipped will be picked very shortly. I can't believe Alexander didn't go higher and no chance he falls within range of a reasonable trade up.

He is tempting to want to package 2 2s for but without that 5th year option i don't think it is good value.

Anything but a 2nd and 3rd to move up means the Pats shouldn't.

He will be gone in the next 5 picks so it doesn't matter though. It would be interesting of the Pats drafted Myles and Smith. If one of them plays up to his potential and heals that would be a huge win and gain for the pats.

While I also think Chris Jones is not as highly valued as most people do but i see the reason for intrigue.

Give me any one of Derrick Henry, Jonathan Williams, CJ Prosise, Alex Collins, Le'Raven Clark, Jerald Hawkins, Chris Jones, Sean Davis, Austin Johnson, or Hassan Ridgeway tonight and I'll be happy. That said, I'm not expecting any of them knowing how this team drafts.

EDIT to add some WR's. Braxton Miller, Sterling Shepard, or Michael Thomas as well.

If one thing we know is for certian, in the second round, Belichick takes the last guy you'd expect.
Im going to say that's the case when the pats have a first rounder. I think BB will treat this like he would if it were the first rnd instead of the second, he won't take a flyer on a questionable prospect.

Maybe on one pick, but he's got two back to back, so I'm expecting some sort of craziness to ensue.

I just hope one of them is Henry. About time we drafted a stud RB.

If Henry falls to the Pats, I'll be out of my seat screaming at the TV to pick him. I just doubt he falls to the Pats. Then again, I said he wouldn't fall out of the first round and I was wrong about that too.

Just gonna reiterate what many have said.

If either Myles Jack or Jaylon Smith falls to us, we really should take a chance (assuming our medical staff clears their knees from future problems). While neither will contribute next season they are insane talents and worth using a second round pick for, and it seems neither has character issues that Easley has.

Or grab a DT if neither are available.

Then grab one of Michael Thomas/Kenneth Dixon/Tyler Boyd and I'd be happy.

I figured he'd fall out of the first round, but I highly doubt he's going to last another 27 picks.

I think we would certainly have to move up to get him, but I really hope I'm wrong.

offensive lineman please. have to keep jimmy/tom healthy..

add a defensive lineman/CB/RB and we should be alright..

We'll see but I think Henry will be available at pick 60. Booker/Dixon are more complete RBs.

Henry's lateral movement is mediocre and probably won't play on 3rd down.

He's a good fit here as we use downhill RBs who don't catch. He would be a suped up version of Blount/BJGE.

I really like Henry too but admittedly I am biased toward skill position players as I have zero clue as to how to evaluate OL, etc.
