"The public perception is now in favor of our team"

Where do you see that?! Any coverage I have seen shows other teams fans practically or literally jumping up and down celebrating this suspension....and ANYTHING negative against the Patriots. Here in Florida every dolphin fan cracked a bottle of Moët ( or probably Andre knowing these losers) celebrating.....haven't found Anyone yet that is a fan of another team that has said "man Brady and the Pats got screwed....a SLIGHTLY less inflated ball means nothing to the outcome of that game....Pats blew them out in second half AFTER they switched out footballs....comes down to a quarterbacks preference but NEVER gave them an advantage etc". Never hear any of that....just ..."hey when you go and cheat all the time....you deserve to get punished....they should have taken all your draft picks, and suspended both BB and Brady for LIFE!..... That's the butt hurt acidic Bullsh(t that I've been hearing nonstop.....

Just saying there is no upside at all to a forfeit. Nothing good will come out of a stunt like that.

And I don't see Tom filing a defamation suit either. I doubt he will want to experience being opened up to discovery.

The public perception is now in favor of our team. If this is the end of the road then a presser with a strongly worded denial of wrongdoing and disagreement with the league and the court will be sufficient and hopefully they can move on.

If you don't give a **** about Kraft, his money, his team, or his league, forfeiting games makes a lot of sense. Since I don't, I'm all for it.

How many layers of appeal do you think we need?

====================================================

I'm thinking he could just roll with it, be quiet and put this behind him. Or roll with it, issue a statement of denial and put it behind him.

Better yet he might accept responsibility and admit his quilt, take the 4 game suspension, and put this behind him.

I'm sure I could come up with even more options. My point is that by continuing to fight the suspension he risks making things worse for him by keeping all this in the news and I think it hurts his legacy.

what the hell, save the wear and tear of the four games and the Pats still win the division anyway.

That's pretty moronic. Nothing hurts his legacy more than accepting an unjust punishment.

If he did any of the things that you suggest above, you'd be the first ******* in here saying "see? this PROVES he is guilty!!!"

Only one.....but then you gotta get to da choppa
giphy.gif

He should
1. appeal en banc
2. request an injunction to stay the suspension
3. play the season
4. win the SB
5. throw down the trophy
6. retire.

All of the above, oh yeah you left out personal defamation Lawsuit T Brady vs R Goodell.

If he actually did anything he would have done that at the beginning. If your innocent and being called a liar, a cheater you have to fight til the end especially when it's a rigged game.

.....I just wish the Dorito dinks would file suit. They are not public figures so they have a lower threshold. Plus, Brady would technically not be a party to the lawsuit, so he would not be subject to discovery. The NFL office would be though.
I'm curious about how discovery works. Couldn't the *NFL have already destroyed any incriminating evidence that proves this whole thing is a sham? Since there isn't currently a defamation suit is he league under any obligation to keep documentation?
I wouldn't put it past them to have been spending the last year rigging documents to make it look like the actually believe Brady is guilty.

Excellent question, and I cannot honestly say I know the answer. However, if Ted Wells was named in the (hypothetical) lawsuit, it would not be plausible that a lawyer discarded documents from a (sham) investigation that still isn't even a year old.

Fair disclosure is I do think he is guilty

Many would continue the ruse till the bitter end if they know there guilty, it proves nothing to continue to fight and continue to lose. And in this case even if he were to some how get a win out of this it won't mean much to the majority.

I say move on.

I don't and probably never will know short of a confession from TB if he is truly guilty are not.
Honor aside, sometimes the best move is to concede.

=================================================

Fair disclosure is I do think he is guilty

of what?

Of deflating footballs to 11.30 plus/minus 0.40 psi (that's the number you get using readings from both gauges, though it was 11.48 psi plus/minus 0.4 psi using the gauge the ref remembers as being the right one)

when they were supposed to be at 11.32 psi, with a whole host of assumptions, such as the exact temperatures and timing of testing, while ignoring rain and humidity?

Do you understand error bars?

We would know with complete certainty that Brady would be lying, if he "admitted guilt", since the offense he would be admitting simply did not happen.

Can you honestly not grasp that?

Fair disclosure is I do think he is guilty
Exactly. And no matter what he does, you'll be saying "see? that proves he is guilty! He should have done something else!"

Something tells me you don't have the first clue about honor.

Nails-

Applying general plea agreement principles, if the better deal is what you are looking for in carrying out the ruse of professing innocence, then I expect you hit the mark in terms of expected offers and then take the deal. If sports experiences teach anything (Clemens, Giambi, etc.), total denial of misconduct results in scorn while fast admissions (Rodney Harrison, Andy Pettitte) coupled with a plausible explanation diffuse the issue quickly. Brady is no dummy, so I assume he knows those lessons. I also expect there have been offers to put this to bed long ago and he did not jump.

If you are innocent (and I would agree nobody truly knows that answer other than Brady and anyone else directly involved), then there is really no reason to stop (nobody actually innocent should plead guilty to a criminal offense - weighing the credibility of affirmative defenses is often the foundation of plea discussions, but the party is in fact guilty of the crime absent proving the defense).

What does going forward cost Brady (a motion for rehearing en banc or petition for certiorari interfere with nothing and are relatively quick in terms of processing time)? What is the return if he simply gives up? I simply don't understand the argument for dropping this after a 15 month fight. There is similarly little reason for the Commissioner to give Brady anything of value for dropping this case, as that would represent an acknowledgment that he was out of line with the sanction and that he might lose with additional decisions in court.

From the gun in this process, it was clear Brady will not convince the doubters he never cheated and those who believe in him will continue to do so. That was never a reasonable goal in this litigation. But a statement of overreach in issuing the penalty does have weight in assessing the offense through the lens of history (ask the Saints players after their sanctions were tossed). Eat the sanction and accept that you were suspended for the violation. It is of some importance, and thus is worth fighting for if you care about your legacy.

So you think he voluntarily went under oath and lied? You know who didn't go under oath?

Really tho you're smarter than that man. If you think he did it you think one of two things.

1) No ideal gas law.

Or 2) Walt didn't use the gauge he said he did, 50 year old ball boy deflated 12 balls by .3 PSI each on average. Yeah that's .3 not a full 3 PSI.

Fair disclosure is I do think he is guilty

====================================================

I have lost all respect for you as a poster. You're an im(poster). and a complete failure. You deserve your team.

He represents more than just a football player. Or teammate. Or employee. Or family man. He is a Union man. He's not giving in. He's got guts, nads and a sense of loyalty to his brothers.

**** that and **** you.

does anyone know the sanctions the league could impose if the patriots were to forfeit just the Sunday night opener in AZ in protest?

The Patriots could get in a plane crash and the league would take away their first for not playing, if they did it as a protest the league would take the team over.
