This quote is getting me thinking about this whole thing.
Maybe I'm reading too much into a third hand quote but to me saying that you - quote - "believe you did nothing wrong" is not quite the same thing as saying "what are they talking about I didn't do anything". SOMETHING gave him enough pause to qualify the denial that way. I just can't figure out what it is.
To me the obvious thing that comes to mind would be an order to the dorito dinks to make sure the illegal overinflation by the refs like in the Jets game never happened again. But if that was the case then Wells would have been told about it.
Hopefully we don't find out one day that this was a careless repeat of Spygate where Belichick also "believed he did nothing wrong" with sideline taping because of a literal interpretation of the rulebook that didn't end well....Also not being done with a nefarious attempt to cheat the game but something that would get them into trouble regardless. But then again what rule in the rulebook could they point to to justify deflation of footballs like there was for sideline taping? There is none.
This whole thing is just weird. I hope Brady sits down on national TV one day and explains to the world what exactly the deal was.
