This quote is getting me thinking about this whole thing.

Maybe I'm reading too much into a third hand quote but to me saying that you - quote - "believe you did nothing wrong" is not quite the same thing as saying "what are they talking about I didn't do anything". SOMETHING gave him enough pause to qualify the denial that way. I just can't figure out what it is.

To me the obvious thing that comes to mind would be an order to the dorito dinks to make sure the illegal overinflation by the refs like in the Jets game never happened again. But if that was the case then Wells would have been told about it.

Hopefully we don't find out one day that this was a careless repeat of Spygate where Belichick also "believed he did nothing wrong" with sideline taping because of a literal interpretation of the rulebook that didn't end well....Also not being done with a nefarious attempt to cheat the game but something that would get them into trouble regardless. But then again what rule in the rulebook could they point to to justify deflation of footballs like there was for sideline taping? There is none.

This whole thing is just weird. I hope Brady sits down on national TV one day and explains to the world what exactly the deal was.

You're reading WAY too much into it. Parsing sentences and deconstructing phrases for what you would mean if you said it almost always ends up with an incorrect conclusion.

Take it for what it is. He didn't tell anyone to deflate footballs.

Same as the infamous press conference days after the incident. At that time, he thought the balls were actually tampered with, since that's what the NFL falsely leaked.

There is no proof they did anything on the sidelines, that theory is insane.

 Well this thread will be on ESPNs front page in 3..2..

The QBs are allowed to do a zillion things to prepare the footballs. That includes choosing the inflation level. I've always read that as Brady saying that he knows he does a boatload of things to get the footballs exactly where he wants to be, and he believes it all fits within the rules, but there are so many rules and so many things that get done that he can't say for 100% certain that something didn't get bungled in any of the steps taken.

He didn't deflate footballs....end of story.

Everything else is ********.

Bottom line is we all saw the texts and there was nothing . . . nothing . . . to suggest that anything against the rules was done; nor that Brady demanded it if it were.

In fact, although we don't know for sure what happened, the IGL pretty much dictates that the balls were legal because if we deflated them they would be far lower, per the IGL.

My guess as to why it says he "believes" (remembering also, he's a QB not an English scholar) is I could see him thinking perhaps the equipment guys were made to feel like they had to do something to keep him happy after the 16 PSI game against the Jets. But, again, the IGL states that didn't happen based on all the tests that have been done.

Their argument is Brady deflated them .3 PSI. That is what they went to court over. .3 PSI. Is that even possible to manage?

You are using the word "believe" in the wrong manner. Howe says Brady will go to his grave BELIEVING....meaning he in his heart of hearts and soul of souls KNOWS he didn't do anything.

the only quote you need to look at is the text he sent to jag "Don't worry buddy, you didn't do anything wrong"

Buddy? Awfully suspicious he's buddies with a ball boy! CHEATEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER!!!!

Brady might be one of those rare people who doesn't have a lawyer vet every word he says before he speaks to a friend.

Hmm, you seem to know a lot about how the guilty behave.

What are you hiding, Mr. Froob? If that is your real name...

You are more than likely generally aware that I can't read your posts, dorito dink.
