NFL Owners wants Goodell to reduce 4 game suspension and end Deflategate once and for all.

I know it's a pipe dream, but how awesome (and effective ) would it be if nobody showed up at the first 4 games? What, is there 3 home games? That would absolutely be nail in the coffin for the NFL. The NFL lives on money. And they get their money from us

Yeah, right. These numbskulls can't even help themselves from making Brady number one in merchandise sales, and they're going to boycott games? They'd be more likely to pay twice as much "to show their support for Brady" than not show up.

Believe me, I want some form of vengeance/satisfaction as much as anyone, but I don't get the talk about a "defamation" suit.

Don't there have to be demonstrable economic damages for a defamation suit to proceed without being tossed by a judge ?

According to at least one media source yesterday, Brady gear was the biggest seller in the NFL last year. Wouldn't he have to produce a sponsor who could be deposed under oath that it had reduced payments to Brady or not engaged Brady directly because of Deflategate, with a dollar number attached?

Beyond that, Brady is a public and media figure. The bar for slander or libel is very, very high for people who fit that profile, especially when the slander in question would have been perpetrated as part of a Court proceeding, where there is considerable leeway for Counsel.

I'm NOT trying to argue that Discovery wouldn't unearth a lot of really bad behavior by the NFL, just that getting to that point is not likely.

Any hackers out there willing to risk a few years in prison to expose the League? But, that, in the immortal words of Richard M. Nixon, "would be wrong."

I would not allow this to ever end ...... if I was Brady drag it out until the end of time...even if I wound up winning......this thing would fester for years....I would also be openly critical of other owners like Jones and other big spending losers....make it part of my routine

It would be like Jesus carrying the cross for 1500 years

I don't have your confindence about all of NE not watching the draft. We're a pretty insular bunch here. I haven't meet one person on the street that knows this site exists, and i do live in Ma.
you're right. We'd have to create a fund and take out full page ads in every major newspaper in new England to have even a chance of denting the ratings. I'm not watching but I don't think it will make any difference.

Brady should do nothing that even hints at an admission of anything vaguely resembling guilt.

unfortunately, his teammates will be among the losers as well as we fans, since that looked like a 4--0 start to me. Now I'm hoping for 2--2.

If the NFLPA was a real union, on the Wednesday before the season opener, they would inform the league that Brady's suspension, fine and anything else they demand must be dropped within 24 hrs or no games will be played on opening weekend. Stick em where it hurts

Take no deal! Goodell will demand an admission of guilt for any reduction. Do not give in to coercion, do not admit guilt to something you aren't guilty of, fight to the wall! F Goodell, F the 32 owners, F the league, and F all the idiot fans who believe TB and the Patriots are cheaters. Where's Fitzy's next GFY video...

Satch-crush! :D

Screw them! The damage has already been done to Brady and the Pats. I hope Brady wouldn't consider it and goes full speed ahead with the defamation lawsuit the NFL* and Goodell so richly deserve.

The only deal I would consider is a complete exhoneration of the Pats and Brady, the return of the stolen draft picks, penalties to the culpable teams, the Colts in particular, a revisiting of the Rats' tampering penalty in light of the discrepancy between the Rats' slap on the wrist and the loss of draft picks by other teams for the same offense both before and after the Rats' latest offense,

AND AN ADMISSION FROM THE NFL* THAT THE WHOLE DEFLATEGATE ISSUE WAS HANDLED POORLY FROM THE START, AND BECAME A WITCHHUNT!

Add in public pillory whipping of ringleaders and I'll sign on.

Yeah... that's not going to happen because people are still addicted to football. We have guys that have season tickets on here and have for years complaining about the way this has been handled and complaining about Kraft and yet they're still going to renew those things and give the NFL and Kraft thousands of their hard earned dollars. If people aren't cancelling their season tickets, they damn sure are not going to all get together and protest four games.

The typical fan is so addicted they will put up with all kinds of stuff. List the poorly run teams. Most of them have sellouts anyway. In half a century, we have gone from bleachers to theater chairs, suites, jerseys, caps. Going to a game is like going to the opera.

The owners take advantage of that addiction.

Other fans are going to have to join us for this to reach critical mass. Saints, Chiefs, fans from other teams that got shafted.

Seriously, if you're going to go through the trouble of boycotting any of it, might as well boycott the whole thing.

Why? The Patriots have four picks Friday night and I'm interested in who they take. They have nothing on Thursday so I won't watch.

fat chance!

roger has won. jellyfish kraft loses again!! i guess spineless bob will NEVER receive his long awaited apology now. ****ing douchebag.

screw the draft this year. wasn't going to watch regardless of tb12

gonna miss kiper though.

I think NBC is going to be really pissed for their Sunday night opener at Arizona. That had all the makings of a ratings bonanza. But I doubt they have the level of influence you're suspecting though - Goodell does take money into account. NBC would have been pissed over last year's opener too, but apparently it wasn't enough to cause Goodell to change a thing.
I disagree. I think the ratings will be higher if the suspension stands with fans of all the other teams tuning in and licking their chops. Man I hope Garropolo is the goods.

Brady dropped dramatically in consumer appeal because of deflategate. He ranked in the top 1,000 of celebrity endorsers prior to this and dropped over 2,000 spots, that dramatically effects his marketability and that's a significant financial shift and the basis for the defamation suit. This information is from the Globe, May 22nd 2015.

Absolutely not. Brady has a legitimate case that he was defamed by the league once ****dell went from "more probable than not" to doubling down and saying he flat out cheated when he equated it to taking PEDs. He would not have to prove economic damages. Would only have to argue and show it was Published, False and Injurious

Published is in the bag, as ****dell and his goons words have been printed.

False, Well the nfl's attorney point blank said to Judge Berman they had no evidence linking Brady to it. Could very well be argued that it was false when ****dell continues to say it was a fact that he cheated but the nfl attorney said to a federal judge in court they had no direct evidence on Brady

Injurious, Brady's reputation has been damaged by this.

As for Brady being the biggest seller, if the nfl tried to use that in their argument Brady's lawyers would easily argue that it was Patriots and Brady fans showing their support and that jersey sales don't effect Brady one way or another because jersey sales are part of a shared revenue.

Winning the lawsuit is one thing but any judge worth their salt wouldn't throw this case out.

Defamation seems like a slam dunk here....but the justice system is ****ed so Goody still probably wins somehow.

IANAL but defamation is the damaging of someone's reputation. This is the picture perfect case of that. Whether Brady meet the standard that "the league intentionally or knowingly made untrue and damaging statements about him" is debatable but this is absolutely, 100% defamation. Money can't buy a reputation.

The only way I see this happening is if Brady is granted an appeal en banc. Then the offer is two games, drop the appeal, no strings attached.

But Brady won't take it. :D
