We'd have to sign Jimmy G after 2017. Can't afford with Brady signed. Think Osweiler money. And KC pick for Cassel was 34. Jimmy G will be cheaper for a year and better IMO.

Cassel was not good. And Jimmy G should be judged on his ability after 4 games, not his record. He could be 0-4 but still play well.

While the tag has been used for Manning and Brees, it's also been used for Cassel in the past as well as Kirk Cousins this year. One year ago today, would you really have thought of Kirk Cousins as a franchise QB? Again, teams are desperate for anything resembling decent play by a QB. *IF* Garappolo plays well in his 4 games (the premise behind this whole thing), then there will be a team out there that says that similar play as a starter in 2017 is worth a franchise tag if needed for 2018. Obviously if Garappolo sucks this year, this whole discussion is moot.
