TB's options...

Even if it does happen eventually, Brady will not get a stay until the Supreme Court decides to take the case.
What makes you say that? It is clear that serving the suspension would create irreparable harm to Brady, which is the textbook case for issuing a stay.

The kneejerk reactions are understandable. But the forfeit talk is absurd.

I expect a firm and sensible response from the organization not something as mind blowingly stupid as a stunt like that.

Unless you don't mind Goodell using the powers confirmed in court to suspend Belichick for life and take away our entire draft for the rest of the decade. Think he can't do that? Think again. The court said he can call whatever he wants conduct detrimental and punish any way he sees fit.
The only way the league feels pain is if it loses revenue or in court.

Aside from Bob suining the league or Tom filing a defamation suit, forfeiting games is the remaining nuclear option available.

The issue is that the remaining 52 players will be pissed as hell. Not playing and losing game checks simply will not fly with them.

Just saying there is no upside at all to a forfeit. Nothing good will come out of a stunt like that.

And I don't see Tom filing a defamation suit either. I doubt he will want to experience being opened up to discovery.

The public perception is now in favor of our team. If this is the end of the road then a presser with a strongly worded denial of wrongdoing and disagreement with the league and the court will be sufficient and hopefully they can move on.

It's an absurd suggestion, and embarrassing how many people here are calling for it. Bob Kraft would open himself up to so much legal liability, he would risk losing the team. If he forfeited all 4 games, he could be sued for hundreds of millions of dollars from all impacted parties.

I just wish the Dorito dinks would file suit. They are not public figures so they have a lower threshold. Plus, Brady would technically not be a party to the lawsuit, so he would not be subject to discovery. The NFL office would be though.

Couldn't agree more.

M&J are the ones that can file the defamation suit and given their radio silence I think there is a decent chance that they are planning to do that at some point.

Not sure about public perception changing. I think it's etched in stone and I personally no longer give a ****. I'm interested in screwing the league at every angle.

howe says brady/nflpa arent sure to appeal

such a weak response which is why goodell continues to own those clowns.

Tom Brady not ready to accept court ruling today - far from it, per sources. Mulling options with legal team. But this is not yet over.

I'm sure Brady's counsel is reading this thread. :D

Firm and sensible? WTF can they possibly do at this point?

The league now has the press, public opinion, and (NOW) the law on their side. All the Patriots have is science and the truth. Guess which one win out in this "enlightened" society we now live in.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Agreed, and according to Florio, the stay is automatic as long as the case continues. Of course, that won't be up to Brady or the union. ;)

Options?

1. request en banc review from a court full of judges who are probably Jets/Giants fans (I'd bet anything that Chin and Parker were NY fans simply abusing their authority);
2. Hope SCOTUS grants cert and saves the day. The same SCOTUS that recently found that our corporate masters can pretty much buy our government officials through superpacs and, in a free society, we are required to purchase health insurance against our will.
3. Sue for defamation in a MA court and get access to discovery that was denied to him initially. Expose Goodell and league. Clear Brady's name. Get a verdict that makes Hogan's look like chump change.

Frankly, a successful defamation suit against Goodell and the league would please me more than Brady winning another Superbowl.

Look, we're all pissed off about this but this team will never EVER forfeit a game much less 4 of them.
BB wouldn't put one player over the good of the team even if that player is TB12.

the supreme court? that will never happen.

tom's going to have to sit out...which sucks.
if the CA supports Petersen, then there would be conflicting findings by two different courts of appeal on similar issues. That's the kind of thing that the SC might take up.

It'd be awesome if the whole team refused to play...
does anyone know the sanctions the league could impose if the patriots were to forfeit just the Sunday night opener in AZ in protest?

Lol like there's set rules? Anything is possible. He could strip all four titles and every victory.

Suing for defamation and getting access to league communications is the only thing that will clear Brady.

Even if he appeals this ruling, and it is heard, and he wins, he'll still be considered a cheat by everyone who got off on a technicality.

Brady's communications have already been released to the courts. The only way biased people will realize the truth is by having nfl documents showing that it was a blatant frame job come out

people talking about forfeiting are crazy.

BUT

if tom is forced to miss the first four games, the first play for the offense should involve 10 players and no QB. everyone lined up, and take a delay of game penalty.
