Tom Brady suspended again

We all knew that an arbitrator is allowed to make mistakes, to be sloppy, and even to be dead wrong, yet still his decision stands, if he followed proper procedures. The Garvey case settled all that.

How in the world anyone believes that Goodell followed proper procedures suggests bat$hit levels of craziness.

Proper procedures do not include lying, actively spreading those lies, covering up damaging truths, withholding the right to cross-examine witnesses, being fundamentally unfair, then even lying to the court, and on and on.

This a thousand times over. I've pretty much lost faith in the U.S. Justice system with this ruling. How can one judge claim with a straight face that the evidence is compelling (even overwhelming) that Brady was involved in a cheating scheme to deflate footballs, if he actually read all the evidence? He has to be a grade A moron to believe that. Not even Ted Wells, who investigated this, thought that.

Moreover, per your point, how on earth can two of three judges believe that Goodall treated Brady fairly here, or within the bounds of the CBA, and within the limits of US labor law? Literally, these two judges just ruled that Goodall can fabricate evidence, lie to the public about a player, cover up the truth, lie to the *court* (!), and then issue a penalty that is so far beyond what the NFL rulebook itself calls for - essentially that Goodall can do anything he wants to any player or team he wants, and there's NOTHING that anyone can do about it.

Think. About. That.

How can we have confidence in our legal system after this?

I feel terrible for tom but at the same time.....if hes able to lead us to a title this year despite goodell doing everything in his power to ruin him, it would be the best revenge and pretty freaking awesome.

If you go to the ESPN website, Skip Baseless makes an impassioned defense for TB.

Well he's one of the few expceptions of the mediots that have been in support of Brady.

I know it would never happen or even if he legally could do it, but would love to see Kraft file a suit on Thursday in Federal Court to get the first round pick back. Get an injunction to halt the draft until a hearing is set. It would be amazing to see the reactions of the league and ESPN. Kraft demands his pick and money back and Brady suspension reversed or the court filings will be still in play.

Not happening I know but one can wish for the Nuclear Option.

And then when Roger hands him the SB MVP trophy, he just looks at him and says, "Kiss my ass, Roger."

He wouldn't get an injunction because he wouldn't have a reasonable chance to succeed because he accepted the ruling without appeal.

The ruling references the text message of Jastremski giving McNally a needle. If you read that text in context it was a joke and the "big needle" was a reference to his penis. Unbelievable! A ruling from U.S. Court of Appeals includes an out of context **** joke as evidence of a conspiracy. How pathetic and embarrassing.

This entire country is at rockbottom level of stupidity for egging on all of this just so a winning sports figure and genuinely good human being who other's hate out of jealousy, can get his reputation slightly damaged. And now that US court system has gotten in on the "stupid". Wonderful.

Welcome to the Sovietization of America. If you know or can find someone who lived under Communist rule, they will tell you that this is how things are. There is the official Narrative, which everyone parrots and speaks about in public. It's all lies. Everyone knows it's lies. However, to say that gets you sent off to the gulag. Then the family talks about old Uncle Vanya who was meshugah and couldn't stay with the Narrative. Of course, eventually the cognitive dissonance gets so bad that everything goes to sh.t.

Finally, enough people have nothing left to lose and start telling the truth in public. Others hear this and start thinking, "hey, that's what I thought! maybe I should hang with these guys." There is a conflict between The Narrative and The Truth. Heads are cracked, but eventually The Narrative ends up in a ditch with a bullet in the back of its head.

That's why Trump and Sanders are as popular as they are today. They are railing against The Narrative. Even though they stand for opposite politico-economic systems, each speaks Truth that undermines the Narrative. Thus, they are dangerous. More importantly, each has end run the political class of consultants, pollsters, and media hacks and spoken directly to the people. Maybe we are finally closer to the collapse of The Narrative than we thought. Watching the NFL and court system butcher the Laws of Physics, the Rules of Evidence, Professional Codes of Conduct, and Simple Logic should open the eyes of many who have otherwise not been paying attention.

I'm sure this has been discussed but the court has no right to file on Goodell's fact finding (ie not understanding the ideal gas law).

It does have a right to ensure that the appeal process was fair.

I'm no longer in a union but if this what an employer can do to you do you really even have a union?

While current precedent that allows employers with binding arbitration agreements full sway is really bad, the NFLPA happily and idiotically began digging its own grave.

Funny how the ruling came out Monday before Draft. Or is it?

Stephen A. is right about one thing--ultimately this whole thing was about the Commissioner expanding his power (or at least seeking confirmation that his power is as broad as he thinks it is) under the CBA. The court ruled that the players couldn't get through the courts what they failed to get at the negotiating table. I see the counterarguments, but that's what is boils down to. Very sad at the moment, but the stage is set for the biggest F U yet from Brady and the Pats.

I remember hearing someone, it might have been Mark Cuban, say something to the effect that the only thing that can bring down the NFL is the NFL. This whole ludicrous situation certainly feels like a step in that direction. While the other 30 teams, I don't include the Chiefs due to their unfair "tampering" punishment, might be in support of the Patriot's punishment, they have to be concerned that this court ruling might just confirm Goodell's authority to dish out capricious penalties any way he sees fit, and they could be next.

On a personal level the whole thing is just making me lose interest in the NFL. I've always looked forward to watching the draft, competed in a family fantasy football League and on and on, but not anymore. Sad really.

i thought it would happen next week..since they'll need something to talk about.

im still floored that this actually happened..really is unbelievable.
they build you up, just to break you down.

kessler's disappointed. i feel for him, clement destroyed him thoroughly.

Now I think we need a quality bruising RB as these next 4 games will be running more AND better upfront OL.
