I got tickets to the game Oct 3oth. Myself and a good friend from college have always wanted to go out there and watch the Pats demoralize them in person (She's a HUGE fan and knows more than most guys i know). We will be driving out Sat..getting a hotel room then we will drive home after the game.

Tips? Places to go Sat night ect. Tailgating good?

We are both pumped. I like going to away games and seeing other stadiums. Only other I have been to was Jets-Pats in NY the first year they opened their new stadium and in Aug I will actually be at a Titans-Raiders preseason game in Oakland ( I know I know) I will be out there that night on our road trip and tickets were $20 each...so what the hell.

Gotta wear a "Wide Right" shirt. I've never been but I think that's something I would do. Or a shirt with pictures of feet on it.

I went years ago, when Randy Moss was on the Pats. The stadium is in the middle of no where and it is just like the old Foxboro stadium, complete with metal bleachers in places and inadequate, ancient bathrooms. However, you were close to the game just like in the old Fox. Tailgating was plentiful, both for Pats and Bills fans. I have seen stories of Pats fans having trouble with heavy drinking Bills fans, so keep it respectful and you and your friend should be okay. The night before we went to downtown Buffalo and went to a wings place, but I can't remember the name. It was supposedly the "best" place for wings, so maybe look it up on Tripadvisor and get a reservation if you can. I remember waiting a long time even though we had one. It was a fun experience. Have a great time!

Anchor Bar........supposedly the original buffalo wing......I was there 2 years ago and they were still pretty awesome

I've been. Rowdy but fun crowd. Definitely watch out for idiots.

Best part for me is they turn on themselves quick. We go up and they start booing themselves.

My suggestion is you get Duff's Wings. There are two different Duff chains and one is definitely better don't remember the exact name of the right one but it is walking distance to the stadium. Best wings I ever had.

Good chance I'll go again this year.

I live in Buffalo. Just FYI, it is only about 15-20 minutes from downtown to the stadium. Also it is easy in parking on the south side (Big Tree Road exit off the 219), easy out. Park on someone's lawn for $10, walk 10 minutes. You can tailgate on the lawns too.

There are a ton of hotels in the city of Buffalo (Hampton Inn and Embassy Suites are closest to the bars). If you want to try the wings in the city, the best are at Gabriel's Gate rather than Anchor. But as for bars, it depends on your age and what you like. There are a lot of restaurants and bars. A lot of breweries too.

For the douchey 20-24 year old set, they are around the hotels I mentioned on Chippewa. Hipsters go to bars in Allentown (another part of the city), cool people like me (Elmwood Village), adults or burbanites who like a less diverse crowd (Hertel--North Buffalo). Personally, if I were an out of towner, I would look into Resurgence Brewing, Big Ditch Brewing, maybe 716 Sports Bar near the Sabres Arena, Dinosaur BBQ, several other places. If you really want to know what a Buffalo type bar might feel like, there is nothing better than Founding Fathers on Edward Street. True Buffalo. Fried Baloney & Onions Sandwich. Or the Old Pink on Allen.

I always go for Ted's hot dogs when I'm in Buffalo (it's been awhile). The original location near the Peace Bridge closed but there are/were others in the suburbs (used to be one in Orchard Park). One of the best hot dogs I've found in this country.

Those Bills fans are bad news. I once went to the "Bills Bar" here in Denver for a Pats/Bills game. I didn't think I was going to make it out alive. Good luck!!

All good tips..thanks guys! I am pumped

I went years ago. My brother lives in Rochester. Lots of Pats fans in the house, but prepare to get heckled. The entire day is a drunken blur to me, actually, so not much advice to offer.

I expected to get heckled when i went to the Pats0Jets in NJ years ago..i got called a Dbag once..and that was it..everyone was turning on each other

It's been a long time, but I went there for the first Brady vs Bledsoe game. The majority of my section were Pats fans so I didn't get taunted at all. We ended up driving back right after the game and got to Malden at midnight.

Yeah we will be driving right back to MA after the game

Food: Duffs/Gabriels Gate for wings. personally, I prefer GG, it's on Allen St. pretty good nightlife scene if you go also check out Allen Burger Venture and Hardware. Other food options Pizza- La Nova/Bocce, are my two favorites, man I miss Buffalo Pizza. Jim's Steakout for subs, get the stinger, one half chicken finger one half cheesesteak. It's incredible. If you're looking for an upscale restaurant, I recommend Tempo, or Buffalo Chop House.

Nightlife: Allen: Hardware, Allen Burger Venture. Elmwood: Coles (also good food), Savoy, Blue Monk (Incredible beer selection), 716 downtown (owned by Pagula, it's a sports viewers mecca and really cool). Personally, I'd stay away from Chippewa st, prob the most well know nightlife but a lot of scumbags.

Oh and bring your passport, A TON of good top and bottomless bars just 15 minutes north of the boarder. If you enjoy to gamble there's 4 casinos in Niagara Falls, but go to the Canadian side, much nicer.

Non-drinking if you have some time check out Lewiston, small town that has fantastic jet boat whirlpool rides, the thing flys and takes you into the rapids. Buffalo Zoo is ok. Haborcenter if you want to skate, check out some hockey.

I'll add just one or two notes. If you're not from Buffalo, and you're from the east coast, skip Buffalo pizza. No one outside of Buffalo likes Buffalo pizza.

Also, Blue Monk is shut down. Closed. My favorite bar but it doesn't exist any more. Which is probably a surprise to evans since he's only been there when it was jampacked, and it was always jampacked, with people taking limos from Toronto just to go to it. But this is the sort of thing that happens when business partners have a falling out.

As for Tempo, it's OK, but there are many other better fine dining places in Buffalo, if that's your thing.

I assume any hotel in the buffalo area is decent..like the chains? Anything to stay away from?

When I've had guests into town, we just priceline'd it for downtown. There are a lot of hotels to choose from. The best of the chains in the city is probably the Hilton Embassy Suites. The non-chains are better but pricey (the Mansion or Lafayette Hotel). Just make sure you have the right star category if you "Name Your Own Price" on Priceline. Hampton Inn downtown is also good. The Holiday Inn is more of a walk away from the bars and restaurants.

I was looking at the ones downtown and for that night they are around $200 for the night

I'm actually heading to Buffalo for a game too - the Bills vs 49ers game two weeks before the Pats-Bills game. My dad is a huge Niners fan but has never seen them play, but we live about 5 hours southwest of Buffalo so we got two tickets for him and myself to go see them play there this October as a Father's Day gift.

I'm in a similar position as you - trying to figure out what hotel to stay at and where to eat since we will be staying Saturday and Sunday night. Some nice food tips in this thread so far... We were figuring a chain for a hotel but I've been researching...
