Excellent strategy on this mock. Makes a lot of sense especially if bb can also get some 2017 picks.

Wow! You must like Alexander. I like the rest of your mock.

If I'm trading 60, 91 & a 6th for 32, then I'm grabbing Jason Spriggs, or maybe Cody Whitehair
if Bill does the smart thing and moves Shaq Mason to Center, where he has Pro Bowl potential.

Alexander and Chris Jones are two players I would trade up with the analytical Browns FO. I don't even really want a corner in the top 100 but Alexander has turned into a big draft binky. :D

I haven't studied the Tackles much but if Spriggs is substantially better than those prospects available at 60 I would support a trade up for him too.

Jonathan Bullard would be my trade up binky.

Here is my 3 Round Mock Draft...
2016 NFL Mock Draft by KDPPatsfan - 4.24

This is my Patriots 7 Round Mock Draft...Remember, this draft, expect the Patriots to draft for 2017.
60. TRADED TO BROWNS FOR #65 and #141

61. Shon Coleman OT Auburn
Solder in a contract year and the need for better depth, Pats take Coleman. I think this is our biggest need.

65. TRADED TO VAGIANTS FOR #71 and #149

71. Braxton Miller WR Ohio State
He is a project, but I know BB has a lot of interest in him.

91. Yannick Ngakoue OLB Maryland
He has been flying up draft boards and he is a sack machine. This is my binky right here.

96. (COMP) Sheldon Day DT Notre Dame
We lost a few DTs and this draft is very deep.

127. Kenyan Drake RB Alabama
Patriots traded #141 and #204 to Bears to take Kenyan. This guy I think is better than Henry. He is an all around running back.

149. Rashard Robinson CB LSU
This guy is 6'1" and will make it possible to move Ryan to the inside.

196. Dominque Alexander ILB Oklahoma
We are thin at ILB.

208. (COMP) Joe Haeg OT North Dakota State
Double dipping at OT is not a bad thing.

214. (COMP) Landon Turner OG UNC
Again, upgrading the Oline depth.

221. (COMP) Jaylon Smith OLB Notre Dame
He will red shirt this year and I think could be a steal. He drops because of his injury and the Pats take advantage.

243. TRADED TO REDSKINS FOR 2016 6th Rounder

250. Keenan Reynolds RB Navy
BB has a hard on for Navy players. Reynolds could be a UDFA, but BB drafts him anyway so he doesn't sign elsewhere.

I used the CBS Big Board for this draft. Enjoy!

I like some of those picks, but that's a very risky mock.

  1. Shon Coleman: 25 years old and has an iffy knee that prevented him from testing.
  2. Braxton Miller: I love him, he's my #1 binky, but he does come with risks
  3. Sheldon Day: Another I like, but he's probably limited as a passing down 3-tech only.
  4. Kenyan Drake: His star is on the rise, but he's injury prone and a fumbler
  5. Rashard Robinson: Serious character flaws. Was kicked off the team and isn't supposed to be very bright.
  6. Dominique Alexander: Very unathletic linebacker. To be fair, I never got round to watching him, but a 230lb linebacker that runs a 7.8 3-cone?
  7. Jaylon Smith: Fair enough here, but he might never play again.
  8. Keenan Reynolds: One risk we could very well take, and it's fine here, but there's no guarantee a position change will work.
I don't want you to think I'm hating on your mock, I'm not, some of the players I've pointed out as risky, I really like and there's no denying the upside with this mock. But, with 8 players who have question marks, that's a lot of risk. It is nice to see something a little different though.

Damn, this is making me want to do another one!! If I knew that, I would have selected those 8!

He's a bit short but shadows his man very well. Somewhat like Jason Verrett.

He does. I'm not convinced we need to trade up that far for a CB though, particularly one with little production, questionable character and that's undersized. He's good, but to my mind, not that good.

My 2016 Early Pats Mock:

[I'll choose according to current CBS NFL draft prospect rankings within 5 picks up in first 3 rounds, within 10 picks up in rounds 6-7, and unlimited down, CBS prospect rank in parentheses]

Second round: 60th overall selection

Austin Johnson, DT, 6'4 314 lbs, Penn State (55)

Losing Easley instantly creates a need on the DL. Johnson has the versatility to play on multiple fronts and the thick trunk and base to stuff the run.

Second round: 61st overall selection (from Arizona Cardinals)

Braxton Miller, WR, 6'1 201, Ohio State (74)

Pats need to upgrade their longterm future at the receiver position. We have had a lot of success with QB/WR conversions, see Edelman, Miller is an intriguing conversion with amazing athleticism and size for the position.

Third round: 91st overall selection
Connor McGovern, OG 6'4 306, Missouri (96)

Offers a blend of overwhelming strength, both functional in the weight room, and even has the agility to line outside at tackle as necessary. Shows good feet to mirror in pass pro as well. Think dancing bear.

Third round: 96th overall selection (compensatory)

Willie Beavers, OT 6'5 321, Western Michigan (102)

Good, length, agility, and feet. 3 year starter at LT. Put him in the Dante school and hope he pans out.

Sixth round: 196th overall selection (from Houston Texans)

Keith Marshall, RB 5'11 219, Georgia (200)

4.3 speed. Blazing speed. Elite burst. Was buried behind Gurley, etc. But could blossom with his speed and athleticism. Good ball security is a plus.

Sixth round: 204th overall selection (reacquired from Chicago Bears)

Bryce Williams, TE 6'6 257, East Carolina (198)

Very productive and smooth as a pass catcher. Has a good catch radius and plays the position like a basketball player.

Sixth round: 208th overall selection (compensatory)

Joe Haeg, OT 6'6 304, North Dakota (201)

Good feet, agility, and quickness to handle the edge in pass protection. Has versatility to play RT in addition to LT. Needs to improve anchor strength and hand technique.

Sixth round: 214th overall selection (compensatory)

Daryl Worley, CB 6'1 204, West Virginia (207)

Led the Big 12 in pass breakups and interceptions. Has good size and length for the position. Talented but with some off field concerns. Worth a gamble at such a late stage.

Sixth round: 221st overall selection (compensatory)

Glenn Gronkowski, FB 6-2 239, Kansas State.

He's a Gronk. Any questions? Offers serious versatility from the position which BB would value. Could have instant chemistry in the offense with his older brother.

Seventh round: 243rd overall selection (from Houston)

Nate Sudfield, QB 6'6 240, Indiana (240)

Big with a strong throwing arm. Needs to work on accuracy and progression of reads. Considered a bit of a project.

Seventh round: 250th overall selection

Nick Vanhoose, CB 5'11 190, Northwestern (588)

Longshot, but reportedly excellent in zone coverage. Kind of awkward, unorthodox is movements. But with the 7th rounder why not take a shot? Was reportedly the best CB in the Big10 conference. And produced highest national grade according to PFF's coverage metrics 17.7+. Might be worth a shot in the 7th or UDFA.

@VJCPatriot

Love your first three picks. If it was me, I'd prefer to take a RB early, probably instead of Beavers but Marshall is decent compensation for not doing so. I'm not a fan of Bryce Williams from the little I've seen of him, but I'd be very happy with your late day three guys aside from him. Nice mock.

Id be okay with a pick like this because I really like next years RB class (i.e.. Christina Mccaffrey dreams)
Marshall could at least be our big back backup. We also have a bunch of RB's on our roster.
