Josh Norman is now a free agent - Panthers removed franchise tag

Doesn't he have to sign the tag to trade him? He said he wouldn't sign, he boxed Carolina in and would rather put that money to use elsewhere for someone who wants to play this year.

That's what I've been saying since he was released. I'm pretty sure that they would've gotten something in trade for him if they could have.

I admire the Panthers for the Boldness of this Move, but I have to wonder if they did their Due Diligence.

If I'm running the Panthers, I put The Tag on'm as they did, yes...But then I put the word out to every other Team that I'm Open For Business, and will happily trade'm to The Highest Bidder.

If I can get a 3rd Rounder for'm...a 2016 3rd Rounder beats a 2017 3rd Rounder.

If I can get more ~ maybe much more for arguably the best Corner in the Game, maybe a 2016 1st Rounder?? Maybe more??? ~ then I'll take that, please and thank you!! :D

I actually mocked Joshua Norman to us back in 2012, thank you!! :D

But The Infernal Salary Cap is a Bastard...And if I could get out from under Joshua Norma's prospective Contract ~ while allowing me to sign guys who play closer to The Line ~ while maybe racking up a 1st Rounder, a 3rd Rounder, and some Change...I'd pounce on that Opportunity!!

Will we be seeing your mock this year?

Honored that you even ask, Brother Manx. My BackDraft, afterwards ~ when we actually know when guys are available, as opposed to when we hope they'll be available, for those who're wondering what a BackDraft is :) ~ for sure, but I fought for Survival for far too much of the past Year.

Even my Scouting Reports, I'll need at least May and maybe June to crank out!!

Yes, I'm talking about a Tag & Trade, of course, which of course would entail Norman working out a Long Term Deal with a Team and then them trading for'm with the Panthers.

But don't you see it Deus? Imagine how much money he could get if he went to a contender, had an all pro season, and ended up in the super bowl. That would be hitting gold for him.

Oh, Wait.

You must be thrilled that the Pats got McClellin - I notice that he was your first rounder!

Predict we draft 2 corners

This is NOT a terrible idea.

Also, I would expect us to extend Ryan and Harmon. These would NOT be for crazy numbers. I just don't see Butler with the patriots in 2017. We won't pay $14M a year.

I suppose we might be able to keep Butler if had a poor year. Of course, no one here would want to pay him ever $7M a year.

Best case scenario for us is Butler has a off year we still win the superbowl and sign Butler to a 4 year 30 million dollar deal.
But sadly that is Logan Ryan money.
We need Roberts and Coleman and un mentioned rookie to take a step

So who is given up a 1st round pick to get him? Because he's restricted, he'll get slapped with a 1st round tender which is around $4m for '17.

Also who says Butler will be looking for $14m. Ever think he may give a discount to the team that gave him a chance when every other one didn't

.

I don't see anyone paying Logan Ryan that.

With that said the 21st highest paid CB makes $10m/yr.

Why? In case Malcolm and Ryan walk?

You are a year off, mg. The team can squat on Butler for all of 2016 and 2017 before needing to place the tag on him for the 2018 season at the 14m dollar tag (current figure).

Of course, if they choose to go that route and wait, they may find that he has out priced himself from consideration. That's obviously assuming that he continues his high level of play. In my opinion, they're both waiting until next offseason to address it, once there's a bigger sample size.

I could envision a scenario where Ryan is given 7m dollars a year or so. That seems to be the going rate for someone like him right now, if not even slightly higher.

I don't see us keeping him, but that's obviously just personal feeling. My concern is that he'll fall into the same category as players like Vereen, Mark Anderson, Ayers, and Hicks--all who had above average seasons here at one point, but were given excellent money for their skill sets.

Pats won't pay more than $5m/AAV nor should they. Hes a good player but I don't think Logan Ryan is a $7m/yr player. With that said you may be right. Some idiot team will play that.

If he has another good season I could absolutely see some team overpaying him like the Eagles did with Maxwell. Paying way to much for #2 corners seems to be the trend of the NFL.

Yea. Logan Ryan is solid. Someone just might shell out the coin.....

BOLD PREDICTION: Roberts takes over by mid-season for Logan.

Saints doing the same thing over and over and over again....shouldn't be a surprise the Pelicans suck too. Saints going to be in deep cap trouble again real soon.

Redskins sign him, per Schefter.

$75 Million over 5 years, $50 Million GUARANTEED. Yes, it's true, the Redskins are insane.
